In this calming meditation, we explore the deep peace that arises when we let go of striving and settle into the simplicity of being. Inspired by a Plum Village song, we’ll soften the rush, the pressure, and the urgency — and remember what it feels like to simply be here.

Have you ever noticed how much of our day is spent trying to get somewhere?

We move from one thing to the next,

Even when there's no real need to rush.

It's like our bodies sit still,

But our minds are halfway down the street already.

So let's try something a little different right now.

Let's not be in a hurry.

Let's take a breath in,

And let it go slowly.

Again,

Gently in,

And gently out.

If you're sitting,

Feel the weight of your body on the seat beneath you.

If you're standing or lying down,

Just feel gravity doing its job,

Holding you right here.

You're supported.

Right now,

There's nowhere to go,

Nothing to do.

You're not in a hurry.

Let those words land softly in your mind.

Nowhere to go.

Nothing to do.

I'm not in a hurry.

Let's try it again.

Silently or out loud,

If you'd like.

Nowhere to go.

Nothing to do.

I'm not in a hurry.

Just notice what shifts in your body as you become aware of that.

Maybe your shoulders lower a little.

Maybe your breath deepens without effort.

We're so used to pushing forward.

Even in rest,

We are constantly planning the next thing.

But for these few minutes,

You don't have to fix anything,

Solve anything,

Or figure anything out.

You are allowed to just be.

Let's gently bring our attention to our breath.

Not to control it,

But just to notice it.

The air entering through your nose,

Leaving through your nose or mouth.

Every inhale like a gentle wave rising.

Every exhale a soft release.

Let's just sit with the breath for a few moments.

Repeating quietly if it helps.

Nowhere to go.

Nothing to do.

I'm not in a hurry.

And if the mind starts wandering,

Which it probably will,

That's completely fine.

Just smile at it like you would a puppy trying to dart off the path.

And then gently return to the breath.

And maybe again the words.

Nowhere to go.

Nothing to do.

I'm not in a hurry.

Feel what it's like to rest in that.

To not strive.

To not perform.

To not prove.

But just to be.

There's a softness in that practice.

A quiet kind of strength.

The world may be spinning fast.

But we can slow down.

Right here.

Anytime we want.

Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us.

Smile.

Breathe.

And go slowly.

And so that's what we're doing.

We're smiling.

Even just a little.

We're breathing without pressure.

And we're going slowly.

Even if it's just inside ourselves for this moment.

So let's close this meditation with one last breath together.

Inhaling gently.

And exhaling fully.

And as you return to your day,

See if you can carry this reminder with you.

Nowhere to go.

Nothing to do.

You're not in a hurry.

Even in motion.

You can move from stillness.

And even in chaos you can return to calm.

And it's always just one breath away.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

And may you be at peace.

Thank you so much for joining me.
