There can be lots of reasons why we don't feel safe when it comes to travel and specifically the form of travel that is flying.

Lots of us can hold negative associations here,

We can hold fear-based beliefs and we can get really caught up in the worry and in not feeling grounded.

Take some compassion for yourself here that you are by no means the only one who feels this and that we quite literally are not grounded when we're in the air.

So naturally for many people being in the air can bring up all sorts of feelings.

This can be to do with not feeling as though we have an obvious exit or a quick and easy exit.

This can be to do with control and not feeling as though we're the ones in control and placing our trust in someone and something else.

And it can be to do with not feeling as though we can create that sense of being grounded in ourselves and in our body.

So let's start to practice this today so that if you are traveling in this way you can give yourself the best opportunity to do this in a calmer way.

So let's remember how we want to start any practice,

How we want to come into anything is by giving ourselves the chance to actually slow down,

To actually feel grounded.

So I understand if your breathing might feel a little off right now or even just the thought of thinking about this thing that you maybe are holding some fears around may be causing your breath to have got a little more shallow.

So can you allow your breath to deepen?

Can you allow your breath to slow down?

This is going to give your body the best opportunity to regulate.

Breathing in slowly,

Breathing out slowly.

You choose through your mouth,

Through your nose,

Go with what feels right for you.

As you're breathing give yourself some compassion for this feeling.

Give yourself the compassion that this is totally natural,

Totally normal and that you're not alone in the feeling.

But as with any feeling we can work with it.

It doesn't have to be perfect,

We don't have to be perfectly calm but can you lean into the idea that there is a calmer version of you when it comes to this form of travel.

I want you to start to picture yourself as you breathe showing up to the airport in a much much calmer way.

Despite the chaos that airports can sometimes bring you are ready and you are able.

You have everything you need,

You've got your passport,

You've got your tickets,

You've got everything you can need in your bag with you.

No worries there.

You feel confident as you approach the check-in,

As you approach the desk or the machine in front of you.

You know that there are no problems with your passport,

With your ticket,

With all your belongings.

You are there just as you need to be,

Just everything that is required from you.

You're able to do,

You do not need to worry about.

And you're surprising yourself as you're doing this part already,

How calm you feel.

You can recognize that there have been times where you've not felt this way but you're not concentrating on that now.

You're focusing on where you have come.

You're focusing on this much more regulated way you feel in your body.

And you begin now to smoothly move through security,

Not holding on to any fears or negative associations here.

You do not need to worry because there is nothing you need to hide,

Nothing you need to worry about.

You simply place your belongings into that tray,

It goes through smoothly,

You go through smoothly.

You notice the security staff just gently smiling at you,

Ushering you through,

Welcoming you in.

Nothing to worry about,

Nothing to fear.

Imagine you have a little time now to do whatever it is that feels good to you.

No rush,

You tune out the energy of everyone else.

Perhaps you just want to take a seat,

Perhaps you want to get your favorite drink,

Perhaps you want to get a book to read on the plane.

You get to choose.

And when you're ready,

In perfectly good time,

You see the gate is open and you are feeling good,

You are feeling aligned,

You are remembering where you are off to and all the good things that are about to come.

Moving through the airport with ease,

Imagining yourself,

If you need to,

In a protective bubble of light,

Imagining that no one's energy can knock you off balance here.

Arriving at the gate and you feel ready,

You feel confident,

Nothing you need to worry about.

You show your passport,

You show the ticket,

You move through to the plane with ease,

Feeling so confident about this trip.

As you move through now onto the plane,

You're greeted with a smile,

You're greeted feeling safe and secure,

You are greeted by people who do this every single day,

Who know what they're doing.

And you allow yourself to trust in them,

You allow yourself to be held by them.

As you take your seat now,

You get yourself nice and comfortable and you draw upon everything you know.

So you are going to breathe deeply whenever you need to,

You are going to do maybe some tapping if that feels good,

You're going to focus on maybe some podcasts,

Maybe your book,

Maybe some journaling,

Maybe some music or films.

That is all you need to do for this time that you're here.

How refreshing that you can be held in this container when nothing is needed of you.

Can you allow that to be the case?

Can you allow it to be that nothing is needed of you and that you are being held by others that you can trust in?

You begin to focus less on the container that is the plane you are held in and you begin to remember that the container that nobody can change,

That nobody has any control over,

Is the container that is you.

This is your safe place.

You know how to balance your body,

You know how to feel good in your body,

You know as you enter the sky that you are safe and if anything runs through your mind that doesn't feel good to you that's okay.

Come back into the container that is you,

This safe wonderful container that is your body.

This is where you're truly held.

Affirm to yourself that you trust the people who are in charge of getting you from A to B.

You allow them to do their job rather than you feeling like you need to know how it all works,

What they're doing and what's happening.

You trust others to know more than you do and that's okay.

All you need to do is go into your good place in your body.

Remembering all the reasons why you're setting off on that journey,

Remembering how exciting it is,

What opportunities are opening up to you.

Knowing that people are there should you need them,

Draw upon that support of anyone traveling with you,

Draw upon the support of the air host or hostess,

Ask them for some support if you're needing it,

That's okay.

Before you know it you are arriving in the place that you have chosen to go and you are arriving safe and sound.

How good it feels to have let go of needing to be in control of this situation,

How good it felt to trust in this path and to trust in your ability to keep coming back to your good place.

As you arrive you feel so proud of yourself,

As you put your feet on new ground,

Maybe grounds you have never been on before,

You allow yourself to be filled up with so much self-trust and so much confidence that you can carry yourself anywhere in the world and still find a safe place within you.

Affirming as many times as you need to that you are safe,

That you create your own container and that you let go of the things that need not be in your control,

You trust those around you to support this journey.

Rolling your shoulders back,

Blinking your eyes open when you're ready,

Come back to the space that you're in.
