This is for YOU! It's time to gift yourself some loving nourishment and get in touch with your own inner wisdom.

Hello and welcome.

This is a Reconnecting You meditation for parents of adolescents,

Teenagers and young people.

This time is all yours.

Nothing to do,

Nowhere to be,

So settle in,

Get comfortable in your space.

Close your eyes or soften your gaze as you begin this journey to replenish your spirit and bring curiosity towards the young people in your life.

I invite you to let your attention rest on the spot between and slightly above your eyes known as the pineal gland or sometimes as the third eye.

Hear the singing bowl ring out and follow the sound into the silence.

Notice your breath breathing without you,

Your body breathing itself.

Now I invite you to imagine for yourself an inner world.

It's going to belong uniquely and solely to you.

You get to curate and design it as only you would choose.

It's a place of peace,

A sanctuary,

A haven within you.

It might be a space in nature where you feel most at home.

It might even be a moment reimagined where you felt held and nurtured.

It could be based on somewhere already familiar to you or completely new.

Take all the time you need to attend to its fabric and foundations.

Build it,

Furnish it and bring in all the textures,

Colors and objects that might soothe you.

What elements of nature have always sought you out?

Lay them down here wherever feels good.

Let yourself be here.

What does safety and harmony feel like for you?

Let this place be all of that.

Only you know what deeply matters to you.

Build it from your heart to reflect the warmth and care that you intend to extend to yourself from this day forwards.

In this sacred space,

You get to be who you are without limitation or inhibition to show up fully.

This is somewhere for you to let go,

To rest and to play.

Somewhere to be with yourself undisturbed.

You can return anytime to rest and recharge and receive all that you need to face the challenges of your day to day life with grace.

Take a few moments in this peaceful,

Safe,

Unique space to feel into your surroundings.

Now,

Having absorbed this space and sense of inner peace and self-acceptance,

Imagine it radiating throughout your entire being,

Bringing deep calm.

Allowing your system to quieten further,

You might like to take a deep breath and feel the air as it fills your lungs before exhaling slowly and releasing any residue of tension or stress.

From here,

We are going on a short journey to explore connecting and attuning with your young person.

I'd like you to picture your teenager now,

Standing in front of you in the midst of profound change and undergoing such rapid growth,

Their body stretching and evolving.

Take time to feel into the energy of their adolescence,

Those powerful waves within them that shape their emotions and experiences.

As you hold this image,

You might instinctively feel into their experience of this immense phase of life.

It's a time of huge transformation both physically and emotionally.

I invite you to notice any wants that might be present in you,

Any wants that you may have been holding for them.

Give them time to surface and simply acknowledge them,

Be curious.

It's time now to bring to mind a recent interaction or an event that triggered some kind of emotional response in you,

Nothing too intense.

It might be a conversation with your child or perhaps a moment where you felt frustration or overwhelm.

Holding this moment and its trigger in your awareness.

Now gently allow yourself to feel into it without going to thinking.

There will naturally be some emotions and sensations that accompany this memory.

Can you sense where and how you feel them in your nervous system,

In your body?

It may be a subtle inner vibration or a more intense charge.

It might be noticeable in your chest,

Stomach,

Head or elsewhere.

There could be tension,

A heaviness in your shoulders perhaps or maybe a simple numb or empty feeling.

Whatever shows up or doesn't is valid,

Just notice and be there alongside whatever you are noticing or feeling.

Can you become interested in what emotions are present within you?

Only noticing them and then just gently coming alongside them.

Take this time to notice what you were believing about your child in that difficult moment.

And what were you believing about yourself?

Now become aware of your sensations,

Emotions and beliefs all together.

There are valuable messages here unearthing unmet needs,

Unresolved issues and deeply held beliefs.

What do these sensations and emotions want you to know or be aware of?

Holding gently whatever is alive and present for you right now,

It's time to return to your inner sanctuary.

It's time to return to your inner sanctuary.

Lovingly built with and honed from all that most matters to you.

Take time here to look around and soak up the energy of this space.

Let it soothe your system.

Let it become marinade here.

Notice the surfaces,

The textures and succumb to your chosen elements of nature.

Notice how you can be here with any inner disturbances that there is no right or wrong.

No judgment or opinion.

You are held safely and surrounded only with what matters to you.

Any discomfort within you is nothing more or less than a natural part of the process.

In this sacred space created by you,

Allow yourself to sit with it.

Embrace any difficult emotions with warmth and interest.

Acknowledging that they are here for you,

Here to guide you towards greater self-understanding.

Any emotion brings forth a chemical process in the body that we feel in the form of physical sensations that never last longer than 90 seconds when fully felt.

You may have unearthed a memory or met with some big feelings.

You may be experiencing very little.

If there is some remembering,

I invite you to remain with your felt sense and encourage you to just allow its unfolding without any questioning from mind.

You are felt,

Heard and understood.

I invite you to let go.

Take a look around your sanctuary.

You have everything you need.

You are safe.

You may like to now breathe deeply and hold your inhale for the count of 10 before exhaling slowly.

Slowly.

Releasing any lingering discomfort,

Big feelings,

Sensations.

And gently coming back into your body,

Noticing your fingers and your toes.

Gently introducing some movement and taking your time to blink,

Open your eyes.

Remember to revisit your inner sanctuary whenever you feel called to.
