PLEASE NOTE: These are unedited recordings from live sessions held each weekday morning online. Please keep in mind the context when listening. During this session, there is a 3 to 4-minute teaching followed by a spacious guided meditation. The meditations are spacious intentionally so that you can feel into your own experience rather than me talking through the whole 20 minutes.

Good morning So Just imagine for a moment that the sky in its vastness it's just been the sky Imagine for a moment that a cloud passes through this sky and the sky suddenly believes it's the cloud and it's a storm cloud forget what it is and it gets involved in this storm cloud and then it starts to think where's the sky?

Where's my peace gone?

Why is life why is it all turbulent?

What's going on?

That's what human beings are like we move away from this the sky represents presence or awareness whatever you want to call it just different names for the same thing your very own being pure being and what we do we move away from that into this virtual reality and we call that my life all we're doing here is noticing that almost constant at first identifying with thought with only ego-centred thought self-centred thought with that tendency to go into this sense of limitation because self-centred thinking is based on limitation and fear that's the two main qualities of ego-centred thinking and the wisdom of your true nature the wisdom of sky-like nature Buddhism uses the sky a lot to represent our nature just this sense of presence the qualities of that are freedom love,

Compassion that's what comes through and to live as you were meant to live that's not quite accurate but it'll do it's so different it's just there's a sense of ease that you're constantly what if and I need to get this done and you're halfway through that I need to do that of course they're going to be here at two o'clock he's a vegetarian,

What am I going to do that's the overwhelm that we experience it's made up here in the head all that we're saying here is notice this tendency and the more you notice it the less you will do it you don't have to create this shiny new self this shiny new being you don't have to do that this is not something that's rewarded at the end of being good it's not about being good it's all these images and metaphors but it's so simple we keep doing worry we keep doing anxiety that's what we do 90% of the anxiety is just made up and then the emotions come on board that's another kettle of fish we're in the thoughts for a few moments we have some strong content to them some anxious content then the emotion of anxiety follows now it's really troubling really the whole practice is notice when you're on one of those rides when you've identified with thought because that's the problem,

It's the identification and just come back to this sense of presence come back to awareness itself just come back rest here and if there's emotion just feel it which we're going to have a meditation on this just be here take a deep breath relax into the body and what's here right now is there something troubling you is there some emotional discomfort just feel what's here might be a sadness might be a physical a more physical heaviness or tightness just feel it just experience it without a story what does it feel like feel the texture of this something if you were to touch this what would you feel like so we're just exploring just learning to dance with it rather than pushing it away or trying to change it just let it be does it have a shape does it have a colour you have to be interested just feel what's here maybe this something maybe a physical sensation or more emotional it doesn't matter it may want to say something to reveal something to you listen to it if you feel sad or afraid or whatever just allow it to feel that way it's got permission to be as it wants to be just notice if you get lost in thought just release relax back into the body into presence making sure that you are relaxed you haven't tensed up just staying in the body all you need to do is just to feel what you find without the story without analysis without all the labels just silently witnessing silently feeling so you can just begin to open your awareness to sit with a of a sense of expansion including more of the senses noticing the hearing the parts of the body feel the breath as it comes and goes resting in the body resting in being letting it all just happen what we feel we heal and you can begin to bring this session to a close open your eyes if they're closed have a little stretch and that's it wonderfully simple okay,

Thank you guys bye now bye bye

Love this one. These 20 min guided sessions are an anchor for my practice these days. So grateful.

These are my favorite kind of guided or pre-recorded meditations. simply sitting with whatever is here. The poem you read we read every Monday night at a in person meditation I attend. Along with Cynthia Bourgealt’s welcoming practice from her book. These type of meditations are what finally helped me process my emotions. Thank you.
