Hello my dear Harkonners.
Today's meditation is an exercise in cultivating the spiritual fruit we observed yesterday.
As we enter today's meditation,
I encourage you to be still.
This is not to say to not move a muscle or to focus all your attention on maintaining absolute stillness.
It is simply to say that if you have to reposition,
Simply reposition and resume being still.
And that is perfectly fine and in fact expected.
And if your mind wanders,
That's okay too.
Everyone's mind wanders.
This is also to be expected.
And when that happens,
Just gently bring your mind back to the present and do not judge or monitor yourself for it.
And once you are still and without judgment,
You will naturally flow into a spirit of peace and loving kindness.
For your body posture in this meditation,
Once again,
Sit in a cross-legged or another comfortable seated position that promotes calm and focus for you.
As always,
Make sure your back is straight.
For your hand posture,
Touch the tips of your pointer fingers to the tips of your thumbs and extend the other three fingers on both hands.
You can rest your hands on your knees or have them slightly raised at each side.
The three extended fingers symbolize openness to receive,
While the pointer fingers and thumbs symbolize connectedness.
The circle itself that is created with the pointer fingers and thumbs symbolize infinity or eternal.
This hand position represents a connectedness to the eternal,
A connectedness to the infinite receiving of the eternal,
Of the infinite.
Whenever you are ready,
I invite you to repeat this phrase with me,
Either silently in your head and heart or out loud.
Self-control is putting what you want most above what you want now.
Self-control is simply putting what you want most above what you want now.
Self-control is putting what you want most ahead of what you want right now.
With our hearts,
Minds,
And spirits connected to the eternal,
Receiving from the infinite,
Let us just take a moment to consider and observe what we want most.
What do I want most?
What do I want most?
Perhaps we don't even know the answer to this question.
Perhaps we have to ask for the answer to this question.
Perhaps we have to receive the answer to this question.
What do I want most?
What do I want most?
Now let's shift our focus to what we want right now.
What is it that we want so badly right now that sometimes gets in the way of what we want most?
What do we want right now that sometimes gets in the way of what we want most?
As an example,
If what I want most is to be fit and healthy,
Something that could easily get in the way of that that I could easily want right now is junk food.
Ultimately,
I want to be healthy more than I want to eat junk food.
And yet sometimes,
The immediate want wins over the ultimate want,
And that is perfectly fine and in fact expected.
And with that,
Let's just let go of whatever it is that gets in the way of what we want most.
Let go of what we want right now.
This hand position we're observing also signifies a letting go.
So let's just take a moment to visualize that immediate want just drifting away,
Just floating away.
Finding the space for what we want most.
And then let's just take another moment to focus once again on what we want most.
What we want ultimately.
What we want more than anything.
And then let's just return to our quote by Abraham Lincoln and repeat that phrase a few more times.
Self-control is putting what you want most above what you want right now.
Self-control is putting what you want most above what you want right now.
Self-control is putting what you want most above what you want now.
Thank you for meditating with me today,
My dear Harkonners.
May you continue to put what you want most ahead of what you want right now.
And may grace and peace,
Light and love,
Be with you always.
