Social Growth Meditation This meditation was designed to help you tap into areas where alcohol has stunted your social growth.

Listening to this meditation will help you acknowledge and release blocks and limiting beliefs around friendship and social relationships.

This is a theta state meditation intended to take you into a deep subconscious brain state.

It is best listened to with headphones lying down.

Please enjoy.

Begin to breathe in slowly in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Envision yourself in the room where you are now,

But find yourself seated on a plush white fur rug.

Feel the rug beneath your fingers and your body.

Notice how your arms and your legs and your torso sink into the rug allowing it to conform to the shape of your body.

Now notice,

Slowly,

Safely,

Comfortably,

The rug begins to lift from the floor,

Rising higher and higher off of the ground,

Moving through the ceiling,

Moving through the roof of your home,

Hovering above your yard,

Hovering yet further and further above your neighborhood and above your town,

Gracefully,

Slowly floating and taking you to your favorite place in nature.

As the rug slowly lowers to the earth,

Make note of your surroundings.

Take in a deep breath and smell all that is around you.

Open your eyes softly and turn 180 and then 360 degrees,

Noticing everything in your view.

Step off the rug and with bare feet,

Feel the earth beneath your toes.

Allow yourself to ground here in this safe space.

Notice how relaxed and calm you feel.

Notice the sounds of nature or lack thereof.

Listen for wildlife or the sound of the wind blowing through trees and plants or over water.

Take a moment to absorb and take in everything in these surroundings.

As you shift,

You'll notice in the background a trail that leads up a beautiful mountain.

Make your way to the trail and begin to climb slowly,

Steadily up the path,

Making your way further and further up the mountain,

Noticing how everything below you begins to become smaller and fade away,

Climbing higher and higher above the landscape until finally you reach the top of the mountain.

Once you're here,

Take another moment to take in all the beauty before you in this beautiful,

Safe,

Natural surrounding.

Now you'll notice in the top of the mountain,

There's a hole with a beautiful brass ladder leading down into the earth.

Curiously,

Step onto the ladder and begin to climb lower and lower,

Rung by rung,

Down into the earth,

Feeling the coolness of the brass underneath your bare feet and under your hands as you climb lower and lower,

Deeper and deeper into the earth.

Finally,

You'll notice that you reach a room.

Step off of the ladder and into that room,

Noticing the texture of the ground below you.

And as you take in the room before you,

Notice how it seems to be decorated just for you.

All of the furnishings,

The decor,

Place exactly where you want it to make a beautiful,

Cozy space to sit and reflect.

Perhaps there is a fire,

Perhaps there's a window,

But find yourself in a comfortable seated position on the floor.

Begin to breathe in and out again,

Focusing on your breath.

As you sit there on the ground in a comfortable seated position,

I want you to observe yourself in your adult state as a resourced,

Capable,

Intelligent,

Competent human being.

And in this moment,

Knowing that you have the resources and the knowledge and the capability to hold space for yourself and all past versions of yourself,

I ask for you to invite into the room a version of you in adolescence when you are at your least confident socially.

Notice her as she enters the room.

How is she dressed?

What does she look like?

Find a moment to make eye contact with this version of you,

Smiling softly,

As if to tell her,

Hey,

I've got you.

And invite her to sit across from you,

Cross-legged on the floor.

As she does,

Continue to look into her eyes,

Acknowledging where she is right now,

How distant and different and stressed she feels,

How she might feel as though she doesn't fit in or as though no one understands her.

Hold this version of you in respect and remember how difficult and scary and frustrating it felt,

How unfair and rejected and unsure you might have been at that time.

I want you to look at her and have so much love for her.

Convey that love to her as you look into her eyes,

Reminding her that she is special and that she is capable and that she is lovable and brilliant,

That she is magnificent and full of life and possibility just as she is.

Remind her that she is a miraculous,

Mystical,

Magical,

Wondrous unicorn of a young woman.

And if she only knew what was in store for her,

She would not for one moment question her brilliance and her uniqueness or try to shrug them off in order to fit in.

And as she sits there,

I invite you to place your hands out,

Palm up,

So that she might put her hands on top of yours.

As she does,

Wrap her hands in yours,

Squeezing them tightly,

As if to remind her how safe and loved that she is.

I want you to sit there with her,

Holding space for her uncertainty,

Holding space for the parts of her that feel most awkward and uncertain,

Holding space for the parts of her that have not been taught to show up and socialize and make friends in a way that feels good for her,

Holding space for the parts of her that feel judged and tormented,

Holding space for the parts of her that have been bullied and made fun of or made to feel less than in whatever way.

Communicate to her that no matter what she's been through that you know and you understand and you are here now to support her and guide her and help her and show up for her in every version of her before and since.

Sit with her as your breath begins to regulate and become one.

And if it feels good,

Release your hands and instead bring her into an embrace,

Assuring her with all of your might that she has the tools and the ability and the charisma to make friends and be friends,

That she can grow and cultivate the confidence to withstand any social situation the world might throw at her,

That she needs nothing outside of herself to become the person that you know that she is capable of being.

Remind her that she is worthy and wanted and accepted just how she is.

Remind her that she need not dilute herself to fit in with other people.

Remind her that she is brilliant beyond measure and that is her birthright to shine so brightly because only then will others be able to see her light and have the permission to shine just as she does.

Hold her in a warm hug and remind her how undeniably lovable she is.

Remind her that the right people will not require her to dilute herself.

Remind her that her people are there waiting for her just beyond her current sight and that they will celebrate her for all of the things that she deems to be weird and quirky and strange and awkward.

Hold her in this possibility and remind her that she is loved and lovable and worthy of love and appreciation and friendship,

That she is worthy of a brilliant,

Vibrant social life and she is capable of showing up unaltered,

Confident.

Hold her in this embrace and now allow her to sit.

Perhaps she wipes the tears from her face that she's felt as she embraces and pulls in this love from you.

Now start to cultivate a breath and notice that as you breathe in,

A beautiful glowing light flows from her heart to your heart and as you breathe out,

That beautiful glowing light reciprocates from her heart to your heart.

Continue to breathe in and notice as the stress disappears from her eyes.

Notice that she's become lighter and perhaps a soft smile washes over her face as well.

And as you continue to breathe,

You'll notice that that light starts to surround you and her,

Growing with every breath,

Until eventually there is no you or no her,

But only a brilliant bright golden light filled with love and acceptance,

Filled with confidence and possibility and courage.

And know that as you go forth with every move you make,

You are holding that little girl's hand and helping her to have the confidence to be the woman she was meant to be going forward.

You are supporting her and showing her what's possible and she is so proud of you,

Always cheering you on somewhere there in the background for every triumph you make,

Every social milestone you conquer,

Every moment you show up,

She is cheering for you and she is so proud.

Allow the warm light to fill the room,

Slowly bringing you back to this current place in time.

Begin to wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes,

Stretching,

Opening your eyes and coming back into the room,

And knowing in this moment that you are capable,

You are worthy,

You are loving and you are loved.

And so it is.
