This tapping exercise through the body serves to support us to bring mindful awareness to each part of the body as we tap. It helps us to bring our awareness back to something live and more easily felt within the body if the attention wanders off. It can also support us to feel more embodied and connect the thinking mind back up with the sensing body. Finally, it can also help to shift the energy from a feeling of sluggishness or tired or low mood to feeling more present, alive, and energized

So we're going to do a tapping exercise to get the energy moving around the body.

So starting by tapping with your fingertips on your head,

Listening to the sound of the tapping,

Exploring the whole of the head,

Top,

The sides,

The back.

And then coming onto the face,

Tapping around the forehead,

Third eye point,

Out to the temples,

Down to the cheeks,

And then around the jaw,

Maybe wiggling the jaw,

Moving the mouth as you do so,

Holding a lot of tension in our jaws quite often,

So trying to let that go.

Let that go.

And then stroking downwards from the forehead,

Down over the eyes,

Over the cheeks,

To the bottom of the face,

Doing that a few times.

And then stroking across the forehead,

From the middle out to the sides.

And then squeezing from the tops of the ear lobes down to the bottom,

Squeezing movements around the ears.

And then we're letting one hand hang down and we're going to tap.

You might like to cup your hand and tap around the shoulder and the neck.

You can use your hand to support the elbow of the tapping hand.

And then you can turn the tapping hand onto the side and flick the fingers into the neck and onto the shoulder,

Doing whatever feels comfortable,

Feels right for you.

And then tapping all the way down that arm to the hand,

Clapping in the hand and tapping back up the forearm.

And doing that circuit a few times,

Down the arm to the hand,

Back up the forearm to the shoulder.

And then releasing,

Standing in your mountain pose,

Letting both arms hang down,

Noticing how that is.

You might notice a difference between one arm and the other arm,

Taking a moment to feel that difference,

If there is a difference.

And then swapping over,

So bending the other arm,

Supporting the elbow with the opposite hand.

And then cupping the hand and tapping on the shoulder and the base of the neck.

Maybe turning the hand onto the side to do more of a chopping action on the shoulder and the neck.

You might like to experiment with each side of the hand.

And then releasing the hand and tapping down the arm,

The outside of the arm to the hand,

Into the palm of the hand and back up the forearm.

Doing that a few times,

That circuit up and down the arm.

And then letting go,

Letting both arms hang again,

Feeling how that is to have tapped both arms now.

And then using the fingertips to come and tap across the chest,

Maybe being aware of your breath at this point,

Letting the breath come and go.

There might be a sound that accompanies that breath releasing from the body.

And then we're tapping down the left hand side of the belly,

Across the bottom,

Up the right hand side,

Across the top,

Across the top.

And doing that circuit a few times,

Gently tapping around the very edge of the belly in a clockwise direction.

And then turning that tap into a rub,

Rubbing around the belly,

Down the left side,

Across the bottom,

Up the right side,

Across the top.

And then we're going to come and tap on the back of the body.

So using the inside edges,

The thumb edges of the hands to flick down either side of the spine to the buttocks.

Doing this a few times.

And then you might like to turn that into a rub,

So rubbing down each side of the spine,

From wherever you can reach on the spine,

Down towards the tailbone,

Between the buttocks.

And then we're coming to the next bit where you bring your thumbs in and let the fingers wrap around the thumbs,

So you come to a very soft fist.

And then if you bring your hands up out to the side and let them drop onto the buttocks.

So lifting the arms up and out to the back and then letting them drop onto the buttocks and they find that particular point that is where there's a lot of tension quite often.

You might like to connect that with your breath,

So letting the breath go out as the hands drop down.

And then turning that into a drumming,

So drumming the buttocks around to the hips and the front of the pelvis,

The front of the body and back again.

And then cupping,

So releasing the hands back to that cupping position.

And then we're going to step one foot forward and tap down that leg,

That leg right down to the foot and back up again.

You might like to give your knees a bit of a rub and then continue tapping down the leg.

And then coming back to mountain pose,

Standing for a moment,

Feeling how that is to have tapped down the lower half of the body and one leg.

And then we're going to tap down the other leg,

So stepping the other leg forward,

Tapping up and down the inside,

The outside,

The front,

The back,

Right down to the foot,

Giving the knee a rub,

Continue tapping.

And then coming back to standing in our mountain pose and dusting off the body,

So giving the body a good brush all the way from the head and the face,

Down the arms,

The shoulders,

The front of the body,

The back of the body,

Down the legs to the feet.

And then we're going to do a couple of body sweeps,

So coming back to standing in mountain pose,

Having your hands on your head,

Allowing the breath to come in,

All your hands are on your head.

And then as you breathe out,

Sweeping down the body and off the feet on the out-breath.

Maybe doing that a couple more times,

Hands on the head,

Allowing the breath to come in,

Sweeping down the body and off the feet.

And off the feet.

And once more,

Hands on the head,

Letting the breath come in,

Sweeping down the body and off the feet.
