Hello and greetings.
My name is Erin Musick and this is a meditation focusing on embodiment,
Sensation,
Breath and pleasure.
I'd like to invite you to get comfortable in a position that feels supportive and where the body can feel held and is able to relax.
You can sit up or lie down.
So whatever feels more comfortable for you.
And really just finding a space where you can feel really supported and comfortable.
Where you can really settle in,
Not needing to do much in the way of adjustments.
So supporting your head,
Ensuring that your spine is straight and your heart is open.
And as you're getting settled in,
Starting to just arrive,
Noticing where your body is contacting the surface beneath you.
So you might be on a chair,
On a meditation cushion,
Or maybe lying on a yoga mat or in your bed.
And as you're connecting with the surface beneath you,
Starting as well to connect and notice your breath.
Just noticing your natural inhale and noticing your natural exhale.
Nothing that you need to change or do,
But just observe.
Being a curious observer of your inner terrain,
Like an exploration of sorts.
And gently now scanning your body,
Exploring with curiosity and connecting with sensation.
Noticing where things may feel open,
Maybe where things feel more tight or constricted,
Maybe sore,
Maybe warm,
Maybe cold.
And maybe there are spaces where there isn't much in the way of sensation,
Where there might be numbness.
There's no right or wrong,
Good or bad.
Nothing that you need to do,
But you just get to notice.
Starting at the top of your head,
Scanning and observing,
Continuing to breathe easily,
Exploring the top of your head,
Down the side and back of your head.
If you're lying down,
Noticing the contact between the back of your head and the surface beneath or behind it.
Scanning into your forehead,
Into the muscles around and between your eyes,
Moving into your cheeks,
Your jaw,
And your mouth,
And your tongue.
Scanning your ears,
The base of your nose,
Your tongue,
Scanning your ears,
The base of your skull,
And down into your throat and neck.
Continuing to breathe and continuing to just observe.
Scanning through your collarbones,
Tops of your shoulders,
And down each arm,
Traveling down biceps,
Triceps,
Elbows,
Through your forearms,
Into your wrists,
Down into your hands,
And out your fingertips.
Scanning through your torso,
Through the front body,
Your chest,
Your heart center,
Into your solar plexus,
Into the belly,
Above your belly button,
And then below.
Scanning the back body,
Again noticing any contact points between your back and the surface beneath or behind it.
Upper back,
Shoulder blades,
Down through the mid-back,
Scanning through the ribcage,
Front and back,
All the way down to your low back,
Connecting at your hips,
Scanning into your hips,
Your pelvis,
Into your pelvic bowl,
Into your pelvic floor,
And into your buttocks.
Just scanning and breathing and noticing.
Our body is this infinite vessel of wisdom and it's a lovely thing to be able just to offer ourselves the space to notice,
Check in,
And see what's there.
And then scanning down each leg,
Tops of our legs,
Hip flexors,
Into our thighs and our hamstrings,
Our knees,
Down through our calves,
Shins,
Ankles,
And then down into our feet and out our toes.
So just taking all of that information and just noticing now what feels familiar,
What feels comfortable,
What feels inviting in your physical body,
What might feel unfamiliar,
Maybe uncomfortable,
What feels maybe uncharted,
What emotions arise as you explore,
What thoughts or stories or memories surface.
Working right now to be the most gentle witness,
Just holding this safe and loving space to explore,
To sense,
And to see.
Noticing what's there.
Can you allow yourself to hear what your body is speaking to you?
Can you hear its whispers?
Or perhaps it's speaking more loudly?
What is your body calling for?
Just noticing what naturally arises to these questions.
Whatever comes doesn't have to be logical,
It doesn't have to make sense,
Doesn't have to come from the mind.
We're speaking to the body and we're making space for it to speak to us.
What is your body calling for?
Is there anything that it might need more of or less of?
Can you just hold space for your body in this moment to receive its message,
To allow yourself to tune into its wisdom,
To its offering,
To your first knowing.
Breathing here now,
Continuing to breathe,
Feeling the weight of your body,
Connecting with sensations as they arise,
Sensing into all that the body is speaking to you.
Nothing again that you need to do with it.
There's nothing right or wrong,
Good or bad,
No problems,
Nothing to fix.
Just being in this space now with this beautiful vessel of wisdom,
Your body.
I am going to offer some words of encouragement and appreciation to your body.
If it feels good,
You can speak these words along with me or just allow,
If nothing else,
For them to land and for your body to receive them.
Your body is wise,
My body is wise,
My body is wise.
It is powerful.
My body is my ultimate guide.
Your body tells you when you're safe.
My body tells me when I'm safe.
It tells me what I like and what I don't like.
Your body helps you to find and speak your truth.
Your body opens you to love,
To pleasure,
And to joy.
My body opens me to love and pleasure and joy.
My body allows me to create.
It is my connection to truth,
To wisdom,
And to my power.
Your body is infinite.
And as you connect with the knowing that your body is deeply held in pleasure and in sensation and in safety,
Inviting you now to sense into what pleasure feels like in your body,
It lights up.
Where do you feel it in your body?
Is there a temperature to it?
Does it feel light,
Does it feel light,
Heavy,
Spacious,
Tingly?
Is there a color that you imagine?
Is there a particular scene or memory?
Does this sensation move?
Can you sense vibration,
Perhaps a pulsing,
Pulsing?
Or maybe it's like a wave.
Pleasure lights up in our body like joy,
Like love,
Like excitement,
Like play.
Thinking of butterflies and anticipation,
The beating of your heart in your chest,
But in the best way.
Allowing yourself to just feel into the experience,
Just being in pleasure,
In enjoyment,
Savoring it and drinking it up.
Knowing that this experience is so accessible to you anytime,
Anywhere.
All you need to do is come back into this beautiful body and you can imagine something pleasurable or do something pleasurable.
Giving yourself full permission now to allow yourself to be in these experiences,
Savoring your pleasure.
What do you imagine when you think about savoring?
Perhaps eating delicious food or smelling delicious things.
Letting your senses guide you,
Enjoying pleasurable touch and being fully in pleasurable experiences.
Fully present,
Fully conscious,
All in right there.
Telling your body that you are so grateful for its guidance now,
For its capacity to fully feel as it does,
For its wisdom and for its patience and persistence in continuing to show you.
Thanking your body for being your guide,
Your ultimate source of wisdom,
Offering yourself,
Offering your body the following.
You can repeat out loud or repeat just in your mind.
To my body,
I will honor you,
I will take care of you,
I will listen to you,
I will enjoy you.
Thank you for your wisdom.
Thank you for this gift.
Allowing that offering to wash over that physical body,
Noticing what arises,
Perhaps a swelling in the heart space,
Perhaps some tingling,
Maybe some other emotion that may be arising as you offer yourself permission to be in this beautiful,
Pleasurable,
Life-giving space.
Coming back to breath now and starting to invite some gentle movement back into the body,
Honoring the work that you have just done,
Sending gratitude and love to yourself for holding this space for you today to do this work.
Inviting you to place your hands on your heart and taking a few deep breaths here now,
Releasing on the exhale with an audible sigh,
Honoring your heart and thanking it for being open to receive this gift from you today.
Honoring the energy that you're currently in,
The space that you have created within your body,
The space that you have created in your body,
The sensations that you have connected to,
And the relaxation and openness and enjoyment that you have created within your physical body space.
Shifting with movement now,
Gently noticing what you need in this moment,
Stretching,
Maybe rocking from side to side,
Some gentle twists,
Or maybe reaching above your head,
Lengthening and stretching.
When you're ready,
Slowly opening your eyes,
And if you're lying down,
Making your way up to a seated position,
Pausing for a moment.
Beautiful work.
Thank you so much for joining me for our practice today,
And enjoy the rest of your day.
