Hi everyone,
Paul Collos,
Sacred Spiral Yoga.
Today we're going to take a short meditation to help release emotional patterns that recur over and over and appear to be stuck and we feel trapped in the cycle.
So I'd like to invite us to get into a comfortable position.
Seated is great with the back straight,
Feet apart and flat down.
We'll begin with a few generous breaths to calm and center ourselves.
Without over exaggerating,
Take a deep full inhalation and preferably through the nose.
Hold this for just a moment and then release completely in a flush type exhalation through the mouth.
As we do the breathing,
Consciously release tension in the body.
Come into present-minded attention and also to intend inner quietness and balance.
So we'll take a second one now the same way and even a third one as well.
So we'll feel a sense of pause now,
Mentally,
Physically,
Emotionally and spiritually.
So we can continue gently breathing with no forcing,
Overt noise,
Just being aware of the breath in a conscious way.
Slightly slower inhalations and exhalation that we're going to use as an ongoing breath pattern.
This also helps to anchor our attention for a while as we concentrate on the breath.
Almost come back to the breath because we are going to take some different aspects of consciousness through this conscious breathing process.
Notice how the in-breath is an opportunity to gather new fresh energy,
Intent.
The exhalation is an opportunity to release feelings and thoughts we do not wish to hold any longer.
We can carry on for a few more simple breaths with this intention.
Sometimes it's helpful to even imagine the feelings and thoughts flowing away from our body as we breathe out.
Flowing away like a grey mist.
We can breathe in a pure white mist of fresh clean energy.
As we do this,
Know that the process works on all levels,
Emotional,
Mental,
Physical and in spirit.
Stay calm,
Peaceful,
Centered,
Relaxed,
Balanced,
Noticing the inhale and exhale.
Now I would like us to briefly recall the emotion and thoughts that are most bothersome.
The triggers or environment that seems to perpetuate this.
If we feel the feelings coming up,
All the better.
So we can now,
Via our imagining and the process that we just looked at,
Perhaps adding a few key words,
Gather it all up,
So to speak.
And carry on our gentle breathing process.
Focus more on the releasing of the exhalation.
As we do this,
Intend and know that there is an actual energetic action that occurs.
Our breath and especially our intent to change the situation is very powerful.
And is a way of managing our own inner alchemy of thoughts,
Feelings,
Intentions,
Attention,
Emotions.
Whatever we focus on energetically grows in our awareness and has ripple effects into our lives.
As we continue gently breathing and intending to release the old patterns that no longer serve us.
Know that this meditation for positive change literally changes our consciousness.
Know that we need to clear out the old to make way for the new.
So let's switch our intention now to see and know in our feeling,
Thoughts,
Words.
That that we wish to experience in place of the old repetitive patterns.
Keep the words simple and brief,
Thoughts and feelings from within our will and intent.
Claim and know that this new more preferred consciousness is yours.
Breathe this in gently but firmly.
Every inhalation reaffirm this in an easy practical way.
Now let's change the focus one more time.
As we continue to breathe gently and consciously.
We should also know that our beliefs,
Especially the more subconscious ones.
Are very powerful and operate behind the scenes,
So to say.
To shape the kinds of perception we have of any experience.
So let's do a third type of intentional breathing.
To open our awareness to our own beliefs and perspectives.
To gain awareness of how those shape our reactions,
The triggers within our daily lives.
Breathing gently in,
Breathing gently out.
Sometimes this awareness will come later after we've done the meditation.
Or even later in the day,
Or even tomorrow.
Without awareness we cannot change anything.
So once we can see more clearly the situation on the inner layers.
It becomes easier to make healthier choices.
We can choose different beliefs based upon our new level of awareness.
Make a firm decision to reach for a different perspective.
And honor these within our own self.
Our self-value,
Respect and willingness to move forwards into greater equanimity.
Unity,
Self-empowerment and knowledge.
