There is a music and non music version of this meditation as everyone has different preferences. This mantra meditation is inspired by the work of Poppy Child.

Welcome to the period pain meditation.

Find a calm quiet spot,

Set the lighting nice and low and do whatever you need to do right now to get as comfortable as possible.

Allow your body to move how it wants to move,

Rocking,

Swaying or simply lying still.

Take some nice deep belly breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth like you're blowing out a candle.

In and out.

Out,

In and out.

If you feel called to do so,

Deep low vocal sounds can also offer some relief.

All of these calming techniques are encouraging your body to release oxytocin,

Our own natural pain relief hormone.

Let's go back to the breath now,

In through the nose,

Out through the mouth.

In through the nose,

Out through the mouth.

I trust my body.

I am calm,

I am safe,

I am relaxed.

My body was built for this.

I am changing my relationship with pain.

I will no longer let pain frighten me.

I am prepared to let go of any fear or anxiety around this bleed.

My body knows what position to be in and I trust it to lead me to where I need to be.

I totally trust my body to do the work.

I am prepared to sit with this pain and ride this wave each breath at a time.

In and out.

In and out.

I totally accept and embrace the pain I am feeling with this period.

This pain is part of me and I am strong enough to get through this.

I trust my powerful uterus muscle to do the job it was designed to do.

I am in awe of the power of my body and the magnitude of strength I have to get through this.

With each wave of pain I let go more easily and as I connect deeper to my wound I surrender to her more.

Knowing that she knows just what to do.

I allow myself to be vulnerable and release any fear I have around this pain.

I am letting go.

I trust my body to take the lead.

I let the waves wash over me as I go deeper and deeper into relaxation.

My body moves instinctively and freely.

I use sound to relieve any tension I feel.

I breathe deeply and calmly and it helps my body to let go.

I trust my body and I hold no resistance.

I am free.

I am safe.

I am whole.

There are times when the pain feels too much but I trust myself enough to know that I will get through this.

Everything I need is inside of me.

I trust my innate power and wisdom to guide me through this.

I allow myself to relax completely and wholeheartedly.

My body knows exactly what to do and I follow its lead.

All my muscles are soft and relaxed from my head,

Jaw,

Neck,

Shoulders,

Arms,

Back and chest.

Down through my belly,

Hips,

Legs,

Knees and feet.

I feel in control and at peace.

I am held.

I am safe.

I am whole.

There is nothing stronger than the power I hold within even this pain.

When the pain comes I let go with all that I have and trust my body and breath.

To guide me.

All is well.

All is fine.

I am safe.

I am calm.

I was built to do this.

I know what to do.

I am powerful.

I am strong.

I can do this.

I can do this.

I can do this.

I can do this.
