Named after the Celtic God; Mabon, Son of the Earth Goddess. Night and day are again of equal length and in perfect equilibrium. We can use this special time of crossing over the seasons to reflect on what we have learnt as we let go of our troubles like the trees releasing their golden leaves. Welcome to the Autumn Equinox or Mabon. In the Northern Hemisphere: September this is 21/22 in Southern Hemisphere: March 21/22

Welcome my darlings.

Welcome as we turn the wheel of the year once more and arrive at Mabon,

The autumn equinox.

Autumn is a beautiful season as nature shows us how graceful it can be to let go.

As the trees shed their leaves of golden colours,

They draw inwards,

Drawing their energy and attention into their trunks to prepare them for the winter ahead.

Perhaps we celebrate a little bit of this idea of drawing inwards ourselves during this time.

And what better way than with a restful meditation?

So take your time,

Find your restful place,

Laying or seated,

Wrapped in whatever layers bring you most comfort.

The autumn equinox is a time of balance,

An equal split of day and night as the dark half of the year draws in.

But within this growing darkness is not something to be feared,

But a chance,

A chance to rest quietly in the dark,

To find calm and stillness in the evenings.

So as we rest into our easeful place,

Maybe we close the eyes or let the gaze be soft,

Allowing the body to sink and settle.

As we allow any tensions or tightnesses or busy thoughts to fall from the body,

Like leaves falling from branches.

In today's day and age,

And together forever,

And μ•ˆμ— vineyards,

Income,

Harvest and Invisaging ourselves as a beautiful tree,

Tall,

Elegant and strong.

You are covered in a beautiful tapestry of autumnal colours.

Leaves in reds and oranges,

Browns and yellows.

Gold and copper.

And here in your tree fall as you face the winter season ahead.

But enjoy the autumnal sunshine while it is still with us.

Our meditation is a simple one.

As trees we simply allow ourselves to let go.

To let go of the leaves.

To release them to the earth.

They may represent tensions,

Worries or fears.

They may represent regrets or mistakes.

It is time to let them go now.

To stand tall as a tree.

Allow these beautiful coloured leaves to fall from your branches.

To release them.

To let go.

To release.

To release.

To release.

To release.

To release.

To release.

To release.

To release.

To release.

To release.

The beautiful coloured leaves now scattered on the floor beneath you.

Create a beautiful tapestry of colour.

Of golden tones and copper hues.

Allow yourself to see the beauty in what you have let go of.

This collection of colour may represent fear or worry.

Old arguments and grudges.

Regrets and mistakes.

But there is beauty in it still.

Because every leaf,

Every colour,

Represents something learned.

Something that has allowed you to grow.

So perhaps we thank these leaves.

Letting them go.

But embracing all they have taught us.

As we move into the autumn season.

Perhaps a little lighter.

A little wiser.

And having taken this time to let go.

May we spend this darker season.

Resting.

Nourishing and soothing.

So that when spring arrives.

We burst forth in beautiful colour.

Beautiful blossom once more.

As with all things there is a cycle.

There is time to blossom and bloom.

Time to rest.

Time to let go and to learn.

I will leave you now.

To take your own time to reflect.

On what you have let go.

You may stay here.

With your tapestry of colours and leaves for as long as you wish.

I will play a gentle chime as we come to the end of our meditation today.

I wish you a joyful and colourful Mabon.

Wonderful. Just the thing I needed today. The subtle/minimal use of music is especially impressiveβ€”it slowly grows and builds but never overwhelms the recording or the process. A great intro to season/sabbat-based meditation for newcomers to the practice, and certainly worthy of playing annually. Minor note: the chime signaling the end (after a long period of silence) is a bit quiet, so be mindful of that. (I think it’s intentional in case you wish to continue on your own.)
