Hello and welcome to this meditation to help you alleviate any form of suffering with four simple questions.
My name is Juana and I am honored to guide you on this journey of healing and self-inquiry today.
We'll first begin by dropping into stillness.
If you haven't done so already,
Find yourself a quiet and comfortable space where you won't be disturbed.
Close your eyes and tune into your breath.
How is it doing?
Is your breath shallow or deep,
Strained or easy-flowing,
Short or long?
There's no right or wrong answer here,
Simply notice what is true for you in this moment.
Ask yourself,
How can I breathe in a way that brings me a bit more grounding and peace?
Listen closely to your inner wisdom and bring forth more calm.
Indeed,
There's a well of wisdom that already exists within you.
Let's dive deep and access it together.
I'd like you to bring to mind your cause of suffering,
The resistance you are experiencing.
Recall the specific situation that is causing disturbance within you.
Who or what upsets,
Angers or saddens you?
Why?
If any hard emotions surface,
Sit with them,
Don't resist or make them wrong.
They are allowed to be here.
Give yourself permission to fully feel.
Be with your emotions,
Hear them out.
Painful emotions are the alarm bells that wake up to tell you it's time to do the work.
When you believe your negative thoughts,
You suffer.
When you don't believe them,
You don't suffer.
It's as simple as that.
Suffering is optional.
This is as true for you as any other human out there.
Developed by American speaker and author Byron Cady,
The work is a method of self-inquiry.
A very simple but highly effective tool for expanding consciousness to gain a higher perspective and in doing so alleviate suffering.
There are four liberating questions to ask yourself,
And we will take each one by one.
Now,
With the belief that is causing you pain in mind,
Ask yourself the following.
1.
Is it true?
Is this story true?
Don't overthink it.
Allow whatever answer comes forth from within.
2.
Can I absolutely know that it's true?
3.
How do I react when I believe this thought?
4.
Who would I be without this thought?
Tune into yourself and listen.
Now let's find the turnaround,
The opposite of the thought in question.
So for example,
If your thought is,
I need someone to act a certain way in order for me to be happy and at peace,
The contrary of that would be,
I don't need anything from this person in order to be happy.
It's believing that I do that is keeping me unhappy.
Go ahead and uncover it.
What is the opposite of your belief?
Is it as true or truer than the original thought?
Allow your own insight to shine through here.
This turnaround gives your consciousness an opportunity to expand,
To see things in a different light rather than being stuck in a limited reality of your making.
With continued practice and intent,
You can use Byron Katie's wonderful work to sort through any problem you are facing,
So be sure to return to this recording anytime you need it.
I'm always here for you.
Before we transition out of this meditation,
Take this moment to honor yourself for showing up in this big way and choosing to deal with problems in a healthy manner.
It's not always easy to face ourselves head on,
But it is always worth it.
Breathe in gratitude for the work you did here today.
I am so very proud of you,
And I hope you are too.
Remember to be compassionate with yourself as you navigate through all of life's turbulent moments.
You'll come out of it that much wiser and stronger for it.
And when you're ready,
Feel your body to earth ground connection anchoring you into the here and now.
Wiggle your fingers,
Then your toes,
And slowly open your eyes.
Thank you for joining me.
Please do share any insights you received,
I always love hearing from you,
And celebrating your breakthroughs,
Both big and small.
Hope to have you join me again on another inward journey real soon.
Blessings to you.
