Welcome to a guided meditation on finding balance in this ever-changing world.
None of us can control all that is happening around us,
But we can tend to our own inner balance,
Our own equanimity in the face of change.
The poet Riekhan said,
Although from the beginning I knew the world is impermanent,
Not a moment passes when my sleeves are dry.
We can breathe with this wisdom of change and respond with compassion and kindness.
Calming your body,
Coming into stillness,
Connecting with your physical body and being.
Feeling all the places your body is in contact with the ground.
Noticing the physical sensations that are present in all the places of contact.
Noticing all the points where your body is connected to the earth.
Dwelling in these physical sensations for some moments.
Now,
Expanding your attention to notice what sensations are present in your whole body.
Resting in this whole body awareness.
Noticing all the points where your body is connected to the earth.
Finally paying attention to whatever you are experiencing.
Just noticing what body sensations are here now that want to be acknowledged and received.
Now connecting to whatever sensation calls your attention most strongly.
It may be unpleasant or pleasant.
Resting with and accepting what is here in this moment.
Now,
Noticing what thoughts or stories,
If any,
Arise around this body sensation.
Notice what you are experiencing.
Holding these thoughts or stories with kind,
Gentle awareness.
Now connecting to your breath.
Let your attention be soft and pliable.
Holding the physical sensation of breathing in your awareness.
The rise and fall of each breath.
Allowing this rhythm of breathing to calm your body and your mind.
Now,
Repeating these phrases to yourself.
Breathing in,
I calm my body.
Breathing out,
I calm my mind.
May I be balanced in this ever-changing world.
Breathing in,
I calm my body.
Breathing out,
I calm my mind.
May I be balanced in this ever-changing world.
All things arise,
Abide,
And then pass away.
See the wisdom of acknowledging this truth.
All things arise,
Abide,
And then pass away as conditions change.
All things arise,
Abide,
And then pass away,
Including joys,
Sorrows,
Pleasant experiences,
Painful experiences,
Animals,
Plants and trees,
People,
Loved ones,
Those you struggle with,
Buildings,
Cities.
Countries,
Whole civilizations.
All things arise,
Abide,
And then pass away as conditions change.
Breathe with this truth.
Breathing in,
I calm my body.
Breathing out,
I calm my mind.
May I be balanced in this ever-changing world.
May I be open to change.
May I respond to change with compassion and equanimity.
Breathing in,
I calm my body.
Breathing out,
I calm my mind.
Breathing out,
I calm my mind.
Breathing out,
I calm my mind.
May I respond to change with compassion and equanimity.
Expanding these well wishes to all beings through space and time.
May all beings be balanced in this ever-changing world.
May all beings be open to change.
May all beings respond to change with compassion and equanimity.
May all beings be balanced in this ever-changing world.
May all beings be open to change.
May all beings respond to change with compassion and equanimity.
