This is day 11 of a guided meditation series for developing a personal practice. We focus on the pranamaya kosha, the energy body. Create the image of optimal vitality and welcome in the flow of life with ease and resiliency. We use the hand mudra 'Vittam' which places inward-facing cupped hands, placed in front of the abdomen, expanding outward and inward to encourage deep breathing while visualising optimal health. Can be used as a standalone practice

I'm Tanya.

Welcome to today's meditation.

Today we're going to be working with the koshas and the koshas in the yogic system are basically sheaths.

We can look at them as Russian nesting dolls and a word that's used very little in terms of the koshas is also treasures.

So we can think about the treasures of our body.

Basically it's a map of our body from the physical body,

The emotional,

The mental,

The energetic and spiritual.

And today we're going to be working with the energetic body.

So the pranamaya kosha,

Basically it's the vitality of our body.

Prana in yoga is life and prana can be also considered the types of food that we bring into our body,

The impressions that we take on in the world,

Touch that we receive,

Fresh air.

All of these things help to build vitality in our body,

Even this meditation helps to build vitality in our body.

So we use a mudra and this mudra today is called the vitam mudra.

And the vitam mudra basically means vitality.

So this mudra and this practice today is going to instill a sense of vitality in the body.

So go ahead and get comfortable and your eyes can be closed or open.

And let's just settle in and feel the space literally between those hands.

So just kind of as kind of a force field of energy and just kind of bring your attention here.

So with your next breath in,

I'd like for you to expand your hands outward,

Deepening the breath and then on your exhalation,

Draw the hands back together.

Inhaling broadening the hands,

Widening the hands and exhaling drawing those hands towards one another.

Exhaling and exhaling.

Drawing the hands out,

Literally moving them maybe even outside of the width of your body and then drawing them back in just below the navel.

Exhaling on the inhale,

Expanding almost three dimensionally,

Pulsing with the breath and then drawing it back in.

Inhaling,

You can keep up with my pace or if you have your own pace.

We'll breathe in for five,

Four,

Three,

Two,

One and exhaling five,

Four,

Three,

Two,

One.

Let's keep going,

Just expanding those hands out with a breath.

Those are relaxed and down,

The gaze is soft,

Jaw is soft,

Couple more rounds like this.

And now I'd like for you to envision a color of vitality.

So what is the first color that comes to mind of vitality?

Is it green?

Is it white?

Is it yellow?

What do you associate vitality with?

And bring this color as a light in this region in between the hands and this color is pulsating with your hands,

Radiating outward and then inward,

Illuminating.

I was taking a few more moments here to really feel this and let it begin to radiate beyond the hands maybe,

Even going down the legs,

Feeling it maybe even in the pelvis area.

Maybe it's moving up in the torso,

This color of vitality,

This radiant light of vitality.

Maybe it's going into the heart and radiating out through the arms.

Now just rest your hands on your lap or on your abdomen if you're lying down and just stay with that pulsation,

That flow of energy.

So the prana,

The life is essential to life,

Essential and without our breath,

Without this flow,

Life would cease.

Continuing to cultivate this illumination,

This luminosity of vitality.

This loosens our grip,

Loosens rigidity.

We become more fluid,

Invoking even the water element of fluidity,

Of flow.

And in this flow,

We experience optimal vitality flowing in us and through us.

We flow with the natural flows of life,

The eddies,

The times of stillness.

And we pulse with this life.

We pulse with this flow that moves in us,

Through us,

Around us.

We let go of rigid thinking,

Rigid labels,

Any rigidity that we hold onto,

Optimal vitality flowing through us,

Through me.

Having a sense of emotional harmony and balance.

Optimal vitality flows through me with each and every breath.

Optimal vitality flows through me with each and every breath.

I flow with life with ease and optimal vitality.

I flow through life with ease and optimal vitality.

I flow through life with ease and optimal vitality.

I flow through life with ease and optimal vitality.

I flow through life with ease and optimal vitality.
