In the last episode, we looked at who we are not. Now we begin to look at who we are as we take a step by step approach in our awakening into our selves. Our awakening is into our being which is always here and is experienced as happiness, peace, bliss and love.

Hello,

This is William Cooper.

Welcome to Awakening Together.

I hope you're doing well.

Today let's look at who you are.

Last time we looked at who you're not.

Who you are is the very most important question there is.

It's more of an experience than a question really.

There's two parts of what you experience.

The first part is really truly who you are.

That is,

What's left when you let go of all your problems,

All of your stresses,

All of your tensions?

What remains is obviously you.

Who is that?

Better question is,

What do you experience yourself like?

Right?

How do you experience yourself?

If you let go of all of your problems,

All of your troubles,

All of your stresses and tensions,

What you would experience,

What's always there is deep quiet,

Deep peace,

A deep happiness.

Isn't it true that when you let go of all of your troubles you just feel happy?

When there's nothing bothering you,

You feel happy,

Loving?

Well,

That's who you are.

Happy,

Loving,

Very peaceful,

Very calm,

Very content.

These are qualities of your being.

There's nothing you have to do to enable these qualities.

They're already there,

Right?

Perhaps you can feel them now because the interesting thing is there's really two things that you're feeling at any given time.

One,

It's the light or quality of who you are.

And two,

It's all that you're not.

Any stresses and tensions and troubles and problems,

You feel those,

Of course.

And you also feel yourself.

You feel both yourself and the problems you've accepted or created.

Nobody's keeping those stresses or intentions and problems inside of you,

Except you,

Of course.

You either manufacture through thoughts and emotions these problems and keep them,

Not that they're not based on true things,

I'm not saying they're not,

But your reaction to these events are what you hold on to and those are what are creating the problems for you.

So you feel those.

Or somebody else's problem,

You've sort of accepted their problem,

Taken it on.

Maybe they've just by osmosis been around you and you've got a similar mindset as your friend has now.

You've taken it on.

But you've done that.

You've taken on the problems of your culture,

Of the politics around you,

Of the people around you.

That's very different from simply resting in yourself and from that calm,

Peaceful place acting rather than reacting to what's going on around you.

Because when you take on the problems of others,

Typically what we do is react.

We're trapped.

We're cornered.

And that's our life,

Trapped and cornered,

Emotionally,

Mentally.

But if you let all that go,

What would be left?

What would be left is who you are.

The qualities of your being,

Peace,

Love,

Happiness,

Well-being,

All shine through easily.

When you're very clear,

What you experience is yourself as a sort of like a rainbow.

You know,

There's lots of different realities or levels and so when people talk about being and who they are,

It's often a little bit confusing because depending on where they're talking from or which reality they're referring to,

They'll describe themselves this way or that way.

So let me just paint the entire rainbow,

Or at least the gesture of the rainbow,

So you get an idea of what I'm talking about.

On one end of the rainbow is deep silence.

It's even beyond this creation,

Beyond this world,

And we'll talk about that later some other time.

When it enters creation,

You experience yourself as light and sound,

Just a basic low rumble.

That's where they got the sound of Aum from.

You can hear it if you're clear enough.

You can hear it all the time.

This is a very powerful energy,

This light and sound.

It's very powerful,

So it comes with this energy of bliss and well-being.

Vibrant.

It's like an atomic bomb.

It's not a mental thought.

This is an experience.

That's who you are.

Now this being,

You will experience it.

It congeals and condenses down into atoms and molecules,

And this bliss and love and well-being and peace turns into matter,

Into atoms and molecules,

Which in turn turn into dogs and cats and razor blades and every possible thing.

It's kind of funny,

But things that we've created to hurt each other,

Like knives,

Are really created out of love.

That's all matter is created out of love.

It's congealed love.

It's funny,

Isn't it?

Anyway,

One of the things that we create out of this love,

Happiness,

Bliss energy that's congealed into matter is we create thoughts,

We create emotions.

Emotions are things that you create.

The qualities of being are things that are always there.

The love,

Peace,

Well-being,

Calmness,

Those are quality of being.

The less you do,

The more you feel them.

There's nothing you have to do to create them.

They're already there.

What you do have to create is hurt,

Anger,

Fear,

Things that we call emotions.

You have to create those.

So this love energy,

We can use it to create things like thoughts and emotions and all sorts of things.

If we let go totally,

Everything turns into oneness.

We become one with everything around us.

We see that that is the truth.

And perhaps this oneness is why in India they say the external reflects the internal.

If we're all agitated on the inside,

We create an agitated outside.

So really our surroundings sort of reflect our creation on the inside.

If you want to know what you've created on the inside,

Just look on the outside.

If there's all sorts of pandemonium,

Well you can get a hint that there's probably pandemonium inside of you.

Although I have to say that there is cultural pandemonium that may not have to do with you and other kinds,

And we'll get to that later,

But just as a general rule.

So who are you?

You are this being,

This very very deep being with beautiful qualities,

Natural qualities,

Love,

Peace,

Well-being.

And the idea is that you flow from this deep innate love,

Peace,

And well-being into your life,

And you have the tools to create a beautiful life from there when you're clear.

When you're not clear,

Rather than responding and flowing,

You are reacting and creating trouble inside of you and around you.

Because when you're cut off from yourself,

You experience separation anxiety,

You experience a feeling of hurt and abandonment,

And also because of all this you feel angry and unfulfilled.

So separation creates a core of hurt,

Fear,

And anger from which you react and deal with the world,

And that's where most of us are in this culture.

We're in a world of hurt,

Fear,

And anger because we live in our head,

We live in our thoughts,

We live in our emotions.

So how do we separate all this out?

Because generally what we're feeling is a blend of who we are,

Our being,

Because it's always there,

But often we're so distracted by our thoughts that this blend is both who we are and all the pain of who we aren't,

But what we have created or accepted.

So we feel a blend of all these things,

And when we become lost in our thoughts or the world's actions and thoughts,

We become totally distracted and lose track of who we are.

That's where most of us are,

Unfortunately.

It's like getting lost in a TV show.

We miss our own reality.

So how do we separate all this out?

And once we separate it out,

How do we actually,

When we can see clearly who we are and who we aren't,

How do we let go of all the stuff that we aren't?

How do we let it get out of our system?

How do we do that?

Well,

There are lots of ways that we've tried,

And they seem to be endorsed by our culture,

But they don't work,

Do they?

Because we've tried them,

And they don't work,

Right?

So we're gonna look very closely on what we've tried and what doesn't work and what we've tried,

Or I guess I should say what we haven't tried and what does work.

One of these most powerful methods is a certain kind of meditation.

We'll talk about that.

And there's a certain kind of therapy,

And we'll talk about that,

Which is basically the underlying principle for effective meditation and so many other ways of letting go.

These things are all things you can do on your own.

They're very clear,

Very simple,

Very easy.

So stay tuned.

We'll get to it,

But we're going step by step.

Okay,

I look forward to talking to you the next time.

Take care.

Bye.
