This is part of my daily morning routine and one that I often find myself suggesting to clients who are experiencing a period of stagnancy, freeze, and stuckness. As lymph within the body begins to find greater flow, because of how pervasive it is through the body, it is often accompanied by a greater sense of lightness and embodiment, which sets us up well for meeting our day ahead. This practice is from Dr Perry Nickleston, who I've been fortunate to learn from. Do hydrate well before and after this practice, and note that it is not advisable if you are pregnant, have heart issues, acute infections, or have been diagnosed with cancer.

Beginning our practice by leaning into the support that's already meeting you.

If you're sitting up in bed as you're engaging in this practice,

This might be the sense of the headboard at your back,

Or a sense of the bed underneath your legs.

With your next few exhales,

Allow the weight of your body to rest down and back.

We'll be connecting into six main areas of our body today.

Each of these have concentrations of lymph nodes,

And we'll be engaging in light,

Rhythmic touch at each of these places.

Lymph sits just underneath the surface of our skin,

And when we use too much pressure,

We'll end up constricting the flow.

Lymph by itself requires external movement through massage or through exercise in order to be pumped through our system.

And I like to think of lymph as liquid light,

Because as we start to invite more movement into our lymph,

Often it's accompanied by a feeling of illumination from the inside out.

A sense of lightness,

Flow,

Maybe even warmth.

And let's begin up at the first place,

At our collarbones.

This is the primary draining point of our lymphatic system.

And letting your fingers on both sides find the hollow just above your collarbones.

We'll be engaging in a light,

Rhythmic pulsing of 40 times here,

With that intention of wanting to stimulate the lymph flow right under where your fingers are.

Moving to the second place,

Just underneath the earlobe,

Behind the jaw.

Lightly pulsing there again,

40 times.

Moving to the third area next,

We'll do one side at a time.

Letting your four fingers go into the nook of your armpit.

And again,

Pulsing here for 40 times.

Switching to the opposite side,

Four fingers into the nook of your armpit.

Pulsing for 40 times.

Moving to the fourth location.

This is right in the middle where your lower ribs meet,

In the region of the solar plexus.

Letting both hands begin to invite a pumping here,

40 times.

We'll be continuing to invite a pumping in a vertical line as we move down towards the belly button region.

So pausing,

A little bit lower down from the solar plexus,

Pumping 40 times.

Moving a little lower,

Another 40 times,

And a little lower,

Until you arrive just above the belly button.

Really taking your time here to stimulate that lymph flow into this region.

And we'll be moving to the fifth area next,

Which is our groin line.

We'll do it one side at a time.

Letting your fingers find their way to the left groin line,

Or bikini line.

And inviting a pulsing here,

40 times.

Moving over to the right side this time.

Again,

Pulsing here for 40 times.

Keeping the touch light and rhythmic,

Holding the intention of inviting flow.

And we move to the sixth and final area,

Behind our knees.

So if you are sitting up in bed,

You might want to bend your knees here.

And let both hands find the bottoms of your knees.

It might feel a little puffy.

And again,

Like before,

Pulsing here 40 times.

And having invited a little bit more movement and flow at each of these concentrations of lymph nodes,

We can engage in some movement here to further amplify that flow.

If you're still feeling to remain in bed,

You might begin to invite a slight rocking action through your body.

Might be side to side.

It might be a pulsing of your feet,

Or shaking of your legs,

Your arms.

Or if you might already be feeling a little bit more energized,

You might choose to instead come to standing.

And as you're standing,

Starting to invite a shaking into your body.

A bouncing through your whole system as if you were like a spring that is anchored into the ground.

Bouncing as a full body experience here,

Supporting a further flow of that lymph throughout your entire body.

Letting yourself carry this lighter,

More freely flowing version of yourself into the rest of your day.
