Living With Intention (Recorded Live Jan. 2022)
In this live-recorded session, we discuss living with intention because living consciously brings joy and happiness. It also brings up self-awareness and limiting beliefs. These become things to heal so we can let go of past traumas to live intentionally moving forward.
Transcript
All right.
So officially welcoming you all to this live today.
And we're going to be talking about intention setting.
And I'm a huge on intention setting.
It's something I personally do every single day,
Every single week and every single month.
And it's simply being intentional with who I am and what I want to do.
And as I said in the very beginning,
I've made some really drastic life decisions like quitting my job and just taking giant leaps of faith.
And what that has done for me is it's come from being intentional and saying this is what I want.
This is what I know what I want and then going after it.
And it makes the going after it so much easier because I've been so intentional with who I am.
I'm actually going to turn on one extra light.
I feel really dark.
Okay.
Hopefully that helps a little bit.
Let me come in here to the comments.
Awesome.
So Antoinette,
Happy to see you back again.
Once to live intentionally.
I'm here to get inspiration as I feel pretty stuck for the last years.
I lack motivation to do anything new while suffering in my current condition,
Trying to find my purpose.
Matina,
I can guarantee you,
You are not alone.
Oh Dave.
I thought the old circle is a new group.
Yes.
Yes.
The circle is the group is the new circle.
Does that make sense?
They changed circles and they merged it with groups,
But we lost our like chitchat.
Like the chat doesn't like show up and notifications and stuff.
So that's kind of been a little downer.
So we're going to bring that back into our group.
I want to feel a sense of control,
But allowing me to flow.
Yes.
Control and flow.
So being intentional,
But also allowing things to come Kathleen.
Hi,
You just got a new job.
Congratulations.
Want to make sure I'm maintaining a good work-life balance.
Awesome.
Love setting the multiple intentions.
Yes.
I'm setting intentions all of the time,
All of the time.
And you will see that in the planner.
That's a huge piece of the planner is setting intentions.
I feel like I need to fix my microphone because it's really going to bother me.
So give me one moment.
I just don't like the way it's situated.
So give me one moment and then we will go back.
So keep putting stuff in the chat,
Chat with each other,
Have conversations and support each other.
Oh,
Shoot.
I just lost the,
Oh no,
I lost the cover.
There it is.
Okay.
Sorry.
That was going to bother me.
And I was not going to be able to teach that bothered me.
It would have distracted me the whole time.
All right.
So let's talk about,
I think I want to go back to that feeling of being stuck and lacking motivation.
And I think that's where intentions really get us.
Oh,
Again,
Here we go.
And it's feeling stagnant energy.
I want to take more inner responsibility.
I'm currently struggling with practical direction.
Awesome.
Okay.
So here's what I want to share with you all right now.
I love saying this because when I heard this,
It just made so much sense to me.
You are,
Oh,
And if you haven't been on one of my lives,
I love my whiteboard because I love to write things out.
I don't like to just be a talking head.
You are exactly where you are meant to be.
So wherever you are right now,
You're feeling stuck.
You're feeling stagnant.
You're,
You just got a new job and now you want to maintain your work life balance,
Knowing you are exactly where you are meant to be right now in your life,
Whether it's stuck or lacking motivation,
Or whether you feel like you need to be somewhere else.
Just know you are exactly where you are meant to be right now.
This is where you are meant to be now.
And then now we're going to take this and say,
How do I move forward?
I've gotten here because of what happens.
I find a lot is we,
We are where we are.
And then we kind of beat ourselves up.
Why made this mistake?
I did this or this didn't work out.
Well,
I didn't do this.
I should be,
I should be somewhere else.
I should be doing something different.
I shouldn't be stuck where I am.
Like we kind of beat ourselves up and we feel a lot of guilt over where we are.
So I like to start here because you're exactly where you're meant to be.
And you need to honor your past.
So we're going to honor our past.
Honor your past.
Right?
We're going to honor our past.
But the next big step is we're going to create our future.
So you're going to honor your past and you're going to create your future.
Because if you're over here beating yourself up about how you got to where you are,
And it doesn't make you happy and you're not feeling good.
If you're beating yourself up,
You're gonna be you're gonna continue to stay stuck,
Because you're,
You are going to continue to lack that motivation.
So starting off first by honoring your past and saying this is where I am,
And then realizing I am the creator of my future,
I can go from here.
And I can set really great intentions and I can learn to move forward.
So I see a lot of chitter chatter,
Stuck in a cycle of procrastination,
The three major projects feeling lazy,
Feeling stuck in work life balance,
Also feeling lazy procrastinating.
Guys,
I have a whole talk that's up on my tracks here on insight timer,
We talked all about procrastination.
And there's a lot of there was a lot of mindset about why we procrastinate.
But we're really like kind of broke down and really did a lot of practical,
How to get out of procrastination,
How to actually do something.
Diane asked how to transition with intention from a career to retirement in the next few years.
Oh,
Dave,
Yes,
Thank you.
How long is the life we'll be here about another 45 minutes.
So my plan is to be here till about eight.
So yeah,
So we'll be chatting for a while,
Struggling with feeling bad about not being where I want to be.
Okay,
I've been there.
So as you guys say these things,
Like I've been there,
And I am there's pieces of me that are still there.
But I'm constantly reminding myself like,
No,
I'm exactly where I meant to be.
And where I am on this journey is going to take me to the next step.
So here's where we're going to be,
Here's where I want to start.
Let's go into what it means to set intentions.
So I will share this story.
I share this one a lot.
So if you're on my lives,
I want to apologize.
But if you keep coming back,
You're gonna hear some of the same stories over and over again.
And repetition is how we learn.
So in 2018,
I have two kiddos,
They probably won't interrupt because they're already up and feel like they're on their screens and stuff.
So sometimes I get interrupted and can I call my iPad?
Mommy,
Can I watch TV?
So sometimes that happens.
But I don't think that will today because they were both awake and kind of doing things before I even walked in here.
So anyway,
In 2018,
I well since 2015.
So my kiddo,
My first was born in 2012.
My second was born in 2015.
And the whole time being a working parent,
So I was a working parent.
I worked full time at the beginning,
Then I went to part time and then I went back to full time.
So I've got a lot of twists and turns as far as that goes.
And it really was my work life balance that was completely out of sorts.
So in 2018,
I got super intentional,
Not on purpose,
Purely by accident,
Simply because I couldn't take where I was anymore.
And I was like,
I can't do this anymore.
I need to do something different.
So in 2018,
Literally January 1 of 2018,
I set a goal,
I made a resolution and I was like,
That's it.
I am going to have my summer with my kids.
I'm going to be able to take them to the park on a Wednesday,
Simply because I can.
And it wasn't about I don't know,
I didn't know how I was going to get there.
I had some ideas,
I had some thoughts.
I didn't know the how,
But I was so super clear on what I wanted.
So when we're setting intentions,
We want to work on the clarity of what we want.
And this requires being honest with ourselves.
Because a lot of times we get stuck in what other people think we should be doing.
I should be doing X,
Y and Z,
Because this is what I was taught to do.
This is what so and so did and this is how they're living.
So I think I'm supposed to do X,
Y and Z.
But if we really dig deep down into what you want,
And you wash away all the other stuff,
All the other things,
All the external factors,
All the advice,
All the books,
All the stuff,
And you really just clear your mind and you get into yourself,
You get clarity on what you want.
And you get clarity by,
I want to say pushing away the external factors.
And that's really what I spent a good six months doing.
I was,
You know,
I was doing things,
I was taking action.
But I'm gonna put the word factors.
Because I had this idea that I'm going to start my own business,
This is what I'm going to do.
But it wasn't about,
I wasn't intentional on I want this business to go here so that I can then leave.
No,
My focus,
My focus,
The only thing I was thinking about every time I made a decision was,
Will this allow me to be home with my kids in the summer,
And be able to take them to a park on a Wednesday?
That was,
That was the bottom line.
That was what drove me.
That was what pushed me.
That's being intentional.
It wasn't about how I'm going to get there.
I had no clue how I was going to get there.
But it was pushing away the external factors,
Getting clarity on what we want on what you want.
And then putting your focus there,
Knowing what it is you want,
But not knowing the how.
I don't know how,
You don't need to know the how,
Right?
You don't need to know how that is not the how is not your responsibility.
But what the clarity of what you want and what you desire is your responsibility.
And it's staying there and it's staying in that place.
So we're sitting here on a meditation app,
What is one of the number one things you do,
That you can do to get clarity in your own mind is meditating,
Being quiet.
Those were the things that I did.
I meditated,
And I journaled,
I meditated,
And I journaled,
I felt so lost and so confused.
And I had gotten so out of touch with who I was over those few years,
Like becoming a mom,
Getting married,
Becoming a mom,
Having this work,
I had this idea of,
Oh,
My God,
I'm going to be this working mom,
And I'm going to be in this suit.
And I'm going to be this power worker,
Employee,
Whatever executive.
And then as I got older,
I was like,
That's not actually what I want.
But I got so disconnected from what I did want that I had to go back inside,
And really listen to myself into my heart and to what I truly wanted.
That's where I was.
And that's what you need to do.
Because once you get so super clear on what it is you want,
Taking the action becomes so much easier because you're like,
This is what I'm supposed to do.
This is what feels right.
This is what I'm going to do,
You get that confidence to take those actions.
So you stop procrastinating,
You get the motivation,
You get excited.
And that's,
That's how you move forward.
Because you can't move forward.
If you're procrastinating,
And you're not motivated,
And you're feeling stuck,
It's likely because you're not very confident in what it is that you want and that you and that you can actually have it.
So it's the clarity of what you want,
And the belief that you can have it.
Belief that you can have it.
So,
As you guys are out here saying,
I'm stuck,
I want this,
Do you actually believe that you can get the thing that you're desiring that you want,
Whatever that thing is?
Yeah.
So Pamela is struggling with feeling bad about not being where I want to be.
Ah,
What did Diane ask?
I want to go back up and see how to transition.
Okay,
Awesome.
So I don't know what I personally don't know what it's like to transition from a career to retirement,
But I can help you find your intention and saying what it is I want retirement to look like.
So Matina saying she lost connection,
Adjusting your identities.
So you're now going into a new chapter of life.
And this happens all the time,
When I became a mom,
Who I was before as a mom changed because now I'm completely I'm now a mom,
My life and my purpose is changing and shifting.
We are constantly changing who we are now is not who we were 1020 30 years ago.
And it's we don't want to be that person from 1020 30 years ago.
So I used to have this picture on my vision board,
I just took it off this year.
And it was a picture of me from my 20s.
And I was like,
I want to look like that again.
And I let it I kept it on there for a whole year.
And I was like,
Yeah,
And then something clicked for me that I went,
Why am I trying to go backwards?
That's who I was.
And that person was amazing and beautiful and wonderful.
But why do I need to go backwards to feel better?
How can I instead be proud of where I am and decide to move forward and step in to this new identity of who I am?
Yeah,
Step into who I am.
Let's do it.
Look at Pamela and Diane are going back and forth.
I love it.
Maybe being where you are right now is giving more clarity on what Yes.
And that's also a beautiful piece that we talked about before is every time we have an experience,
We learn about what we don't want.
And you can put a little checkmark.
So there's nothing wrong with saying,
I had this experience,
I don't like where I am.
But it helped me to understand that I don't want x,
Y,
And z.
And instead,
I want a,
B,
And c.
And I wouldn't have realized that I don't want this,
Had I not had this experience.
That's how it goes.
So I quit my job.
So we want to look at clarity of what we want.
And we actually want to believe that we can have what we desire.
So again,
In 2018,
I quit,
I started doing some consulting and coaching.
Finances were not going where I wanted them to go.
I was like,
Wait,
This isn't working out as I had expected it to work out.
So a lot of things happened.
And in about a year and a half after I quit,
A little less than a year and a half,
After I quit,
I ended up going back to part time work.
And I went back into the same field that I was in,
Because I wasn't exactly sure where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do.
So I had gotten some clients,
Some very consistent clients in my consulting work that I was doing.
One that I'm,
Two that I'm still actually really working with.
And then I started part time work.
And what I realized was I can have a part time job,
Make consistent income,
And that allows me to then have my coaching,
Have my teaching,
And allow it to flow much more smoothly without the stress of where is my income coming from.
It was a really beautiful experience.
It wasn't the work I wanted to be doing,
But I was like,
It's helping me to learn.
About a year into that job,
A couple months in,
No,
About six months in the world shut down and it was March of 2020.
So I went from being in an office,
It was actually really beautiful.
I went from being in an office where I didn't want to be,
But they expected me to be there every day.
And I did it.
And then 2020 happened and I was like,
Great,
I get to work from home and I'm still making this income.
This is,
This is awesome.
So I got to really spend the last year and a half working from home,
Getting this consistent income,
Like things were working out.
They weren't going exactly as I intended them to go.
But,
And then I started to realize like,
Okay,
This job isn't what I want,
But I now understand that I can work part time,
Still do my coaching,
Still do my teaching and live a very fulfilled life.
Cause I really had blinders on for a long time that the only way to have the work-life balance that I wanted was to have my own business.
I really had blinders on.
And what I realized was that's not the case.
I can create whatever I want,
As long as it feels good to me.
And it allows me to have that clarity of this is what I desire.
And this is how I want to be.
This is the work-life balance that I desire.
And I can write it all out and say,
This is what I want.
And I can write it all out and say,
That's what I've got.
That's what I've got.
And I'm continuing to learn.
I want a little bit more of this and a little bit less of this.
And as I move through,
I'm just learning and growing and gaining more clarity.
Every experience is giving you more clarity.
So after not quite two years in this position,
I started saying,
Okay,
This isn't for me.
What else is next?
What else can I do?
How can I continue working part-time,
But maybe change what I'm doing and the work that I'm doing so that it fulfills me a little bit more.
So what kind of work do I want to do?
And I ended up so long story short,
I ended up working at a healthcare practitioner where I went in 2018,
Changed my life,
Love it there.
Absolutely thrilled to be there,
But in the process of getting that job,
It really took a few months for that to actually happen.
And in that timeframe,
I was already exiting this current job I was in.
And then I realized I can't do that.
I need to stay present with where I am.
So if this other job doesn't work out,
How can I stay present and be happy where I am right now?
And there was a lot of learning in that of,
I can be happy with where I'm at,
Even though it's not the end point of where I want to be.
I know I want to go on and do more.
I know I want to do different things,
But learning to be happy and learning to be fulfilled in what I'm doing at the moment was huge.
And I jumped in,
I dove in with both.
I jumped in with both feet and just said,
Let me do the best work that I can here present in this moment,
Even though it's not exactly where I want to be in the end.
And that's where the beauty was.
And I was like,
Wait,
I can find joy right here right now.
It's not perfect.
It's not ideal.
I'm continuing to grow,
But I can still show up and be the best version of me that I can be.
And I finally became kind of happy with the work I was doing.
And as soon as I became happy with the work I was doing,
I got the job at this other place and now I'm here.
So it's,
Uh,
That's what happened.
I found my joy,
Even though I wasn't exactly where I wanted to be.
So that's what I talk about honoring your past and not living with regret,
But really living in the moment and understanding that every moment you're living is giving you more clarity and giving you more steps to get forward to where you want to be.
That was a very long story.
I hope my point came across.
Good.
So much tall.
That's beautiful.
I love that you guys are Pamela and Kathleen,
You guys are going back and forth.
The hand says,
I'm ready for it.
I love this so much.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
So how do we set intentions if we're not a hundred percent sure of where we are,
We set in the best intention we can,
We don't reach,
We don't think about what we should do.
We set,
We go more general.
If you don't have the clarity,
Go general intention setting can be as simple as if you don't have the answer,
You don't need to have the answer right now.
So intention setting,
I forget who it was that I just,
You know,
You got the new job and now you're looking to maintain your work life balance.
So my intention is to maintain my work life balance.
You don't know how you're going to do that.
You don't know what that means,
But you're like,
That's,
That's the goal.
My goal is to maintain my work life balance.
I don't know what that looks like.
I don't know how I'm going to do that,
But that's what I want to make.
That's what I want to make sure that I'm doing all of the time.
That's what I want to make sure that I'm doing.
So when I set my intentions in my planner,
I do it every single day when I have a weekly intention that I repeat.
So here are some of my intentions.
Like these are not huge,
Big things,
Super clear it's,
I intend to pay attention to my energy and how it affects my manifestations.
Am I in that space all of the time?
No,
But every morning when I wake up and rewrite it,
I start from that space of,
I want to pay attention to my energy and how it affects my manifestations.
And then when I repeat that for seven days straight,
I'm doing it even whether it's consciously or unconsciously,
I'm paying attention.
And then I have a daily intention depending on whatever's coming up in the day ahead.
So yesterday I wrote today,
I enjoy,
No today I intend to enjoy.
Oh,
I did not write that properly.
I intend to find joy and love and all things and people.
That's it.
I intend to find joy and love and all things and people.
And I miswrote the word intend for enjoy.
So maybe that was some sort of subconscious message to enjoy.
This job is part time during the school year.
So that's awesome.
You didn't know that that's how that was going to be.
You didn't know that that's what you want it,
But you want to continue to maintain it.
So what are some things so I want you guys to really think about it,
Put in the comments,
What are some intentions that you can think about that you can do that you can focus on?
You know,
Kathleen and Diane retiring,
I intend to retire peacefully and with joy.
So,
So simple.
And again,
I'm not speaking for you,
Take what I give you use what works and use what connects with you.
But your goal,
You are the only one who knows what you want.
And what you feel you are the no one else can tell you what you should be doing.
No one else can tell you how you're feeling.
Only you can do that.
Find the joy and things is that beautiful.
So we want to find joy.
Today,
I intend to find peace,
Find joy,
Right?
Find peace.
You know,
A lot of times I really lately have been focusing on my weekly intentions really have been just I intend to pay attention to my emotions.
That's it,
I simply want to pay attention to how I'm feeling.
I want to understand,
I want to find motivation,
Right?
I intend to find motivation,
And simply saying it out loud,
Writing it down.
This is going to be so helpful.
So if you you're either sitting in a I'm so stuck,
I'm procrastinating,
I have no motivation.
Or you can sit and say,
Right,
Today,
I'm going to find my motivation.
Today I'm going to find my motivation,
Whether you find it or not doesn't matter.
If you find it and you get something done.
That's awesome.
If you don't find it,
And then you wake up tomorrow,
And you're like,
Okay,
Missed it yesterday.
I'm gonna I'm gonna continue to work on finding my motivation.
And if we wake up without intention,
We're living life by default.
You can choose to live life by default,
And just taking things that come at you and then reacting to them.
Or you can choose to live with intention and be proactive.
So would you prefer to be reactive and let the external world guide where you are?
Or do you want to be proactive and live with intention?
So intentions are literally us being proactive in our lives and saying,
No matter what happens out there out in the world out in this craziness,
I'm choosing to think and be different.
I'm choosing to find peace.
Even when the world is crap,
And things are falling apart,
I'm choosing to find peace.
So intention setting is being proactive.
Whoops.
We're getting out as Abraham Hicks would say,
We're getting out ahead of it.
So you want to be proactive.
You want to get out ahead of it.
Start your day saying,
Where do I want to be?
Don't let the outside world dictate how you feel and think.
So don't let the outside world dictate who you are,
Who you are,
How you feel,
How you think.
Don't let that happen.
That is so unbelievably important.
Because we watch the news,
We go on social media,
We see what other people are doing.
And then we compare ourselves to what is happening.
Or we see something on TV,
And we're like,
Oh,
That doesn't feel good.
And then it puts us in a crappy mood.
Instead,
Start with intention and saying,
No matter what happens today,
I want to focus on being peaceful and finding joy and finding love.
And maybe you do it for the first 10 minutes,
And then all of a sudden it falls away.
That's okay.
It doesn't matter.
Get up and do it again the next day.
That's why every single day,
The first one of the first things I do in the morning is writing my intentions,
Writing down my gratitude,
Writing down my affirmations,
Because they are so unbelievably important.
I want to get out ahead of it.
I want to get ahead of whatever is happening in my life.
Whatever I have no control over what other people think what other people do,
What happens in the world,
The weather,
The internet,
I don't have control over that.
What do I have control over who I am,
Who I want to be and the actions that I take.
That is the only thing that I have control over.
That is the only thing that I can do.
So if I allow somebody else to dictate how I'm feeling and how I'm thinking that I'm giving up that control.
I can't control somebody else either.
I can't say you need to feel X,
Y,
And Z.
That is out of my zone.
That is out of my area.
That is out of my bubble.
I can't do that.
Allowing you to be you and me to be me.
That's how we live in harmony.
That's how we go about this life.
Because if we're trying to control other people and saying you should be quiet,
I need peace and quiet.
So therefore you need to be quiet for me.
No,
That's not that person's responsibility to take care of you.
You need peace and quiet.
You need to go find it yourself.
That's living with intention.
That's saying this is what I want.
I don't need anybody else to give it to me.
I will give it to myself.
Yeah.
Earl says I will be grateful that the things that I can no longer do have opened up space for new things.
Yes,
That's beautiful.
I love that so much.
That when things fall away from us,
They are opening up space.
All right.
Let me know how this is sitting with you guys.
What's showing up?
I've been very ranty and chatty today.
So let me know how this is resonating.
If we want to shift the conversation anywhere else.
If you want to go anywhere else.
But what I recommend,
And somebody in the very beginning said I'm looking for practical tips.
Listen,
The only practical tip I can give you is to write down your intentions every single day.
You can think them in your head.
That's fine too.
Whatever,
Whatever works for you.
But for me,
It's writing them down every single day.
Every single day I'm doing it.
That's practical because it's constantly on my mind.
Again,
I might forget about it three minutes after I write it 30 seconds after I write it,
But it's there.
And every morning I just start back at that very beginning point.
And every morning I'm a little bit further.
Yeah,
That's beautiful.
Debbie says I open my arms and invite happiness,
New opportunities and new people into my life.
And we don't know how that's going to happen.
But because you're opening up to the opportunity,
And you're welcoming it,
Let's see what comes up.
Let's have fun.
Life is meant to be fun.
It's meant to be joyful.
We don't know what's going to happen.
We cannot predict the future.
We do not know how we don't know that all we know is right here right now.
And what is is what is.
And that's it.
That's the biggest piece that we need to remember and that we need to learn from.
So it's intention setting.
It's simple,
But not always easy.
Because if you don't have the clarity,
You have no idea where you're starting,
But start where you are.
That's it.
Just start where you are.
And every time you take action and you gain more clarity,
That intention might get more and more clear.
It might shift from I open my arms and invite happiness,
New opportunities and new people into my life.
And it just might get more specific.
You might take that one step further in a week or a month or in six months and say,
You know what,
For the last six months I've been saying and I always had intentions where I wrote them out for like three,
Four or five months and just didn't change that because it was just I just needed to get stuff into my head.
I'm like,
I'm still here.
I'm still here in this space.
I'm still trying to figure this out.
So it's not about changing it and every day waking up to a new intention.
It's about being intentional and saying,
Who do I want to be today?
What do I want to do?
We want to be proactive.
But you want to start where you are and realizing that you're going to grow and it's going to change.
You don't know when you don't know how.
So I believe it was I apologize.
The part time jobs.
I'm going to go back to it.
So you got a part time job.
It's great.
I want a part time job where I can be home with my kids.
And then all of a sudden you get that part time job.
You're like,
Oh,
This still isn't right.
Something is still missing.
And then you change it and say,
Well,
I want I want to make sure that I'm home with my kids and that I have X,
Y and Z.
Whatever,
Whatever it is,
It's going to grow and it's going to change.
So I could go back to some of my old planners and give you some of my intentions and they're completely different.
I might have started in one space and started saying,
I want my own business and I want this much income.
I started there.
I used to think getting more income was my way to financial freedom.
That's not it.
I need to be financially free where I am right now.
And then seeing what comes out of it and I will continue to be financially free.
So for a very long time,
I spent a lot of time of I need more income.
I want abundance.
I just need more money.
I just need more money.
That's not what it's about anymore.
It's about how do I become financially free here in my moment right now and how do I appreciate that?
So my affirmation every day is I am financially free and I'm a calm and present parent.
You know,
Things that I'm working on,
Things that I'm trying to be better at.
I'm saying,
How do I do this?
But shifting and changing.
It's not about just getting more money because I had more money and I still wasn't financially free.
So something,
Something didn't work.
I had an experience.
I learned something and I'm like,
I need to reevaluate.
It's not about having the extra income.
It's about having the belief of being financially free and understanding what that means.
And then when the income comes,
I'm going to have even more knowledge to kind of come out this,
But it's starting where you are.
We can't start where we want to be in,
In five,
10 years,
Three months,
Six months,
Whatever it is,
We need to start right here where we are accepting where we are and saying,
How can I be better today?
How can I be more intentional in this moment?
How can I not be so angry at my kids for being so loud and dancy?
How do I do that?
It's a big one for me.
I'm really working on.
I'm actually getting a whole lot better out of the saying.
They're just kids.
They're being who they are,
And it is not my responsibility to change them.
And it is not their responsibility to be quiet and peaceful so that I'm happy.
That's not their response.
That's I'm putting way too much responsibility on that.
So my intention is to just let them be who they are and to be the most calm and present parent that I can be in the moments that I'm there.
Or as Mary says,
I love this intention setting.
It seems so easy to do daily.
I've been trying to write a vision for my year.
The book I use suggested adding a mission which I'm finding part.
Do you write a vision for yourself also?
Yeah,
So intentions will help a vision.
I don't write my vision count.
I have a vision board on my phone.
I'm happy to show you guys.
So it is the screensaver on my phone.
I don't know.
Can you see that?
It's a little the lights a little off.
But anyway,
So that's my vision board.
So I'd say if I have a vision,
These are the things I envision for myself.
And every day I'm looking at them,
Right?
It's I want I want this car that I saw once and I'm like,
Oh,
The coolest car,
Although I feel like that needs to be revamped.
I have financial freedom.
I have a home in an ideal place that my husband and I want to have a vacation home.
So do I have a vision for my life?
Yes,
Kind of.
In my mind,
Is it a written vision that I look at every single day?
No,
Because for me,
Looking ahead,
Even looking a year ahead,
I don't know where I'm going to be in a year.
I don't know what I'm going to be doing.
And that vision is going to change.
So I can you can write a vision if that feels good to you.
But if you're finding it hard to write the vision.
Yeah,
I use Canva and just grabbed a bunch of pictures off the internet.
Yeah.
And then I just put them all together into Canva and then use it as the background.
That's super,
Super easy.
So you have to do what feels good for you.
So for me,
Writing a full on five,
10 year vision feels very daunting and feels extremely disconnecting to me.
So I say this all of the time,
I may not have said it today,
But anything that I talk about or share or tips or practices,
You can't force yourself to do something that doesn't feel in alignment with you.
If it feels in alignment with you,
Do it.
For me,
Writing like a really long vision statement and doing it just doesn't feel that feels too heavy.
Life is supposed to be light.
So there's books,
There's teachers,
They all have really great things that they're teaching and sharing.
But what I think a lot of them don't tell you is you don't have to take my advice if it doesn't feel good.
There's no right way or wrong way to get to your goal.
That's what they're teaching you is likely what worked for them.
But there's probably 1 billion different ways to go about life because there's billions of people on this planet and there's a billion different ways to do things.
So as long as you're doing what feels good to you,
Keep doing it.
So writing a vision statement and mission statement doesn't feel good.
Don't do it right now.
If doing something daily,
Like writing an intention feels really good and light and easy,
Do that.
Because if you're trying to force yourself something to do something that's really heavy,
You're going to add resistance to it.
And if we go to manifestation,
You're just going to add resistance,
It's going to take you longer to get there.
So your goal is to find that alignment and what feels good.
Yes,
I was using legend planner.
I don't know that planner.
But yeah,
You have to do what's right for you.
For some people,
They might be saying,
I love writing my,
My year long vision and visualizing myself.
I don't like I spent almost 60 days doing a manifestation visualization and visualizing what I want my life to be.
In the beginning,
It was really good.
But by the 60 days,
I was like,
This feels really heavy.
And it's kind of like creating more anxiety.
So I stopped doing it.
So I very rarely meditate and do like a manifestation visualization because it just feels I'm so much happier being in the present moment and saying,
Where can I be right here right now today?
That's where I am right now.
In six months,
It might be completely different.
But you have to do what feels good for you.
So when I meditate,
It's background music.
And I've been doing a lot of grounding.
So there's a woman out there.
I think her name is Sarah Jane Chapman.
They're older,
They're from like,
You know,
Four or five,
Six years ago.
And she,
She has a lot of chakra meditation.
So the root chakra,
The heart chakra,
And it's just breathing and just focusing on that chakra and grounding and healing.
That's where I'm at.
That might not be where you are,
You might love it.
I have a manifestation visualization meditation here on insight timer,
That is the most popular people love it.
I don't want to listen to it because it's not where I am right now.
It's not where I want to be.
So you have to do what works for you.
Yeah.
Oh,
You're so welcome.
Yeah.
So then I take my vision and I kind of have that in the back of my brain of like,
This is my vision.
There's this is where I'd like to be no clue how I'm going to get there when it's going to happen.
But it's there I have a vision of being a speaker on a stage and speaking to thousands of people,
How I'm going to get there what I'm going to be talking about when it's going to happen.
No clue.
But I can't focus so much on that vision because it feels I feel connected,
But I don't feel like that's the right place for me to focus my energy right now.
So I'm like,
Where does it feel good to focus my energy and that's right turn and focus my energy.
Yeah.
Remind it me if I want to give the universal I have to tell it my plans.
I love that lie.
You know,
I had a friend who put a quote in one of our yearbooks and it was,
You know,
You want to make God laugh,
Tell him your plans.
Don't make plans.
Just be and you can have that vision.
But you also have to understand that just as you're starting where you are and you're going to gain more clarity,
Your vision is going to change because every time you take action,
Every time you do something,
You're going to learn,
Oh,
I don't really like this.
And I think that's what happened to me over the last couple of years is I had this vision.
I was going to be this entrepreneur.
I was going to be this coach is going to fully work from home.
But then I realized,
Like,
That's actually not what I want to do.
I thought it was,
But I had to go through all those experiences to learn and experience them and understand them so that I could go.
That's not really what I want right now.
I'd much rather be doing this and be teaching and sharing,
But working for somebody else.
But I'm still able to but I'm still able to do all the things that I love to do.
I come on here and I teach.
I have my planner.
But in the office,
I am helping to change lives every day by simply doing what I'm doing.
I'm gaining more responsibility.
I'm taking the skills that I've learned from from blogging and podcasting and teaching and I'm able to to now put that into the office where I'm at and change lives and be a part of those transformations without the stress and worry of this is my own business.
Where is my income coming from?
That's not where I'm at right now in my life.
I have two small kids.
We're in a ton of activities.
I don't want that added stress.
I'm so perfectly happy getting a paycheck from somebody else and doing other work here and there to supplement and being here on Insight Timer.
That's bringing me so much joy and I've learned to stay here in the present moment and appreciate it and saying whatever happens in the future happens.
I have this vision.
I know this vision of me being on the stage is going to happen.
But if I focus so much on that,
I lose sight of all the other stuff happening around me and I don't allow it to happen naturally and flow naturally.
That's that's where I am right now and it's a really it feels really good to be here because for a long time I was pushing and I wanted the success and I wanted to do this and I wanted it now and I wanted it really quickly but saying,
You know,
I've got success right now.
I've got happiness.
I've got joy and because of what I'm doing,
I'm not completely stressed out and I can go help coach my son's basketball team and I can be there at all the basketball games and I can work my schedule around their stuff and it's it's really incredible to find that weight lifted off your shoulders off my shoulders of I don't have to stress about that anymore and this feels really really darn good.
Yeah.
So lots of tangents today a little less writing just be that just be so I don't have much else.
There's not much else coming download it for me.
If you guys have any thoughts or comments,
I'm more than happy to sit and hang around and and to chat with you guys for a little bit longer always happy to do that.
So thank you guys.
So if you're heading out and you've got other things to do,
Thank you so much for joining me on this Saturday morning and being here to discuss and talk about setting intentions your support and your love means so much to me and allows me to do this and this fills my cup even though I wake up a little bit earlier.
I sometimes have a rushed Saturday morning.
I always leave here feeling really really good and really really happy.
So I hope you all can feel the same way.
So thank you so much.
