Hello and welcome to Good Morning Met.
My name is Samantha Archibald of Xayoga and today's meditation is about reminding ourselves of the essence of who we are.
So let's get started.
Find yourself in a comfortable seat,
Allowing yourself to settle in.
And by doing so,
You automatically will go inwards.
We go to the space where we feel safe,
Calm,
Still.
And from that space,
We watch what's happening outside of us.
We are no longer engaging with everything around us,
But instead we just are the observer,
The watcher from within.
In that observation,
We detach ourselves from the body and see the body as something other than ourselves.
Because even if the body hurts or is fatigued,
It doesn't affect the being within us.
We are still that same consciousness that is observing the pain,
That is observing that energy that the body is projecting.
It doesn't mean that your body doesn't feel pain,
Doesn't hurt,
Doesn't have fear.
But can you be the observer,
The watcher of how you react,
How you are?
And by doing so,
We realize that we are not this body,
But it is a vehicle that expresses how and who we want to be.
Of course,
We need to nourish it and care for it as long as we exist and breathe on this earth,
Because this body is our vehicle.
So it is essential that we pay attention to how we treat this body.
But again,
Watching from within,
We realize that we don't have to engage in the body at every moment.
Instead,
We are the observer of this moment.
The same goes for the mind.
Thoughts come and thoughts go.
Past experiences become memories.
And we have hopes and dreams for the future.
But those are not permanent.
They are always fluctuating.
You cannot hold on to a memory,
Although we certainly try,
But it's no longer in existence.
And no matter how much we plan for the future,
We don't know what's to come.
So we take our time and we create and we learn and we have these experiences,
New ideas and adventures.
But take a moment to realize something remains the same through all these experiences,
These memories,
These ideas,
These dreams,
These adventures.
Something remains the same within you.
Regardless of how much experiences we have,
How much knowledge we obtain,
How busy or slow our mind moves through life.
Something remains watching.
That something is within you.
There's this consistent voice that doesn't change,
No matter how many experiences or time that pass,
No matter how old,
No matter if your career,
Your status change,
That voice remains the same.
So we're not even our mind.
If we're not our mind and we're not even our bodies,
What are we?
We must be something more significant than our exterior.
Everyone in this world takes on a form that shifts,
Moves and changes.
Yet its essence remains the same.
So too we move,
Shift and change,
Yet our essence remains the same.
But somehow,
Unlike the rest of nature,
We are wrapped up in the thought of our body,
In the thought of our mind,
And we lose sight of who we are,
The essence of who we are.
But when we take the time to step back and go inward,
We connect,
We connect to our source.
Immediately,
We feel calm.
We feel stillness,
Peace and joy.
That was always,
Always there with us.
We are a source of the universe.
We always have been and that will never change.
And when we connect to that source,
That energy force that is already within us,
We become that essence,
That stillness,
That joy.
So we have to let go of the ideas that we are this body and that we are these thoughts,
This mind.
And allow ourselves to become in tune to the essence of who we are.
So take some time,
Take some time this morning or maybe throughout the day to be quiet,
To be still,
To observe and to connect to what is already within you.
Take a moment to observe what's happening outside of you.
Separating yourself from the idea that you are what is happening outside of you.
Know that these changes and shifts that happen in the body and the mind are not who you are.
It's just a part of how you live your life,
How you live in this world.
So let's just take a few more minutes here to observe as you breathe in and you breathe out.
And take a moment with calm your breath out this morning.
