Hello,

Welcome to your meditation practice.

My name is Becca and I'm grateful to be here with you today.

This practice is all about sinking and feeling held while you're sinking.

Often through our day-to-day experience,

We feel like we have to hold ourselves up.

Maybe it feels like you're treading water and it takes a ton of energy to tread water.

It takes a ton of energy to keep our heads above water,

Do all the things,

Stay on top of it all,

And sometimes we just want to be able to let go and not have to feel like we're treading water so much all of the time.

So this practice is about letting yourself sink and feeling safe to sink,

Experimenting and seeing what it feels like to sink and what's possible for you.

When you're ready,

Finding a comfortable seat or laying down and taking a big deep breath in and letting it go and just connecting to what it feels like to tread water.

Does your day-to-day feel like treading water sometimes?

What does it feel like in your body?

What's happening in your mind?

What's happening in your heart?

If it's helpful to actually use the visual of being in a body of water where you're swimming,

Maybe you're actually treading water.

You have to keep all of the balls in the air.

Maybe you're even juggling while trying to tread water.

And just for a couple of minutes in this safe space in your body and your being,

I want you to imagine that there is a bubble of air and light that forms around you.

And it allows you,

If you're juggling,

It allows you to stop juggling.

If you're treading water,

It allows you to stop treading water.

And you're sitting on the surface of this body of water and you're allowed to just come to stillness here and you're looking around,

Looking around at maybe other people in the water around you,

Shallower,

Deeper,

On the beach,

Wherever anyone is,

Or maybe there's no one around you,

Maybe you feel alone.

And here you get to decide if you want to stay here,

Relaxing in this beautiful bubble of air and light,

Or if you want to venture down into the ocean and see what's below the surface.

See what's happening on the floor,

Knowing that you're protected and you can sink.

You are safe to sink.

You are safe to let go of treading water,

Juggling things,

Doing stuff.

You can let go.

What happens to you or within you when you let go?

With this bubble of light and air protecting you,

Holding you,

Keeping you safe,

What does your being naturally want to do?

Does it want to lay on the floor of the sea or sit up and just watch the fish swim by?

Or if you're still at the top of the surface,

Just looking around wherever you are in this body of water is perfectly okay.

This is simply just a practice of noticing what happens when you let go of treading water,

When you allow yourself to sink,

And getting curious about what might happen now.

What happens now for you,

Noticing if there's any images,

Words,

Affirmations that come through your heart or your mind.

There's any sensations in your body that arise as you sink,

Potentially,

And see if there's anything that you need moving forward as you move back to the surface.

If you're not there,

If you remove this air bubble,

This light bubble that's around you,

What happens and what do you need?

What happens in your being when you think about treading water again,

You're juggling all the things,

What do you need?

And taking one more big deep breath here and giving yourself exactly what you need.

Maybe you don't want to tread water or juggle,

What does that look like?

What do you do differently?

Maybe you need a unicorn rainbow flotation device.

Maybe you need to swim to the beach.

Maybe you ask for some help from a nearby neighbor or something else.

Listen to what you need.

If the eyes were closed,

Opening them,

Looking around your space,

Wiggling and stretching in any way that feels nourishing,

Coming back into your life,

Into your day,

And moving forward with any insights or needs that you've realized in this practice.

I wish you well the rest of your day.
