Hello people,
Welcome to this meditation.
Do you have a busy mind and struggle with your thoughts?
Maybe the thoughts are quite destructive and they are not feeding you much constructive energy.
Maybe being self-aware of them is too much for you at this present time as you may get brought into the stream of thoughts and waste energy in the destructive cycle of thought.
If this is the case,
There is a lot of energy in your mind that can be transferred for better use.
So here,
We are going to transfer the energy of the mind to the hearing.
The hearing is often a forgotten about sense,
Especially in relation to meditation.
So let's just close our eyes if you already haven't.
Bringing ourselves inwards,
Inwards,
Inwards.
You may have thoughts of the day or the day to come and this is completely normal.
Focusing your awareness on your hearing.
Hearing the rain dropping off the earth.
Every splash watering the ground.
Hearing the different pitches of each of the drops.
Do some drops splash harder than others?
Do others fall more gently?
Letting the sound come into the ear canal.
Let them be processed.
You are just listening,
Using this important sense.
No need to create stories of the sound.
You are just listening.
Now let's change the sound to a stream.
You are just listening once again.
No matter the sound,
Allowing it into the ear canal.
Each moment is a different sound.
As each moment passes,
Let go of the old and move on to the new.
If you have any thoughts or you are getting brought into the stream of thoughts,
Bring yourself back to the hearing.
Transferring the energy of the mind to the hearing.
Hearing doesn't require listening.
Hearing doesn't require thinking.
It happens naturally and you can notice it through awareness.
Allowing the stream of water to flow safely in and vanish for the next moment.
Notice for different sounds as the water never flows the same way.
Now let's listen to the crackling of a fire.
Can you notice how each moment is different?
Each fire crackle is different.
Some high pitched,
Some softer.
Even if you may not like the sound and it creates some comfort inside yourself.
Notice this and feel.
This is an interesting phenomenon in and of itself.
Anything that comes up inside yourself is an opportunity to learn more about yourself.
Lean into your own comfort if it's there.
Now let's gently open our ears to some forest noises.
There is a lot going on in the forest.
You can zone in on some things or just listen as a whole.
The most important thing is to fully listen and allow whatever is coming into your ear canal,
Which means acceptance of the sound.
Even if you feel uncomfortable,
That's okay.
Now let's listen to a more persistent sound.
A constant sound.
Noticing how it passes through your ears.
Feeling the sound.
Although there is a persistent tone,
There is slight changes,
Slight alterations.
Can you notice them?
If you feel yourself wandering off,
Bring yourself back to the hearing once again.
All of your energy is in the hearing.
Great job.
Then as this meditation comes to an end,
We are going to bring some appreciation to our hearing.
Life would be a lot different without sound.
Appreciating even the most mundane or annoying noise and seeing it as a beautiful thing is an art form in and of itself.
Thank your sense of hearing for its beautifulness.
We can really be practical with hearing,
Bringing a sense of structured listening into our lives,
Not as a chore,
But as an art form,
As a form of curiosity.
If we are anywhere in our lives and our thoughts are very busy,
Tune into your hearing.
No matter what the sound is,
Hear it without making any stories up about it.
It can be very grounding and bring you right into the now,
Which is the only place we exist really.
So let's move our bodies around,
Giving ourselves a nice stretch and opening our eyes.
Thank you for listening to this meditation.
Have a great day or night.
