Sometimes we force ourselves to feel grateful out of a sense of lack.
That we may lose what we have if we aren't grateful for it.
But this is not necessary to feel true appreciation.
To feel the magic and magnificence this moment holds for you.
Just relax and surrender into this moment.
Appreciation will naturally arise.
The world will start to sparkle and glisten more than ever before.
You'll wonder what has changed.
You can point out that the seasons are changing or the sun is shining.
But it is the appreciation of the moment that magnifies its magnificence.
Savor the moment and amplify the blessings present all around you.
For each is a gift made especially for you.
You will receive all of its wonder and splendor through the door of appreciation.
So let's go within now and open the door of appreciation to let these gifts in.
Start by gently closing over your eyes.
Take a few deep breaths and relax your body deeper into your seat on each exhale.
Begin to open yourself up to receiving more,
Surrendering more with each breath.
You can start to incorporate Ujjayi breathing.
Instead of forcing yourself to feel appreciative,
Surrender into this moment and allow the gift of the moment to fill your heart with a natural sense of gratitude for all that is.
Do not force this feeling.
Let it come.
Let it arise from within.
From that space between your heart and your gut that can be felt when you breathe deeply.
If you would like to use a mantra when your mind starts to wander,
Feel free to use the mantra,
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you for this moment.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you for this moment.
Invite the chest to soften,
The heart to soften,
To settle into this beautiful space within.
Rest your awareness here and let the feelings of appreciation naturally arise during the next few minutes.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Let it arise from within.
Slowly start to bring your awareness back into the room.
To your feet on the floor,
To your hands in your lap,
And when you are ready,
Open your eyes.
I hope this meditation has helped you cultivate a natural sense of gratitude.
And may you carry this with you throughout your day.
Namaste.
