Welcome to the Still Point,
A meditation for calming the urge to purge.
If you're here right now,
It means you're facing something really hard,
And I want you to know you're already showing strength just by pressing play.
Let's take this one breath at a time,
Okay?
You don't have to fight the urge.
You just have to stay with yourself for these next few minutes.
Start by finding a safe,
Comfortable place to sit or lie down.
Let your hands rest on your belly,
Your heart,
Or wherever feels grounding.
You can close your eyes if that feels okay,
Or take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose with you for feeling this urge.
It's a pattern.
It's one that helped you cope at one point,
But right now,
We're going to remind your body and your mind that you are safe without it.
Notice where you feel the most activation,
Maybe in your chest,
Your throat.
Let's help your body ride this wave.
I'm going to have you bring your attention to your breath.
We're going to inhale for a count of four,
And when you inhale,
I want you to breathe as if you could go deep down and breathe all the way.
I want you to breathe out as if you're breathing out the crown four,
Hold two.
I am experiencing an urge,
But this feeling will pass.
My body deserves to keep what I've given it.
Picture your body not as the enemy,
But as something tender,
Something trying its best to keep you alive.
It doesn't need to be punished for being fed.
It needs safety.
If it helps,
Imagine wrapping yourself in a soft blanket,
Or visualize a calming light surrounding your stomach.
You are allowed to sit with this discomfort without reacting to it.
Let's take one more deep breath together.
Inhale,
Releasing just a little bit of that tension.
You are stronger than this urge,
Not because you force it away,
But because you stay through it.
Every minute you wait,
This wave gets smaller.
Now,
Whenever you're ready,
Gently blink open your eyes and look around your space.
Reground yourself.
Feel your feet.
Touch something nearby.
Name five things you can see.
You've done a great job.
You've just chosen care.
You can keep choosing it,
One moment at a time.
