So we'll begin shortly with our guided awareness relaxation work.
And I would just like to throw in that one of the ways that I like to work with sound and music,
And I do this with some of the younger people I teach,
Is to have a little bit of this place of the balance between hearing.
.
.
It's almost like hearing your own listening or your own silence.
Sometimes I found that there's a lot of parallel between cultivating a silence in one's presence and the simple ability to just hear.
And a balance between hearing your inner silence and then hearing what's outside of you.
It's not an accident.
The soundscapes are kind of meant to be a place where you find this balance instead of other things which might demand all of your attention.
Anyways,
That's one of the reasons I don't do soundscapes while I'm doing the awareness work.
So,
Hopefully by now people have shown up and are comfortable.
And if you've never done this before,
You just make yourself comfortable sitting or lying down.
And I would just invite you in to the suggestion that there's an energy in our awareness itself.
And just to allow an appreciation for that awareness as it functions.
And one might feel a tendency to be drawn into narratives big and small.
And part of what we're trying to do here is to have our own little moment.
And perhaps to find that balance and give ourselves a place to position ourselves in life from,
Which is a little bit more from how we would choose to do it.
But we just notice these patterns,
These cycles,
These habits of our awareness,
While we're borrowing some of it just to give to our body some of these things that we can be aware of.
For instance,
Our face,
And just to relax the eyes and the face.
And just notice whatever's there,
Warm or cold,
Dry or moist.
And where there might be something held just to soften.
And allowing that relaxation really to move across the whole of the face,
The forehead,
The eyes and cheeks and nose,
And the lips and the jaw,
Even the tongue.
And with the jaw to relax the ears.
And again here to notice the sound of the space that one is in.
Now moving our part of our awareness perhaps down to the soles of the feet.
And just to allow a little bit of a sustained being there and relaxing.
And perhaps letting that move up through the feet into the ankles.
Keeping that,
Bringing back the face,
The head,
The ears,
To relax both places.
And between this,
The hands,
To come into the hands.
To notice however it is for you to have the life you have and the hand that you have and be simply present and relaxed and perhaps continuing up to the wrists and forearms to relax.
And keeping that to bring in the face and the feet.
Perhaps allowing a little bit more space for all that's in between.
Always this motion of the breath.
This natural taking in of the air.
Perhaps some energy arrives with each breath and some is given back.
And lastly coming back to that place where you hear.
Hearing.
Listening for both what's outside and what's within.
The sound of air.
