We all experience being stuck in our lives and it often triggers feelings of overwhelm, self-doubt, confusion, and fear. What would it be like to reframe the experience of being stuck as an insightful part of the change process to improve well-being? If you pause and allow your emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations to guide you through the process, you may begin to uncover the wisdom you need to take the next step forward.

This meditation serves as a deeper inquiry when you experience or anticipate being stuck while trying to make positive change in your life.

Begin by finding a comfortable seated position or lay down on your back if you prefer.

Bring your gaze down or close your eyes.

Take a few cleansing breaths by inhaling through your nose and exhaling out your mouth at your own pace.

And when ready,

Allow your breath to return to a natural pattern.

Begin with your toes and in your mind's eye,

Travel slowly up your body,

Noticing any physical sensations that arise,

Using your breath for support.

As you approach your shoulders,

Bring them down away from your ears.

Relax your neck,

Relax your jaw,

Soften your eyelids and forehead.

As you approach the top of your head,

Bring to mind an obstacle in your life that is getting in the way of making a positive change.

This could be a specific goal you are working on,

A relationship challenge,

A difficult thought,

Physical discomfort,

Or something else.

As an obstacle appears in your mind,

Allow it to communicate to you.

Imagine you are watching a movie on a screen.

Let it play out.

Try to be curious about what you observe,

As if you are a caring friend to this obstacle.

Notice how your breath,

Body and mind respond to this obstacle as it plays out.

What does it feel like to be stuck?

And are there emotions to be found?

What does this obstacle want you to know about it?

Does it have a purpose?

The less judgmental you try to be,

The more you may learn from it.

Breathe through this experience as you place one or both hands over your heart.

And now,

What compassionate,

Kind words can you offer yourself around this inquiry,

As if you were speaking to a loved one?

What do you need to hear?

Is there an image that comes to mind that feels caring and supportive?

As we come to the end of this inquiry,

Feel free to make a mental note of any insights that you would like to journal about or explore further.

As you transition back to your outer world,

Deepen your breath and take a few open mouth exhales to let go of your obstacle for now.

When you are ready,

Slowly open your eyes and look around the room.

See if you can trust that this inquiry may shed some more light for you.

Namaste.
