Welcome.

Today we're going to talk about self-care.

Not a spa day,

Candles and smoothies,

But I'm talking about a deeper kind of self-care.

The kind that is not always pretty.

The kind that sometimes feels hard.

The kind that can change your life.

Because here's the truth.

Self-care isn't always comfortable.

It's often uncomfortable.

It's not about feeling better.

It's about getting better,

Bit by bit,

Day by day.

Let me ask you something.

Do you ever take care of everyone else and wonder why you feel burnt out?

Do you tell yourself,

I'm fine,

When your body,

Your mind,

Or your spirit is screaming that you're not?

Do you put off rest,

Healing,

Or saying no because you don't want to let people down?

If so,

You are not alone.

Most of us have been trained to believe that taking care of ourselves is selfish,

Lazy,

Or a luxury.

We say things like,

I'll rest when I'm done.

Other people have it worse.

I don't have time for that.

But let me offer you this.

Self-care is not a reward for doing everything right,

But the foundation that allows you to show up at all.

Because the truth is,

You are a human being,

Not a machine.

You need care.

You need rest.

You need boundaries.

You need joy that isn't productive.

You need moments that aren't about proving anything to anyone.

And the deepest form of self-care,

It's not just about what you do.

It's about how you treat yourself.

It's the voice in your head when you make a mistake.

It's the way you speak to yourself when you're struggling.

It's whether you give yourself permission to slow down,

To grieve,

To feel,

To say,

I don't have it all together today,

And not hate yourself for it.

That is real self-care.

Let's get practical for a second.

Because self-care isn't always glamorous.

Sometimes it's going to bed early instead of doom scrolling.

Sometimes it's taking the hard step to go to therapy or to talk to someone.

Sometimes it's drinking water,

Even when you're not in the mood.

Sometimes it's walking away from people or places that make you feel small.

Sometimes it's doing the laundry,

Paying the bills,

Showing up for the appointment,

Because the future you needs that support.

Self-care is showing up for yourself in small,

Steady ways,

Even when no one sees it,

Even when it's hard.

And no,

It won't fix everything,

But it will change something.

It will change your relationship with yourself.

That relationship affects everything,

How you love,

How you work,

How you heal,

And how you live.

Because when you care for yourself deeply and consistently,

You stop needing the world to validate your worth.

You stop chasing rest in burnout cycles.

You stop trying to earn love by overextending yourself.

You start to live with integrity and with alignment.

You start to build a life where you're not just surviving,

But living from a place of enoughness.

And that is what I hope for you,

That you start taking your own well-being seriously,

That you start asking,

What do I actually need today?

And that you don't abandon yourself just because life gets busy,

Or people expect more than you can give.

You matter.

You deserve your own care,

Not someday,

But now.

So no,

Self-care isn't always soft or easy.

It is powerful,

And it is necessary.

Because how you care for yourself sets the tone for how you live your life.

Start where you are.

Start with one thing at a time,

And don't stop showing up for you.

Thank you for listening today.

Namaste.

Karyeng, A beautiful and practical approach to self- care. I never really learned to give that to myself much of my life I resonated to all the ways that don't add up to healthy self-care while reveling in true self- care. Thank you for this very wise and encouraging meditation. I felt peaceful movements inside myself learning what self-care truly is. Thank you Karyeng💛🙏
