Hello everybody and welcome to Meditation 7.
So today's meditation is based on mantra,
Mantra meditation.
And so this position is based on being able to help us come to a place of inner stillness.
So the mind is filled with incessant hammering and chaotic thoughts all day long and it's impossible for the mind to experience the true nature of this peace.
So what is unnatural is to continue to have the mind hammering out these 50,
000 thoughts a day.
So the body and the neuropeptides of the brain attempts to respond to these constant thought streams sending stressed cells to every part of the body resulting in burnout and disease.
When the constant chattering of the internal dialogue is stilled,
Union with your higher self is returned to its natural state and so too is the body.
A mantra simply helps you introduce a new thought into the sea of thoughts already chattering in the mind.
This process begins to turn the thinking mind around into a new direction which is inward and it causes it to think at deeper levels which quietens the mind and brings the left and right hemisphere of the brain into more coherence.
So over committed practice and time all of the conditioned stresses and addictions to thoughts and beliefs from childhood and conditioning will eventually dissolve as you'll no longer engage or fixate or grasp or react to them.
And so let's just rest again and put our attention on our breath allowing us off to move into that quiet empty deep ground of our own being,
Our own inner stillness,
Our own inner quietness.
And we're allowing everything to be just as it is,
Finding that stillness within,
Letting go of any restlessness of the body,
Relaxing and getting in touch with any spaciousness,
The spaciousness and the silence that is surrounds us,
Getting in touch with the spaciousness and the silence in the gap between my words and dropping your attention down into the heart,
Into the core of your being,
The core of the soul.
We're getting in touch with that spark of the soul,
The spark of the light,
The spirit within.
And what we're going to do now is just notice when any thoughts arise.
So you're resting deeply within.
It's quite normal that a thought will come into your mind and as normal will,
Notice the thought and most the time follow,
Run off with the thought or tell another story about that thought.
Or there might be sounds that distract us.
So there's thoughts or sounds or maybe the body,
Sensations of the body might distract your attention from this inner peace.
So we're just noticing that there's different components that can take our attention away from the inner silence and the inner peace.
And so what we're going to do with this exercise is we're going to just drop a thought into the sea of thoughts.
And the actual or the sentence or the mantra that we're going to drop into the sea of thoughts is actually also a calming thought.
It's a nice thought.
So the ego,
It's sort of like patting it,
Taming it.
It's not a struggle thought.
And so we're just going to say,
I am love.
I am love.
And now the ego might try to question that.
But again,
This is an exercise just to help us calm the stream of thoughts.
So a thought might arise and you say,
I am love.
I am love.
Quite a few thoughts might arise and you just continue to say,
I am love,
Gently,
Even on your breath.
And then you might hear a sound,
There might be some distractions of sounds around you.
When you hear a sound,
Just like a thought,
These are just objects.
Then we're just introducing another thought.
So we're introducing another object into the stream of objects.
But this is a calming object.
This is I am love.
And there might be times when you feel something in your body,
Maybe sensations in the body might distract you.
And again,
You just drop the simple mantra,
I am love.
You're dropping it in between the space,
The space between yourself and sensation.
The space between your inner being and the thought,
I am love.
The space between yourself and the sounds.
So you're just dropping I am love into the space in between your deep,
Peaceful inner self and the movement that may try to distract you from that place.
So we're staying in the center and just dropping the thought,
I am love.
If anything tries to distract you or take your attention away from that beautiful,
Peaceful inner core.
So you just continue to practice that for a while.
I am love.
I am love.
I am love.
I am love.
I am love.
I am love.
I am love.
