Welcome to Yoga Nidra.

I'm Ashley and I'll be taking you on a journey today.

A relaxing hypnotic rotation of consciousness throughout the physical body designed to quiet your mind and help to reset your nervous system into a state of deep relaxation.

Just take a few moments now to settle into your safe and secure and warm and cozy Yoga Nidra cocoon.

It's worth making the extra effort to get yourself as comfortable as possible.

And once you get to a place of deep comfort,

See if you can make even the tiniest adjustments to make yourself just that little bit more comfortable.

Good,

That's right.

As you continue settling in,

Just listen to the sound of my voice.

As you continue to relax deeply,

My voice will go with you and every other sound you hear will just serve to relax you further.

This is a truly experience you're having right now.

Yoga Nidra helps to facilitate the Theta Brainwave state,

Which is a magical state to be in,

Combining deep focus with deep rest.

This journey will relax your mind,

Body and soul.

And the Theta Brainwave state allows for the magic of neuroplasticity within your brain,

Creating new positive neural pathways.

Meaning the intention you set for Yoga Nidra will help to embed just the right suggestions within your subconscious brain to bring you closer to whatever intention you are working on and bringing you closer to your inner wisdom.

That's right,

Just relax and let the sounds wash over you.

As you come into stillness,

Ensure that you allow your body to remain still as I rotate your awareness to different parts of the body.

And as you have now settled into stillness,

Can you bring to mind your Sankalpa,

Your intention for today.

Ensuring that your intention is short,

Positive and in the present tense.

If you don't have a particular Sankalpa that you're working on,

You might choose to use I am safe,

I am calm and I rest my body deeply or I rest my body and mind deeply to connect with my deeper inner wisdom.

Mentally repeating your Sankalpa three times now,

Bringing your awareness now to the sensations inside your mouth,

The taste buds on your tongue,

The tip of the tongue,

The root of your tongue,

Feeling the teeth and the gums,

Inside the right cheek,

Inside the left cheek,

The roof of your mouth,

The upper lip,

The lower lip,

The space in between the lips,

The tip of the nose,

The flow of air inside both nostrils,

The nasal flares,

The bridge of the nose,

The space between the eyebrows,

The right eyebrow,

The right eye and eyelid,

And all of the little intricate muscles behind the eye becoming very deeply relaxed,

The left eyebrow,

The left eye and eyelid,

And all of the little tiny muscles behind the eye becoming deeply loose and relaxed,

The center of the forehead,

The scalp,

The hair on your scalp,

The right ear,

Listening,

Receiving sounds,

The inner ear,

And all of the muscles surrounding the right ear softening into a deep relaxation,

The left ear,

Listening,

Receiving sounds,

The inner ear,

And all of the intricate muscles surrounding the left ear becoming soft and loose and deeply relaxed,

The muscles at the base of your skull,

Back to the front of the head,

Bringing awareness to your chin,

The base of the throat,

Heart center,

Right collarbone,

Right shoulder joint,

Upper arm,

Elbow,

Lower arm,

Wrist,

Palm of the hand,

Back of the hand,

The right thumb,

First finger,

Second finger,

Third finger,

And little finger,

The tips of all five fingers,

The entire hand,

The whole right arm,

Back to the heart center,

The left collarbone,

Left shoulder joint,

Upper arm,

Elbow,

Lower arm,

Wrist,

Palm of the hand,

Back of the hand,

The left thumb,

First finger,

Second finger,

Third finger,

And little finger,

The tips of all five fingers,

The entire hand,

The whole left arm,

Back to the heart center,

The diaphragm,

The lower belly,

The pelvic bowl,

The right hip joint,

Thigh,

Knee,

Lower leg,

Ankle,

Heel of the foot,

Sole of the foot,

Top of the foot,

Big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe,

And little toe,

All five toes together,

Feeling all five toes,

The entire foot,

The entire right leg,

Feeling the entire right leg,

The left hip joint,

Knee,

Lower leg,

Ankle,

Heel of the foot,

Sole of the foot,

Top of the foot,

Big toe,

Big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe,

And little toe,

All five toes together,

Feeling all five toes,

The entire left foot,

The entire left leg,

Feeling the entire left leg,

The left side of the torso and the left arm,

Feeling the whole left side of the body,

The whole left side of the body,

Awareness now to the entire right leg,

Feeling the whole right leg,

The right side of the torso and right arm,

The whole right side of the body,

Feeling the whole right side of the body,

Awareness now to the entire physical body,

Feeling both sides,

The whole body,

Awareness now to the crown of the head,

Imagining now the right hemisphere of the brain as a muscle,

Beginning to deeply relax and soften,

The left hemisphere of the brain,

Relaxing and softening,

The entire brain,

Relax,

Back of the head,

Base of the skull,

Back of the neck,

The right shoulder blade,

Left shoulder blade,

The entire length of the spine,

Right buttock,

Left buttock,

The backs of the thighs,

The backs of the lower legs,

Resting deeply on the ground,

Bringing awareness now to your breath,

The gentle rise and fall that happens all by itself,

And you can notice my words,

And notice,

Noticing my words,

And notice,

Noticing your body can relax,

Good,

That's right,

That's right,

As you focus your attention on your breathing now,

Just imagine,

Only imagine now,

Picturing in your mind's eye as you inhale,

Drawing in air through the crown of the head,

And as you do that,

Picturing again in your mind's eye as you exhale,

Breathing out through your heart center,

Just imagine,

Only imagine now,

Breathing in nice and slow in through the top of your head,

And as you relax and exhale,

Imagine your breath leaving your body out through your heart space,

At your own pace and speed,

Continuing with your breath,

And if the mind becomes distracted,

Just bring it back to your breath,

Breathing in through the crown of the head,

And breathing out through your heart space,

That's right,

Breathing in and out,

Just like waves coming in and out of the sea,

They can come in and they can go out,

And each wave,

Just like each breath,

Can follow the one after it,

Without you having to consciously pay any attention to it,

But all the while,

It takes you deeper and deeper and deeper into your experience,

Your understanding,

Your awareness can just detach and slow down,

Good,

That's right,

Now,

Just imagine,

Only imagine now,

In this beautiful feeling of deep relaxation that you've cultivated,

I'd like you to picture in your mind's eye a vision,

It's a vision of you,

Fully embodying your Sankalpa,

Your intention,

Bringing back to mind your Sankalpa,

And as you mentally whisper this intention again,

Three times,

I want you to also visualize yourself already having fully achieved this intention,

What might this look like?

Imagine how you would look if you were to have completely accomplished this intention,

And just rest back as you enjoy this powerful visualization of yourself achieving everything you know you want right now,

Everything you know you can right now,

And now,

And now,

You can begin to notice the outline of your physical body,

And notice now,

Where the physical body ends,

And the space around you begins,

You can start to make some very small movements in your fingers and toes,

Perhaps rocking your head from side to side,

And feeling a gentle smile begin to culminate,

As you can already feel the benefits you've been cultivating through this healing and empowering Yoga Nidra,

The more often you enjoy the benefits of Yoga Nidra,

The more you begin to cultivate positive change in your life,

In addition to the many,

Many benefits Yoga Nidra brings,

Listening to Yoga Nidra helps to calm our nervous system,

It releases healthy amounts of wonderful feel-good neurochemicals like dopamine and serotonin,

As well as providing similar benefits to several hours worth of sleep,

Hi, Ashley. I really enjoyed this session. It germinated a couple of useful ideas for me. One was imagining taking in vital energy from the environment with the breath through the crown, then sending the outgoing wave to specific loved ones in my life, or “whoever needs it.” Another was to ask myself, How can I embody my sankalpa today? and see what ideas arise in response.
