In this session, you will be introduced to the 'Find Your Feelings' game, also known as 'Internal Hide And Seek', where you will be encouraged to scan your body for any hidden thoughts, emotions, moods, memories, or feelings. This game will teach you how to practice calm breathing and body scanning and help foster mindful awareness of your ever-changing inner world. This is a useful game to play following a stressful day or after a significant life event. This track is taken from my course, ‘Calm Kids: Fun Meditation And Relaxation Games’, available now via my profile.

Hello,

And welcome to Calm Kids.

So today we're going to be playing a game called Find My Feelings,

But you might know it by another name,

Hide and Seek.

Now this sort of hide and seek is a little bit different.

It's hide and seek,

But not with anyone else.

It's hide and seek with your feelings,

With your emotions.

Sometimes we get a little bit overwhelmed,

A little bit cranky,

Maybe we yell,

Maybe we get angry,

Because we're not quite feeling our feelings,

Because we don't really know how we're feeling.

Or maybe we're not quite sure of what's going on in our bodies,

And we maybe do a little accident.

We maybe bump into things,

Or maybe we accidentally wee ourselves.

That happens sometimes.

Or sometimes we find ourselves super thirsty,

Or super hungry all of a sudden,

And we just have to have a drink,

Or some food,

Or something like that.

All of these things can be helped if we learn how to play Find My Feelings.

Or,

Internal hide and seek.

So let's give it a shot right now.

We're going to take a seat,

Or lay down,

And get ourselves just a little bit comfortable.

You can stretch your body out,

If you like,

And you can take a deep,

Slow breath in through your nose,

And out through your mouth,

And just close your eyes.

And I want you to see if you can find your feelings.

We're going to go down our body,

And I just want you to say out loud how your body is feeling.

Okay.

I want you to say it out loud.

Tell me,

How is your head feeling?

Feel your jaw.

Feel your mouth.

Does it need to relax?

Is it super squeezed?

Or does it need a little bit of relaxation?

Is there some tension there?

What about in your neck?

How does your neck feel right now?

Tell me.

Can you feel any emotions?

Does it feel like something needs to be said?

Say it.

There are no wrong answers here.

Okay.

Whatever you're feeling is fine.

Go down to your shoulders.

What's in your shoulders?

What's in your arms and your hands?

Are they hot?

Are they cold?

How are your arms and your shoulders and your hands feeling right now?

Are any parts of them sore?

You tell me.

Now move into your chest and to your belly.

And while we're here,

Let's do a big slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.

But we want to be feeling our belly rise up and fall down with each breath.

So as you do a big in-breath,

Your belly should go first and then your chest.

And then when you breathe out,

Your chest is going to empty first and then your belly.

Let's do a few slow,

Calm breaths and just tell me,

How's your chest and belly feeling?

There's a lot of feelings to be found in your chest and the belly.

So let's really look very carefully and say how we're feeling.

Oftentimes,

We may be feeling.

.

.

When we're feeling scared,

We might feel it in our belly.

Or maybe when we're feeling anxious,

You might feel like there's little butterflies flying in there.

Or maybe it feels like it's squeezing.

It's very good to be able to find our feelings and a lot of them sit in our belly and our chest.

So right now,

Call out and tell me,

Are there any feelings in your belly or in your chest?

There are no wrong answers here.

Whatever you're feeling is fine and perfect and normal and acceptable.

Find them and say them out loud.

All right,

Let's focus now on our backs.

Our upper back,

Our lower back and our bums.

What can you feel in those areas?

Once again,

There are no wrong answers here.

Do you feel any soreness?

Any tension?

Is there any emotions or other things there?

Maybe you're feeling like you need to go to the toilet.

Doesn't matter.

All of these things are good.

You tell me what you're feeling in your body right now.

Let's focus on our legs and our feet.

What are your legs and feet feeling right now?

Can you feel the clothes on your legs and your feet?

Are there any sore bits?

Are there any emotions in there?

You tell me.

You call out and tell me right now.

Tell me what's going on in those parts of your bodies.

What can you feel?

Great job.

Okay,

Final one now.

One more big slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.

And we're just going to sit and look over our whole body all at once to see if there's any feelings that we haven't found.

Any physical feelings like temperature,

Pain,

Or good feelings?

And any feelings of emotions?

Just take a moment and look over your whole body and tell me what you can feel.

Well done.

So this game,

This Find My Feelings,

This internal hide and seek,

You can use this anytime you like.

That you think you need to feel your body to check in.

I like to do this one before bed as well because it helps me to calm down,

Check into my body,

And just see how I'm feeling.

It teaches us to know our internal states and just to feel a little bit better about ourselves.

Because remember,

There are no wrong feelings.

Whatever you're feeling is what you're feeling.

And it's okay to feel it and okay to express it.

So please,

In the classroom,

I want you to let me know,

How did you find this game?

Find My Feelings.

Was it super fun?

Was it meh?

Was it boring?

You tell me.

And remember,

It doesn't matter what you felt.

And if you have any questions about the Find My Feeling game,

Or about meditation or relaxation in general,

Ask it there and I'll help you out with a voice response.

Anyway,

Have a great day and I look forward to seeing you next time.

Catch ya.
