In this 10-minute guided meditation, I invite you to tether your awareness to different areas of your body, and then, follow the flow of your breath and energy as it travels from the crown of your head to your pelvis. This meditation is from Area 7: Energy of my book, "Love Thyself, First + Always."

Welcome.

This is grounding energy meditation for area seven of love thyself first and always.

Settle into a comfortable seat with the feet firmly planted on the ground or resting in a chair on the floor somewhere where you feel fully supported and you can sit up tall.

Close the eyes.

Draw your awareness to the sitting bones,

The area that you are resting on.

Feeling the weight of the body settling there.

Noticing the surface area you are taking up.

Noticing if you feel anchored to the ground beneath you or maybe a bit flighty or swirly.

Both options are okay.

Then bring awareness as you travel up the spine to the belly button.

Notice ever so slightly as you breathe.

The rise and fall of your belly.

Then bring awareness to the rib cage.

As you continue to breathe deeply,

Notice the expansion and the contraction.

How the rib cage expands in all four directions with each inhalation and with each exhalation the energy hugs back in towards center.

Then bring awareness to your collarbones.

You might even place your hands there.

Feel the rise and fall of your chest.

Feel it lift towards the sky.

Feel it hug back towards the ground.

Notice the front of the throat,

The tip of your chin,

The bridge of your nose,

The tip of your forehead,

The bridge of your forehead,

The bridge of your nose,

The tops of your ears,

Your eyes,

The center of the forehead,

The crown of your head.

Notice if you could sit up a little bit taller.

Feeling length through the side seams from the pelvis all the way up to the crown of the head.

I want you to think with each inhalation you're drawing energy in from the crown of the head through the length of the body all the way down to the pelvis.

And then on the exhalation you're drawing the energy from the pelvis all the way up the length of the body through the crown of the head.

You might even think on the inhalation the energy draws through the front of the body and the exhalation it goes up through the back of the body creating this nice circular motion.

So take a couple rounds to settle into that vision and if you lose it it's okay.

Come back to it if you don't quite grasp it it's okay let it go.

Take a couple rounds.

Be as even and smooth with the breath as you possibly can.

Allow it to be ever so subtle,

Quiet.

Two more rounds breathing from the crown of the head down to the pelvis and exhaling from the pelvis all the way up to the crown of the head.

Let that go.

Come back to an easy pattern of breathing.

Bring your attention to the crown of your head.

To the back of your skull.

The top of your shoulders.

The back of your heart.

Down to your tailbone.

All the way into the sitting bones again.

Feel this length through the side seams.

Feel as if you're anchoring down into the earth beneath you and rising up through the crown of the head to the sky above you.

Feeling supported,

Stable and grounded as well as uplifted.

Maybe even joyous or lighter.

When you're ready,

Gently flutter the eyes open.
