This is a Soham Mantra Meditation.

This simple yet profound meditation technique is probably one of the most popular.

It emerges from the Yoga School of Hindu Philosophy and belongs in the category of a Japa Meditation.

Japa meaning to repeat or to chant.

Soham done sincerely is a very effective form.

It brings about a complete transformation of one's individual consciousness.

Soham literally means so meaning that or thou or divinity.

Ham,

The mantra's aim is to bring about the union between your individual and divine consciousness.

First this is that the meditation brings about the realization that you are all that you see.

The observer is the observed.

Benefits of doing a Soham Mantra Meditation is that it brings about the realization of your divine nature.

The realization of the non-dual nature of your realm.

Helps in stress reduction,

Promotes relaxation,

Peace and tranquility.

It also brings about a feeling of spontaneous joy and happiness.

Promotes self-healing,

Helps to build mental focus and concentration.

Soham can be done seated,

Cross-legged on the floor,

Seated in a chair with your feet firmly planted on the floor.

Or you may lie on your back in Shavasana.

So long as the spine remains straight.

You're sitting,

Take a moment now and elongate your spine upwards.

Lengthening your neck and subtly bringing your chin back in.

If you're laying on the floor,

Extend out your limbs and your spine.

Whether you're seated or whether you're laying down.

Place your hands in the Gyan Mudra,

Gesture.

Touch your thumb,

Index finger lightly.

If you're seated,

Have your wrists rest gently on the knees.

Palms facing upward.

Allow the other three fingers to extend.

Take five slow,

Deep breaths through your nose.

Notice as you take the time to pause and breathe,

The body begins to relax and become calm.

And the breath just naturally begins to deepen.

Now remaining as still as you possibly can.

On your next inhale and exhale,

Listen to the sound of your breath.

On your next inhale,

Say to yourself,

So.

And on your next exhale,

Say to yourself,

Hum.

If you are listening,

These are the sounds that you make when you inhale and exhale.

With each inhale now,

Say to yourself,

So.

And with every exhale,

Say to yourself,

Hum.

Feel your awareness expand and begin to merge with universal consciousness.

Feel the meaning act upon you.

So in hum is the music of life.

Practicing this meditation,

We learn to dance in tune with it.

As you end this meditation,

Remain with the inclusive awareness and the sense that all is included in you.

That's not what I asked you to do.

What are you doing?

All right.

That's not working.

No,

No,

No.

Stop.
