For most of us, our past contains some unpleasant or painful memories. As we know, that’s part of life. It’s how we’ve processed those painful experiences, however, and what we continue to tell ourselves about them, that can make the biggest difference in how our past affects the present, and how much suffering we experience. That is, if we continue to tell ourselves negative things about our past, the negativity is what will remain.

Hi,

It's aura.

This is the memory and present time meditation.

Find a quiet place to sit.

Close your eyes.

Feel yourself where you are right now.

Note the room,

Any sounds,

Thoughts,

Feelings,

Or bodily sensations.

Invite yourself to be present in your meditation.

Tell yourself it's okay to let everything and everyone go.

Release any tension you might be holding in your body.

Put your focus and awareness onto your breath.

Take a few deep breaths in and out.

If your mind begins to wander at any time,

Bring your focus and awareness back to your breath,

Which will always bring you back to the present moment.

Think of an unpleasant time or experience from your past.

See yourself watching it like an observer or a witness,

As if you were watching a play.

Think of yourself as the director of this memory play,

Telling you and whoever is in it with you what to do,

And change what you remember from your experience to something entirely different.

You can be wearing whatever you want,

Doing whatever you want,

And having whoever is in this memory play with you,

Doing exactly what you want them to do.

If anyone in this memory play has an intention to hurt you,

See yourself in control and in the power position,

Averting any conflict or harm.

If someone in your memory play has hurt you emotionally,

Or you've hurt them,

See yourself or them saying,

I'm sorry,

Or I forgive you.

If someone in your memory play is ill,

Tell them you surround them in healing light,

And if they're dying,

Tell them that it's okay to leave this earth and that you love them.

See yourself as strong and powerful,

And imagine a bright white light surrounding you from head to toe.

Say silently,

I am more powerful than anyone or anything outside of myself.

Say silently,

Nothing or no one has a heart.

Has a hold on me or my memory.

Say silently,

I am the creator of the thoughts and images.

The truth I hold in my mind.

Say silently,

I am free of the thoughts and images.

I am free of my past.

I am free of my past.

Leave this to yourself as many times as you wish.

When you are ready,

Slowly open your eyes.

Be aware that you are still in the moment of now and that there is no need to rush out of it.

Take as much time as you need to transition out of your meditation.
