Welcome to One Whole Being.
I hope this finds you really well.
My name is Martin and this is a podcast for empaths,
Highly sensitive people and anybody ready to heal and transform and shine their light.
This is a sacred space to rest,
Relax and let go.
And this is a safe place to heal,
Release emotions,
Find peace of mind and to feel more love.
I appreciate you being here,
Appreciate your time and I appreciate you and invite you just to make yourself as comfortable as you possibly can for this podcast.
You can do this sitting down or lying down.
Just make yourself as comfortable as you can.
Just releasing any tension in the shoulders and the neck and you can keep your eyes open or closed,
Whatever feels best.
And I invite you to let go of any thoughts about the past.
Let go of any thoughts about the future and just come fully into this present moment,
This moment of your life.
Connect deeply with your breath,
That breath which is the foundation of all life.
Gently tune in with your heart,
That place that Hafiz called the thousand-stringed instrument.
Just notice how your heart's feeling.
And in this meditation I'd like to share with you a few thoughts and a guided practice on remembering that your body is a gift from the universe.
Now this is something that's had a really massive impact on me,
Contemplating where my body has come from and all the events and situations and conditions that caused my body to exist.
And I'm not a scientist but I love listening to scientists talk about their work.
And one thing I hear from the scientists that I listen to,
From the physicists,
Is that all the matter of the world was created in the fiery hearts of stars billions and billions of years ago.
All of the atoms and the molecules that create the earth and also create our bodies were created in through nuclear fusion.
And this just blows my mind,
The fact that the atoms and the molecules that create my body were actually made by stars that have long since died.
I mean that to me is absolutely mind-blowing,
That if it wasn't for those stars,
If they hadn't have done the work that they did to create those molecules and atoms,
Then the world wouldn't be here,
The earth wouldn't be here,
And our bodies wouldn't be here either.
And that just absolutely blows my mind and seeing it from that perspective has helped me to honour my body much more and to realise what an immense gift the human body is,
To love my body more and to take greater care of it.
Because it's kind of like our bodies are this gift from the universe that we have for this brief window of time that we call our lives.
And we're all born as babies with baby bodies and straight away they're growing,
Always growing and changing and getting bigger and transforming.
And then at some point,
You know,
We're all gonna die.
Every body dies.
It's just the reality of having a human body is that it's born,
It lives,
And then one day it will die.
And the molecules and atoms that came together to form our bodies will return back to the earth and return back to the universe and be changed and transformed into other matter.
Now that's one of the other things that I've learned from science is that energy is never destroyed,
It's just transformed into something else.
And matter is energy.
So the matter of our bodies,
Which is energy,
When our bodies die that will just naturally go back into the earth and be returned to the universe.
As I think it was Shakespeare who said,
Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust.
So we've got these bodies just for this brief window of time which we call our lives.
And the more we can be aware of what an absolute miracle it is that this matter has somehow come together to form this human body has given us this opportunity to be alive and to experience the world,
The more we can really take care of it from a place of love.
And I'd like us to do a just a short body scan now.
And this is just about scanning down through your body,
Becoming aware of how your body's feeling,
The different sensations.
And let's do it from that perspective that your body is a gift from the universe that took 13.
8 billion years for all of those conditions to happen,
To create the conditions for your body to be as it is in this moment.
And for me when I contemplate that there's this absolute sense of awe,
Wonder,
Humility,
And there's also a joy that comes with that.
There's just this joy that all of that had to happen for us to be here.
Some absolute miracle that we even exist.
So bear that in mind as we go through this body scan.
And you can do this with your eyes open or closed,
Whatever feels best.
Just sink and drop into a deep state of relaxation,
Letting go of any thoughts,
Gently connecting with your body,
And tuning into your breath.
And now tuning into that space at the crown of your head,
Now the eyebrows,
The forehead,
The left eye,
And the right eye,
The left ear,
And the right ear.
And then that space between your ears,
Just feeling your lips and perhaps pressing your lips together and noticing how that feels.
And your tongue,
Just pressing your tongue against the top of your mouth,
And just tuning into your jaw,
Noticing any tension in your jaw,
And then the throat,
And the neck,
And the shoulders,
And then your left arm,
All the way down your left arm to the tips of the fingers on your left hand,
And the right arm,
All the way down your right arm to the tips of your fingers on your right hand.
Always remembering what a gift it is for this human body to be here,
Breathing in slowly,
And breathing out slowly,
And then just tuning into that,
Your chest,
And your lungs,
Taking a moment to think about all the amazing things that your heart is doing,
The organ of your heart,
Just always pumping,
Always working to keep you alive.
What an incredible thing the human heart is,
And the lungs,
And all the amazing things that your lungs are doing,
And then down into your stomach,
And the gut,
And the gut microbiome,
And all the incredible things that your gut microbiome is doing to support your health and vitality.
Perhaps even sensing that vagus nerve that connects your gut to your brain,
And scientists are now telling us about how important the gut microbiome is for your health,
And then tuning into your hips,
First of all your left hip,
And your right hip,
Then all the way down your left leg to the tips of the toes on your left leg,
Then all the way down your right leg to the tips of your toes on your right leg,
And just tuning into your feet,
That place where you connect with the earth,
And the soles of the feet are just filled with very sensitive points that allow us to to bring energy up from the earth,
And to feel connected with the earth's energy.
So just really tuning into your feet,
And just imagine how many steps you walk in your whole lifetime with those feet,
And what an incredible thing it is just to be able to walk.
I remember when you were a young child learning how to walk,
It was such a difficult thing,
And took so many attempts and practices to learn how to walk,
But now that whole system of walking just comes naturally.
And then let's just take a few moments of gratitude for each of the systems of the body.
First of all a moment of gratitude for the respiratory system,
Then a moment of gratitude for the nervous system,
Then a moment of gratitude for the endocrine system,
Then a moment of gratitude for the reproductive system,
And a moment of gratitude for the skeletal system,
And a moment of gratitude for the digestive system,
And a moment of gratitude for the circulatory system,
And a moment of gratitude for the muscular system.
And thankfully we don't really need to know how any of those systems actually work,
Because they just happen,
And they're working for us to keep us alive,
And to keep us healthy.
And then finally a moment of gratitude for the immune system,
And all the things that the immune system is doing to to protect us,
To keep us well,
And healthy.
And our scientists tell us that there's trillions and trillions of cells in the human body,
And just taking a moment to imagine all those trillions of cells working together in harmony,
And then just connecting with your feet again,
Wiggling your fingers and toes,
And if you've got your eyes closed then gently opening them.
