Hi,
This is Johnson Chung,
The author of Sage Sapien,
From Karma to Dharma.
This is a piece of poetry that can be used as a guided visualization into gratitude.
A daily gratitude practice can help us appreciate all that we have accomplished and all that we are.
And so whenever you're ready,
You can choose to sit upright on a chair or a cushion or perhaps even lay down.
Whenever you're set up,
Close the eyes,
Remember to take deep breaths in and out,
And simply remain open to receive.
I am grateful.
I am grateful for that moment when you remind me to be grateful,
To be grateful for all that is and all that I am.
It's a curious thing why I became overwhelmed with what I don't have.
This zeroing in on the missing parts ends only in pulling me apart from the inside.
I know this,
Yet the hunger for more,
For what's next,
Keeps my mind occupied between the future and the past.
This is why I am forever grateful for that moment when you remind me to be grateful.
You remind me to count my victories without letting even the small ones slip through the cracks.
You remind me that I have enough and that I am enough.
You remind me of how far I've come.
You remind me that the road ahead is an exciting one and not one to be feared.
You remind me that I am supported by the fullness of your love.
And for this I am forever grateful,
Grateful for all that you are and all that we have learned from each other,
Gifts that I will treasure in the memory of my heart.
I am grateful for all your words of encouragement and your words that kept me in humility when I became arrogant.
I am grateful for the hugs that melted all my worries,
Doubts,
And fears.
I am grateful for your listening ear that never failed to hold me in a field of non-judgment.
I am grateful for the heart-to-heart conversations,
Dream shares,
And stepping into your optimistic views on the irredeemable qualities of human behavior.
I am grateful for the soulful prayers exchanged through your loving gaze in those silent moments when I could feel the whole of my heart cracking open.
I am grateful for your love expressed through the transparency of your truth.
I am grateful for this very moment in time to reflect on how blessed I actually am.
Take a deep breath in.
Take a deep breath out.
Inhaling through the nose.
Exhale sigh through the mouth.
Fill up with gratitude.
Each inhale full of gratitude.
Each exhale.
Grounding this gratitude into the heart.
Feel this gratitude expand into every single cell of your body,
Into the bones,
The blood,
Out into your energy field,
And into the space beyond it.
Allow this field of gratitude to eradicate any doubts or worries or fears.
This field of gratitude is all-encompassing.
It is grateful for the challenges and the upsets.
It is grateful for the pain and the hurt as much as it is grateful for the experiences of joy and laughter and lightness.
Use the breath to become grateful for all of it.
To become grateful for all that is.
Spend the next three minutes continuing to inhale gratitude.
Exhale,
Anchoring that into the body,
Into the energy field.
Letting gratitude visualize what it is that you are grateful for.
And then exhale,
Infuse that energy of gratitude into your bones.
Off you go.
Last few moments of breath here.
Whenever you are ready,
Bring your hands to prayer in front of your heart and start to friction your hands,
Building some heat.
Find stillness and feel the energy between the palms,
The magnetism of your hands,
The connection of the sun and the moon,
Of masculine and feminine giving and receiving,
Now the chin into your chest and humbly receiving this gift of gratitude.
And thanking yourself for allowing yourself to receive the medicine of gratitude.
Thank you for listening.
I appreciate you for taking this time to care for your spirit.
Until next time,
Have a beautiful day.
