Welcome to your meditation for softening as a superpower.
As we move about our daily lives,
We are presented with challenges that if not aware can sweep us up.
We get attached in being right,
Being perfect,
Or being busy.
The antithesis of grasping is softening.
Slowly leaning forward into life is like trying to catch a swinging rope that is far out of reach.
What would happen if you instead sat back and let the rope come to you?
In the energy of softening,
There is a sweetness that allows divine energy to fill the space and do its magic.
It is in this remembrance that we realize that we don't have to nor should we want to control everything.
With a softer approach,
You can actually remain more grounded in who you are.
The need to get it all done or when the fight starts to fade away and a more profound experience is created.
Settle your body in a position that feels appropriate today,
Even lying down as an option.
We'll begin with practicing softening in the body.
As you soften each part,
Notice areas of holding that you didn't know you were holding.
Decide not to judge yourself for it.
We'll begin by softening the eyes.
Feel them settle back.
Notice how they broaden like a smile.
Softening the eyes alerts the nervous system that you are safe.
Can you soften even 5% more?
Begin to soften your jaw.
Allow the teeth to separate and feel the bottom half release.
Soften the inside of the mouth and allow the tip of the tongue to rest right behind the top teeth.
As the jaw and mouth relax,
Feel the back of your neck lengthen.
Feel the base of your skull soften.
Soften feel your ears relax.
Notice how your shoulders might want to follow.
Feel the whole length of your arms give way.
Soften the chest and the upper back so as to offer neutrality to this powerful energetic space.
Can you feel the center point receive and disperse the breath?
Let's stay here for a moment.
Receive.
Disperse.
Receive.
Disperse.
Soften the belly and the low back.
Notice how they move together as you inhale and exhale.
Awareness if this is a place of holding for you.
But with the intention to soften,
The breath moves more easily with each round.
Settle and soften your seat.
Feel the pelvis broaden and ground.
And from here,
The legs are naturally invited to lengthen and take a break.
Soften the bottoms of your feet.
Again,
A subtle but sweet gesture.
Can you have awareness of your whole body in this state?
The softer,
Sweeter space.
Feel into that.
Soften any parts that decided to tense up again with absolute compassion.
This is a practice.
With your body more relaxed,
Let's practice softening your approach.
Softening is,
At the very least,
A more loving approach towards yourself.
Without getting caught up,
Imagine yourself softening in the midst of a challenge.
Can you see yourself gaining power as you choose softness over fire?
While there are times where fire is necessary,
Softening your approach can be equally as powerful.
As you soften your approach,
You actually hold the superpower of diffusing a situation.
You give the gift of room to breathe.
You show strength by leaning back.
Soften your approach.
Once again,
Come back to the body.
Soften the parts that are used to tensing.
As we come back together,
Can you soften even 5% more?
Slowly begin to deepen your breath.
If you wish,
Exhaling the breath out the mouth.
Take a couple more rounds like this at your own pace.
When you reach your edge,
Soften.
Soften until you slip through the constraints and can create a new rhythm,
A new root,
A new release.
Water is soft yet powerful.
Reach your edge and soften.
Victoria Erickson Take this superpower of softening into your daily life and notice how it changes you.
Notice the quiet yet powerful force within you.
