Hello everyone.

Welcome to this meditation on loving your physical pain.

That statement may be quite unusual to some people.

Loving your physical pain?

Why would you do that?

Pain is bad.

Well,

When we become aware of ourselves and start to accept our own pain in a loving manner,

Magical things start to happen.

From repression to expression.

Changes from within change your reality of the outside world.

So let's begin this meditation by closing your eyes.

Coming right into this current space.

With a gentle awareness.

Notice what is happening for you right now.

Within your body.

Or within your mind.

Or both.

Just noticing.

Is your mind busy?

Just noticing this.

It's okay if it is.

The mind does what the mind does.

Not resisting.

Just noticing.

Is your body active or fidgety?

What way is it positioned right now?

Is it touching a chair or bed?

Just getting in touch with these little moments.

The simple things.

There's nothing you need to do,

Only notice and watch.

Whatever comes up.

It's okay.

It's coming up for a reason.

And the body will handle it.

You don't need to do anything.

Now we are just going to take a full deep breath.

Into your nose.

Breathing in courage.

And out through your mouth.

Breathing all stress out of your body.

You're doing excellent.

Let's take a moment to notice our pain.

Just taking your time.

Not rushing yourself.

Just noticing it.

Where is it located within your body?

Just a gentle notice.

We aren't going fully into it.

Just bringing it up a little bit.

You see the pain has been like an abandoned dog.

Who is just scared and frightened.

You have to approach them carefully.

Gently.

With compassion and love.

The dog may be whimpering away in a corner right now.

It's had it's trust broken before.

Trust needs to be built again.

True love.

Search deeper into the physical pain wherever that may be in your particular body.

Notice what's coming up.

Is the pain sharp?

Or is it dull?

Is it very subtle?

What sensations are being given off by the body?

Heat.

Tingling.

Warmness.

An uncomfortable feeling.

Notice.

It's okay if you don't feel anything.

Just watching the pain.

If there is an uncomfortable feeling.

That's okay.

The body knows what to do.

You don't have to do anything about it.

It will express itself however it wishes.

Resisting it will only reinforce it.

Then going further into the pain.

Approaching the abandoned dog with an arm stretched out.

The dog may whimper.

It may cry.

It's okay.

You're developing the trust with it.

Whatever it may feel like.

The area may feel uncomfortable.

Uncontrollable.

Try to let it be.

Give it freedom to express.

Now if you can reach your pain area.

Give it a nice rub with your hands.

If you can't.

Just imagine yourself giving it a rub.

Rub it with love.

With compassion.

With generosity.

You're here to parent this pain.

Nurture it.

Take care of it.

Accept it.

You rubbing your pain is like you petting the abandoned dog.

The abandoned dog needs love just like any other dog.

Your pain needs love just like any other sensation.

Acceptance and awareness is love.

Keep on rubbing the area as best as you can.

Making it all cozy and warm.

Like you're feeding the abandoned dog.

Giving it a nice bed and some food.

It deserves love.

Not to be abandoned,

Beaten and battered.

This area that your body is pain coming out of.

Grows on love and acceptance.

It doesn't grow on hatred and anger.

If you have that inside of you.

That's okay as well.

It's where you're at right now.

Remembering that resistance.

Is reinforcement of the particular thing that you resist in the first place.

Keep on rubbing the area and saying with me to the area.

I love you.

I am here for you.

I am here for you.

I am here for you.

I am here for you.

I am here for you.

I am here for you.

I am here for you.

Excellent.

You have done so well.

For the next few moments.

Allow whatever that comes up to be there.

Remembering that the pain is tucked into bed.

Fed and watered.

Like the abandoned dog is.

You're safe.

Allowing comfort or discomfort.

You don't have to do anything but to be here.

Your body sorts it all out.

Well done.

Then as this meditation comes to an end.

Know that the pain and the abandoned dog inside of you.

Has been fed and watered.

Maybe with some patience and trust.

The abandoned dog will become a regularly loved part of your family.

Then moving our bodies back around.

Coming back.

Back.

Back.

Then opening your eyes.

Well done.

You were so brave in that meditation.

I hope you enjoyed.

And I will see you soon.

All the power to you.

Bye for now.

This was a very powerful meditation. My left hand was hurting so I was able to grab my lavender lotion and give it a massage during the rubbing the painful area part of the meditation. Thanks very much for doing this.

Thank you for this powerful meditation. Trying to trust that what I experienced was right for me. I cried through most of it. I’ve been suffering for a long time and am completely debilitated by pain.
