You follow the ocean and we appellant of singing,

Cause some people never say so,

When all there is your love high above Rescued or Just making sure that you are in a comfortable place,

Open and receptive to the energy transmission,

Making sure that your body is upright or if you're lying down that you are in a comfortable place,

Not constricting any parts of your body so that you're able to breathe in a full and profoundly comfortable way.

It's very important to relax the body and to be open and receptive.

There is a neural link when the body is scrunched or constricted,

The neurons in the brain don't fire and wire in the same way.

There is stress when the body is not relaxed in this way.

So it's very important that we spend a little bit of our time,

Awareness,

Mindfulness,

Just investigating our bodies and the way that we communicate with our bodies because we're so used to communicating with the mind.

We're so used to conceptualizing and trying to perceive things from this space,

The mental space that somehow dominates our experience of communication.

So the neural communication that happens between body and mind is sometimes lost and we don't even realize when we're uncomfortable,

Only when there are symptoms.

You're sitting in a way that all of a sudden your leg perhaps gets those tingling sensations,

You know,

Or your arm falls asleep or something happens and you recognize,

Oh,

This is not a comfortable position.

So you change to another uncomfortable position usually.

And it's simply because we don't have such an awareness of the body.

And why am I speaking about this?

Because we continue to look more deeply into what it means to be kind and loving in a generous sort of way.

And for most people,

When the body is constricted or when there is a lack of communication between mind and body,

Then generosity is not a very important aspect of one's reality.

Because if we're in pain,

If we're in physical pain and our bodies,

The energy within our bodies is not actually moving in that way where we can free ourselves from constrictions or limited thoughts or limited feelings or limited physical sensations,

Then very often we come back and center our attention on ourselves,

On the pain that we're feeling in the body.

And sometimes this is even,

This goes beyond our thoughts,

You know,

So we're not recognizing that that's what we're doing.

Very often it's like lack of sleep.

We just,

All of a sudden,

The energy within our bodies don't help us to come back to this generous,

Loving and kind space.

It creates more an agitation,

Provokes the limbic brain into thinking that there is something wrong.

Even if we don't recognize that we're uncomfortable,

That's the thing.

The limbic brain recognizes,

Oh,

There's something wrong here.

I'm constricted.

I'm not really free.

I'm not sure why the energy isn't flowing.

And your mind might be sort of busy with,

I don't know,

Working,

Doing something on a pro,

Like researching a project or at work,

Busy with the boss.

And you don't recognize the communication that's happening at this level of interaction between the brain and the body.

This is very,

Very important when it comes to generosity and happiness.

It doesn't mean that you have to have a perfectly relaxed and happy body to experience generosity and happiness.

It's one very,

This is a very important point that doesn't take very much time if you spend a few moments of your meditation or of your whatever,

At work or whatever you're doing,

Even if you're not practicing meditation at the time,

Just a few moments to sort of scan the body and recognize if there are any constrictions that then are creating energetic and mental constrictions around you,

Within you,

Within your experience,

Within your perception.

That's a very powerful decision.

There is a very powerful decision that you can make here.

And that decision is that you can change things,

That you have that freedom to change things.

You have the freedom,

For example,

To stretch and open up the body.

You have the freedom to recognize perhaps that there are certain muscles that need attention,

Either because there is too much stress and anxiety that is being held within these physical aspects of your body,

The muscles.

And so a massage or just stretching or you can,

There are so many ways to heal the muscles that,

Once you recognize that this is going on for you,

You can say to yourself,

Okay,

It's really important that I pay attention to this part of myself and address it now rather than wait for later,

Which never comes anyway.

So this is a very important aspect of the communication of generosity and happiness is that you are grounded in your physical body,

But the physical body doesn't have to be perfect.

But you just have to recognize that when the body is communicating to you to do something,

That that is an aspect of generosity.

And this means that you're being kind and loving towards yourself.

Now most people think being kind and loving towards themselves equates to spending more money on themselves,

Buying special things,

Gifting themselves with whatever it is.

We know this doesn't work.

We know this doesn't work because psychologists and neuroscientists have researched this many,

Many times,

Different studies around the world and have every time recognized that happiness is selfless.

It's not about gifting yourself.

So yes,

Of course you'll feel nice if you buy,

I don't know,

A new pair of jeans or you buy yourself a special cake or whatever it is that supposedly creates happiness,

But it will be temporary.

Generosity is very spacious because it's not temporary.

Those memories of happiness that come from being generous,

Meaning that you are able to step outside of the self-centered perspective that the limbic brain creates,

Allows for the neocortex to remember.

And those memories,

Those remembrances are very,

Very important when it comes to spiritual development and when it comes to our,

Some people call karma,

But just the space that we create,

The energy space that we create around us.

Generosities is actualized by those memories.

So those memories are eternal because once you bring those memories into a part of your brain that remembers,

Which is consciousness,

Even if you forget because you're busy the next day,

There is a sense of feeling,

There is a sense of wellbeing that creates a foundation that becomes the fundament of your experience.

So generosity then isn't just about a specific thing,

It's about an attitude,

It's about an intention.

So when you recognize that intention in the way that you're being kind and loving towards yourself,

Which means just listening to your body.

Most people,

They're busy shopping and buying whatever it is that they want,

Need,

Desire,

Think will make them happy or told that will make them happy and are not in communication with their body.

It's not a stressful thing to go shopping today at least.

I'm told when you go into a shopping mall today,

It's all busy and there's all sorts of things going on around you.

You can't wait to get home with your goodies of course,

But you can't wait to get out of that space.

Many people tell me this.

I don't know,

Perhaps shopping is an interesting thing for some people and there are places where you just really relax and get in touch with your body and communicate from the depth of your being.

I don't know those places,

But maybe there are a few of those places around in the world,

Greenland or somewhere.

Anyway,

I'm joking a little bit here.

What I'm saying is that the communication with your body is really,

Really a fundament when it comes to generosity and happiness.

And we must never underestimate the link between the physical grounding,

Our emotional grounding and our mental sort of communication that happens,

Not just the neocortex communication that happens,

The conceptual level of thinking,

But also the communication that happens that is more impulsive.

If we are grounded in the physical body and that fundament is relaxed and happy,

It's very difficult for the limbic brain to say,

Oh,

Look,

That tension is creating a sort of fight or flight situation for me.

Those muscles are so tense,

I just want to eat that cake or I just want to escape into that world where hopefully I'll be blissful for a few moments.

That fight or flight mechanism that is created through the limbic brain believes that it knows where happiness exists and of course that belief system is always pointing outside of oneself.

It exists in this or it exists in that.

If I get whatever out there or if I manage to complete whatever out there,

Then I can be happy.

Then I can be generous because I just don't have the energy to be generous right now.

I don't have the time to be happy.

I'm too busy.

Have you ever heard that?

I'm too busy to be happy.

I've got so many other things to do.

I understand,

You know,

Like sometimes I'm speaking to people and they get very irritated with me.

Can you believe?

You know,

Because I'm saying,

Oh,

Just relax and be happy and I haven't got time for that.

How can you,

How dare you tell me to relax and be happy?

I'm too busy for that.

Can't you see how much I've got to do?

You know,

It's easy for you,

But you know,

For us mortal human beings,

You know,

We have to deal with the world.

We have to do things,

You know,

And it's so interesting really because we know from neuroscience that happiness actually helps you to get things done,

Helps you to be more efficient,

Helps you to be focused and aware of where those decisions that you're making that are somehow creating those hormonal imbalances,

The stress and emotional anxiety that's caused by just feeling overwhelmed,

Not grounded in the physical aspect of your body means that your mind just starts to speed up and your emotional resiliency is diminished because your mind is like they're speeding up and that is the ratio of stress and anxiety.

So,

You know,

There is an alignment when your mind sort of gets very busy.

Have you seen those sort of business people who,

You know,

Perhaps on the working in New York or London,

You know,

With the stock market or in a bank or whatever,

And they're always running,

They're always running,

But it's not that they're running,

It's that their mind is running.

So,

You know,

I'm always running,

You know,

I'm always trying to get from one place to another very quickly because I think,

Why walk slowly when you can walk quickly,

But my mind is very slow,

Meaning that I'm relaxed,

I'm looking at things around me,

I'm breathing,

I'm aware of the situations,

I'm aware of my body,

I'm aware of my breath,

But not,

That is not possible if your mind is sort of racing around the place because of the anxiety and emotional stress or whatever that's going on around you and unable to focus on any one thing.

So then there is no efficiency in what you're doing and of course there will be no happiness and no generosity because you'll feel overwhelmed.

So there is a very powerful link that coming back to a space that is happier means,

Doesn't mean spending more money on oneself or trying to get things done quickly so that you have a free moment later on to relax,

You know,

Like people do,

You know,

Busy,

Busy,

Busy or busy,

Busy,

Busy until I retire and then when I retire,

I will sort of relax and be able to be happy because I'll do the things I want to do,

But I'm too busy now to focus on that problem because I have to make money or buy this or do whatever else that people do.

Just as a normal sane sort of way of living,

People do these things.

It's incredible.

Anyway,

I'm not sort of judging the situation.

I just find it incredible because time is so very precious.

So what you do with your time is much more than what you do with your time.

It's the intention that you put in that activity that creates a timeless quality to the experience or that creates a stress anxiety response to the situation because of the situation being so tense and that tension can be released first in the physical body because that's the fundament and then the tension can be released in the emotional aspect of the body.

See,

When you relax your muscles and relax your body,

It's much easier to relax your reactive limbic brain because this,

Of course,

You're not going to let go of all emotions because we are emotional beings,

But you're going to let go of those emotions that create stress and emotional sort of turmoil by coming back to a space that allows for our emotional response to be much more connected to happiness.

This means that whatever we are doing,

Even if we're just busy,

See,

You can be busy and happy.

That's the thing because if your emotional response to the situation comes from a state of relaxation,

Then we know that this creates higher levels of generous behavior.

It means that we sort of,

Instead of wanting to take from the world and feeling that the world is taking too much from us,

We sort of feel that the world is a beautiful place because we're relaxed and we're sort of connected to not the limbic brain that's reacting to the situation,

But to the more receptive part of ourselves and people around us and situation around us somehow just fall into place.

That is a sort of,

That's what I call generous behavior.

We also,

We're more happy because we are naturally happy.

We don't have to buy the cake or go shopping in the mall to sort of find happiness in those material aspects,

Even though that's the way that we've been indoctrinated to think.

Happiness is more,

It's reflected by what is known as TPJ activity.

That is a communication that happens in a part of your brain region.

We know that,

This is just neuroscience,

But we know that there are different brain regions that connect to one another and when we are relaxed and when we are relaxed and happy,

Because happiness is what happens when we relax in this way,

That the brain begins to communicate within itself in a very,

Very,

Very different way,

Very different way.

This activity creates in itself a connectivity,

Not just to the TPG,

Which is a part of the brain that,

It's called the happy,

It's a part of the brain that helps you to remain in this sort of happy space.

Not only do you communicate more to this part of your being,

But actually all of a sudden things around you begin to manifest in a very different way because you're creating a vibration,

You're creating a sort of magnetic resonance around you that is happening in the brain and you're sort of activating a part of your brain that doesn't get activated when you're in sort of stress mode.

That electromagnetic frequency begins to sort of be,

Begins to emit itself around you so your body feels it.

This is why when you relax and your brain connects to this part of the,

This region of the brain and communicates to this region of the brain,

Then your body relaxes even more and you're releasing happy hormones.

You know,

The hormones that endorphins,

You know,

That all of a sudden create happiness in itself.

You think,

Oh,

Gosh,

I do feel happy.

Even though I'm busy running around doing this and doing that,

I'm still happy because I'm not getting caught by the situation.

Now mystics have spoken about this forever.

No,

They,

They,

They have known this detachment.

Be relaxed,

Be detached,

You know,

Be detached from the mind that is spinning and getting caught by whatever stress,

Emotional situation that is happening outside of you or even inside of you.

You can relax because you're not your emotional response.

You're not the limbic brain.

You're not the reptilian brain.

You know,

You're,

You're,

You've evolved,

Hopefully you've evolved beyond those aspects of yourself.

And because we've had quite a few years to do this,

Thousands of years actually to do this.

We've had well even more than a thousand years from the reptilian stage of our existence.

Our evolution has,

It's been a hard,

It's been hard work for everyone,

But now is the time to sort of all of a sudden recognize that,

You know,

We don't need to keep going back in our evolutionary sort of communication to the world and to our evolutionary communication within ourselves.

We don't have to go back to that stage every time.

But we will if we don't understand that there is a decision that needs to be made when there is stress or when you get caught by this sort of mind that is spinning because it's speeding up because of the stress or because of your pressure,

The internal pressure that you create and which then triggers not only the mind to speed up,

But the body then sort of aligns itself to that sort of speedy tension that the mind is creating.

And your mental health is compromised.

This is why,

You know,

If we don't change our evolutionary sort of direction and instead of falling back every time into,

You know,

The space of anxiety and stress and worry and which seems to be the paradigm of the world today,

We will all end up very depressed and really needing to be on medication because,

And this is happening more and more.

It's not a,

I'm not sort of joking here because we know this.

We know that more and more,

The more advanced and the more busy and more stressful and the less connected we are in a society as a culture,

The more we just,

We lose touch with our evolutionary intention,

Which is to bypass the sort of basic needs of survival and to recognize the joy and happiness in being alive,

You know.

So we don't have to be in a sort of stress mode all the time.

That's fight or flight mechanism that creates more stress for everyone,

Not just for yourself,

But for everyone.

And as a culture,

Then we think this is what,

That's what's normal.

Look at the people,

The stockbrokers in New York.

You know,

They're running around.

They can't last for more than 10 years.

I'm told even 10 years is too much for those,

In those types of jobs because there is some,

There is,

There's a lot of stress.

So what I'm saying is that by making a clear decision,

By,

By,

By,

By making that decision,

That clear decision to come back to a part of yourself that recognizes that you have a choice and you have a choice first by relaxing your body,

Then connecting to the positive emotional flow that is happening within your body rather than the reactive,

And then allowing for the serotonin,

Dopamine,

Endorphins,

Oxytocin,

All,

All those different chemicals,

I suppose they're hormonal chemicals to,

To create a space of balance when we know this.

And we,

We,

We have a clear possibility to make that choice,

Which means letting go of certain things.

And that one most important thing is to let go of the idea that the world is creating your misery or some aspect of the world is creating your misery,

Your sadness,

Your stress,

The,

The reason why you can't really let go,

The reason why you can't listen to anyone who says relax and be happy,

The reason why you can't,

You know,

Just be yourself.

Once you let go of those things,

Then it's natural to be generous and to be selfless.

It's impossible to then just come back to being self-centered.

When you're generous,

It means,

That means physically means that you have increased the serotonin,

Dopamine,

And endorphin,

Oxytocin,

All these interesting hormones that psychologists and neuroscientists today believe create,

You know,

Balance because they reduce the cortisol in the body,

The stress hormone cortisol,

But also brings about happiness on some level.

You feel better and it's sort of counterintuitive,

Isn't it?

To sort of give more of yourself when you feel that there isn't anything to give because you're so stressed and tired and the world wants more and more and more,

You know,

Whatever and the world wants more and more and more and you think,

Okay,

I can't give more.

I need to just create this bubble,

Shut out the world because it's asking too much of me and,

You know,

What Tony is speaking about being generous and being loving,

Well,

That's for later.

It has nothing to do with the level of or the quantity of what you're giving.

It has to do with your intention and how you connect and communicate to yourself in this moment.

So once you recognize the secret of communication that is not just easy to put into practice but actually necessary during these times of transformation,

Then all of a sudden you will open up to an energy level within you that is significantly higher than you can ever imagine.

All of a sudden you will feel that your generosity doesn't come from a space of lack but your generosity comes from a space of happiness,

From a space of equilibrium where things actually are so very connected to everything else.

So you're not just giving of yourself,

You're just basically channeling the energy that the universe is abundant in and the energy of the universe is creativity,

Is bliss,

Is light,

Is this lightness of being that you can align yourself and connect to and begin to communicate physically first by relaxing,

Emotionally by recognizing the lightness of being,

Mentally by just listening in a detached way to what is going on in your mind and from wisdom making the decisions,

Recognizing those decisions and then making those decisions that actually help you to be more efficient,

Help you to be a super human being.

A super human being means that you have so much energy that it's just fun to be around you because you are alive.

You know what it's like with children?

It's the same when they're alive and flowing in that sort of positive way.

I was watching this little girl the other day,

Cute,

I think she,

They were twins,

They look very similar,

Similar heights and they were just so cute and they had so much energy,

Like continuous,

Like the adults around them,

I was watching their parents also,

The adults around them like tired out very quickly and that aliveness,

You could see as they sort of scrunched into their comfortable chair,

Their posture sort of wasn't really useful for the happy breathing or alive breathing that happens when your body is sort of aligned in a perfect way.

But the children were just sitting up and their backs were straight and they were doing this and doing that and busy with whatever and creative and exploring and happy and excited and the parents were,

Yeah,

They were happy but I could see the heaviness in their experience,

You know,

And it is difficult of course being a parent or being anyone and the other day I was speaking to someone who had to care for their old mum and you know,

It's a lot of work but what changes everything is your attitude and so if you have a generous attitude and a happy attitude and that is the natural being of all,

That's your fundamental birthright,

That's the natural being that you are,

When you connect to this and you recognise this by doing these practices that I've been sharing with you,

Then all of a sudden your body releases dopamine,

Releases endorphins and all of a sudden without,

You have no control over it,

You're just happy,

You're a happy person.

You say,

Oh,

What's making you so happy today?

What's the secret?

You can tell them now.

Be generous,

Be happy and if that's difficult,

Relax,

Breathe in,

Let go,

Let go of your worries,

Let go of that mind that is sort of chasing itself like a monkey chasing its own tail,

Let go and come back to the space that you know is important,

This present moment.

Come back here to your heart,

Let go.

So as you breathe in today,

Breathe out and whatever in your meditation or in your practice or at work or when you go shopping,

Whenever you recognise that your body is communicating to you a level of stress or a level of discomfort or constriction,

Remember,

Relax,

Breathe in,

Let go and be connected to the natural state of generosity and happiness.

If that's difficult in the moment,

Remember,

You can imagine something very beautiful that creates or evokes this sort of response within you.

So you can imagine yourself on a beach relaxing just for a moment.

You can close your eyes and just imagine something beautiful around you that helps your physical body and your emotional body to come back into that state of equilibrium whereby decisions can be made,

Decisions that create coherence,

Decisions that create sense of focus,

Sense of yes,

Life is a miracle.

Thank you.

I enjoy Tony Samara’s teachings and meditations. They give a fresh perspective, and an understanding of how the brain responds to choices we make. For one, calming the mind and allowing happiness is somehow less complicated than I might have imagined. Thank you. 🙏🏽
