So welcome everyone.
Thank you for joining me.
So in today's session,
I invite you to experience the flowing river of your breath.
The constant,
Life-giving current that moves through your body.
So the breath is one of the most powerful yet overlooked features.
Without any conscious effort on your part,
It continues its rhythm,
Bringing fresh energy in and releasing what no longer serves us,
Creating a natural flow that supports every aspect of our being.
Now in ancient wisdom traditions around the world,
The breath is understood as much more than just air entering and leaving the lungs.
So the breath is often seen as a visible expression of life force itself.
It's called prana in the yogic tradition,
Qi in Chinese medicine.
There are countless other similar concepts across many cultures.
This life energy flows through invisible pathways in our body,
Nourishing our tissues,
Nourishing our spirit,
And connecting all parts of ourselves into a harmonious whole.
Now when the flow becomes restricted or blocked,
Either through tension,
Stress,
Or disconnection from our bodies,
We often experience a sense of stagnation,
Depletion,
Or imbalance.
Simply by bringing gentle awareness to our breath,
We can naturally restore this vital flow.
In my experience,
I witness how the simple practice of just following the breath like a river through the body can create deep,
Profound changes.
Areas of tension begin to soften,
Energy begins to move more freely,
And there's often a spontaneous sense of coming back into alignment with the natural wisdom of the body.
Today's meditation offers a gentle journey along this river of breath,
Not forcing,
Not controlling,
Simply following its natural course and allowing it to reveal where the flow is restricted and where it moves freely.
So let's begin this journey of following our breath and remembering this life force that lives within all of us.
So wherever you are right now,
Find a comfortable position,
Either sitting up or lying down.
Take a moment now to make any adjustments that you may need to make,
Honoring what feels right for your body now.
As you feel settled,
When you feel settled,
Gently close your eyes if that's comfortable,
And for the first few moments,
Simply notice your breath as it is,
Without trying to control it or change it.
Simply notice your breath as it is right now.
Notice the natural rhythm,
The depth or the shallowness,
And also the quality of the flow.
There's no right or wrong way for you to breathe.
Simply meet it exactly as it is in this moment.
Now,
Bring your awareness to where you most naturally feel your breath beginning.
For some people,
This might be the nostrils,
Feeling the air entering and leaving the body,
And for others it might be the rising and falling of your chest or your belly.
Wherever you most naturally feel your breath,
Just allow your attention to rest there gently.
This is the source of your river,
The place where you can most easily connect with the flow of your breath.
Now,
As you continue breathing naturally,
Imagine this breath is like a river of light or energy entering your body,
Bringing freshness,
Nourishment and life force with each inhale.
Freshness,
Nourishment and life force with each inhale,
And as you exhale,
Imagine releasing whatever your body no longer needs.
Tension,
Stagnant energy or anything that restricts your natural flow.
So let's begin now to follow this river of breath as it flows through your body.
With your next inhale,
Feel or imagine the breath flowing in through the nose or the mouth,
Moving down your throat and into your chest.
Feel how your chest gently expands to receive this breath,
And as you exhale,
Feel the gentle release as the chest softens.
Continue breathing naturally and now follow the river of the breath flowing down into your upper belly,
Just below the ribs.
Upper belly,
Just below the ribs.
Feel or imagine this area expanding with each inhale,
Creating a space for the breath to flow and feel it softening and releasing with each exhale.
With your next few breaths,
Follow this river now flowing even deeper all the way down to your lower belly,
All the way down to your lower belly.
Feel your entire torso now from your throat to your belly,
Receiving and releasing the breath like a river flowing through an open valley,
Like a river flowing through an open valley,
Like a river flowing through an open valley.
This river is flowing now from your throat all the way down to your belly,
The river of your breath.
Now,
Let's allow this river of breath to widen a little bit,
Flowing not just down the center of your body but also expanding outwards.
So as I inhale now,
Imagine or feel your breath flowing out into your shoulders and your chest.
Shoulders and your chest.
And you can now feel the openness across your upper body.
As you exhale,
Feel a gentle softening across this area now.
With the next few breaths,
Imagine this river flowing even wider,
Reaching all the way out now also to your arms and your hands.
The river is flowing from my throat down to my belly.
The river then widens to include my shoulders,
My chest,
And now the river is also flowing into my arms and my hands.
Now perhaps you feel subtle sensations here,
Tingling,
Warmth,
Or pulsing.
The river of breath now reaches your fingertips.
Now let's bring this awareness to your back,
The vast area that we often cannot see but carries so much for us.
As you breathe now,
Imagine the river of breath flowing into your upper back,
Your middle back,
And your lower back.
Feel how the back body can participate in the breath,
Softening and expanding as I welcome this river into my back,
Softening and expanding as I welcome the river into my back.
Now you may be feeling tingling,
Sensations,
Warmth,
Cold,
Heat,
Anything that is coming up for you.
Allow,
Listen,
And let the river do what it's doing.
Now let's allow this river to deepen a little bit,
Flowing it down to the lower parts of your body.
With your next few breaths,
Imagine or feel the breath flowing down into your hips and your pelvis,
That bowl-like structure that holds your center,
Your hips,
And your pelvis.
Perhaps you notice how this area can expand and release with every breath now,
Even if it's subtle.
From the pelvis and the hips,
Continue flowing this river of breath as it now flows down through your legs,
Through your thighs,
Your knees,
Your calves,
And all the way down to your feet and your toes.
You might notice subtle pulsing or tingling as the river of breath now reaches all the way to the furthest parts of your body.
Now let's expand your awareness to feel the entire river of breath moving through your whole body,
From the crown of your head to the soles of your feet,
From the center of your body out to the surface of your skin,
From the front of your body to the back of your body.
Your entire being is now in this flowing river of breath.
Now as you continue breathing naturally,
Notice if there are any areas where the river seems to flow more freely and easily,
And also if there are places where the flow feels restricted or subtle.
There is no need to judge or try to change anything.
Simply bringing your awareness to these areas is enough.
Now let's listen more deeply to what this river of breath might reveal to you.
Are there places in your body that seems to welcome the breath,
Expanding easily to receive it?
These might be areas of natural flow and openness.
Are there places that feel less involved in the breathing process?
These perhaps might be the areas where your energy flow is restricted.
Simply notice these patterns without judgment.
Now,
If you discover an area that feels less connected to the river of breath,
Gently invite your breath to flow there,
Not forcing,
Not controlling,
Simply bringing kind attention to this area and seeing if the breath begins to move here freely.
Now as you continue to sit in the river of your breath,
Notice,
Know and see.
Your breath knows exactly where to go in your body.
It knows exactly what needs nourishment,
Softening or release.
It carries a wisdom within it that is your life force.
By simply following the flow of this river,
The flow of your breath,
You align with this intelligence.
For the next few moments,
Imagine now releasing any control of your breath,
Of this river.
Let it be completely natural and spontaneous.
Trust its intelligence to flow exactly as needed.
Feel what it's like to be simply being rather than to be the one who has to breathe.
This is the river of life flowing through you,
Ancient,
Wise and perfectly attuned to your needs.
Now as we begin to draw this practice to a close,
Just know that the river of breath continues flowing whether you're focused on it or not.
Now begin to expand your awareness beyond just the breath to include any sounds around you,
The sensations of contact beneath the surface and slowly coming back to the space around you.
When you feel ready now,
You can slowly gently open your eyes and just bringing this awareness with you,
This quality of flowing awareness with you as you come back.
Now the practice that you've experienced today is available to you any moment,
Any situation.
In my years of guiding people through holistic practices,
I've observed when we regularly take time to follow this river of breath,
We also begin to notice where we might be unconsciously restricting the flow in our daily lives.
Tension in certain areas,
Shallow breathing when you're stressed or simply forgetting this vital connection to life that we all have.
Now this awareness itself becomes healing,
Inviting us back to a more natural state of flow and balance.
The body's wisdom begins to guide us towards what needs attention,
What needs release and what is ready to open and expand.
Now remember your breath is always with you.
It is a constant companion and a healing presence that you carry.
Thank you for joining me in this exploration of your river of breath and I wish,
Hope and pray that you continue to flow with the wisdom of your own life force.
So thank you again for joining me and Namaste.
