Good morning and welcome to this fun gratitude meditation to help get you in the mindset of appreciation for your day ahead.
My name is Wana and I am delighted to be joining you in your morning routine.
This is a beautiful practice that you can return to daily.
Begin by taking some time to find a comfy position,
Whether that be right on top of your bed,
A yoga mat,
Or chair.
Seated or laying,
Just make sure you have a straight spine as it will allow for you to breathe more easily.
Once you've found your sweet spot,
Close your eyes and take a few deep gentle breaths to really settle into this moment.
Inhaling in through your nose and exhaling out through your nose if that comes easy to you.
Notice your chest rising and falling,
Feeling the breath as it enters and leaves your body.
Your breath is your life force and one of the most miraculous things about it is that it works without you even having to think about it.
Just like the blood pumping through your body,
It is something that happens naturally.
Why not take these next few deep breaths to really give thanks for this incredible power that keeps you alive without you even having to give so much as a thought about it.
Now let's continue to expand on this feeling of gratitude that we are cultivating here.
What we focus on grows after all.
So on your next exhale,
I want you to place your attention on the area around your heart.
With your attention on your heart center,
Bring to mind someone you are grateful for.
Why do you feel grateful for them?
What do they bring into your life?
How do they make you feel?
Imagine them standing right in front of you and take a moment to silently express your appreciation for them face to face.
Next,
Move on to a few things that you feel blessed with in your life.
Whether that be your job,
Your school,
Your home,
The food in your fridge,
Even the beauty of the natural world around you.
Let those things both big and small fill up your heart with joy.
Why do you feel grateful for them?
What do they bring into your life?
How do they make you feel?
Finally,
Let's find some appreciation for yourself.
What do you admire about yourself?
What makes you unique?
What do you like about your body?
Even if you think that you have every reason to dislike your body,
Give some appreciation for the fact that you would not be sitting here if it wasn't for it.
Give thanks for what it is capable of doing,
For how it helps move you around and interact with the outside world.
Go ahead and place one or both hands on your heart.
With each inhale,
Feel the gratitude you have been cultivating inside your heart.
With each exhale,
Visualize this gratitude as a white light expanding throughout your entire body.
See it move across your chest,
Your arms and hands,
Your legs and feet,
Filling you right up.
So inhale gratitude in through your heart and exhale this gratitude throughout your entire body.
Keep this cycle going on your own for a few moments now.
As you move about your day,
Keep in mind the bigger picture,
What you have cultivated here this morning.
There are many more things to give thanks for than there are things to push against.
It's up to you to decide what you will focus on.
And I hope it's gratitude.
That makes all the difference.
If you find yourself stuck in a difficult,
Stressful or less than pleasant situation today,
Use your inhale to connect to the gratitude in your heart and use your exhale to send that gratitude within you out into the world.
We have now come to the end of our meditation.
So when you're ready,
Shift your focus from your inner world to your outer one.
Start by bringing back some slow movement into your body.
Wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes and open your eyes.
Take one last big inhale and exhale to land into this wondrous present moment.
It's now my turn to give thanks.
Thank you for joining me in this simple but powerful gratitude morning routine.
It truly is an honor to guide you.
I hope to have you join me again tomorrow.
And if you feel so inspired,
