A deeply relaxing yoga Nidra guided by Rachel Hanrahan. This yoga Nidra is modeled after the ancient yogic practice of Shavayatra which consists of progressively sensing various parts of the body in a systematic order whilst drawing on the understanding of a western approach to the sensory and motor cortex. The practice develops sensitivity to tactile awareness helping to loosen tension whilst you are gently guided into a deepening relaxation response. 12 minutes.

Hello it's Rachel Hanrahan.

Let's get ready for a yoga ninja practice and our focus is on what's called the hollows or the spaces within your body.

So let's get comfortable in a position that will help support you deepen into a state of deep self-inquiry.

You might prefer to be lying down or seated,

Just really meet your body where its energy is at and find a nourishing position for your body right now but where it's at.

So making yourself as comfortable as possible,

Sensing the support of the earth beneath you and the meeting points between your body and that support beneath you and a sense of feeling this formless energy that holds you to the earth.

The gravity,

Iron in your blood drawn down to the iron in the earth,

You can't see it but it's undeniably there holding you,

Supporting you.

Now let your attention be at the mouth,

Notice the textures,

The qualities,

The sensations through the mouth,

Moisture,

Dryness,

Awareness to all that's present here.

And then draw your attention to the hollow of the mouth,

This sense of the hollow of the mouth,

To the hollow of the tongue,

To the hollow of the throat,

The hollow of the nose,

The hollow of the cheek sinuses,

The hollows of the ears,

Inner spaces of the ears,

The ear canals,

Inner ear,

The outer ear,

All the hollows of the ears,

The hollows of the eyes,

The hollows of the brain cavity,

The hollows of the back of the neck,

The hollows of the armpits,

The hollows of the elbows,

The hollows of the palms of your hands,

The hollows of the elbows,

The hollows of the armpits,

The hollows at the base of the throat,

The hollow of the chest,

The hollow of the upper back,

The hollow of the middle back,

The hollow of the solar plexus,

The hollow of the abdomen,

The hollow of the lower back,

The hollow of the sacrum,

The hollow of the pelvis,

The hollows of the hips,

The hollows of the knees,

The soles of the feet,

And all the hollows together,

Drawing all the hollows together,

Allowing all the hollows together to merge into a global body feeling,

And sense the feeling of space surrounding your body,

The feeling of space in all directions around the body,

And bring that space feeling into one whole,

And sense the body feeling beginning to merge into that space feeling.

Sense that the space is merging with the body feeling into one feeling,

No centre,

No periphery,

A sense of the witnessing presence dissolving,

And simply resting in being.

Take a moment here and simply rest in being.

Spacious and whole.

Whole and complete.

Ever so gently now,

Letting go of the practice,

Preparing to awaken refreshed and revived,

And ready for your day.

Thank you for joining me,

This is Rachel Hanrahan.

Lovely voice, message, and the top notes of the music were very relaxing, but the background high-pitched notes were not for me. I’ll try some of your other meditations because your voice and tone are very soothing. Thank you so much, Rachel. 🙏🏻💚

Very nice, original exercise! Different from what I am used to and therefore I stayed very focused. Good guidance and very relaxing.

Thank you. It was long time ago that a yoga nidra brought me into that state of being. To start with the mouth was new and brought me straight to awareness of my body. The repetition from the sentense was calming and also was your voice and subtile sound on the background. I feel refreshed and whole.🙏
