Hello and welcome.
I am Candy Foster.
I am a mindfulness meditation instructor and a Reiki Master Teacher.
Today I am honored to bring you this meditation to help you with forgiveness.
Whether you are struggling with forgiving another person or even yourself,
This meditation can help you get there.
Sometimes it is very hard to forgive in either of these situations but forgiveness is more about you than it is about the other person.
Forgiveness frees you from the confines and the prison of anger and resentment and we all deserve to be free.
Before we begin,
I'd like you to set an intention for this session.
Who do you need to forgive?
Trust the first thing that comes up.
And we will begin.
Will you please find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed?
Sit up straight and take a deep breath in filling your lungs and release that breath fully out.
Breathe in again and fully release that breath.
Take one more deep breath in and release it fully once more.
Start to settle into a softer breath pattern.
Allow it to begin to soothe your body and your mind.
Allow the body to ebb and flow with the breath.
And allow yourself to step aside from your pride and your ego for a moment.
If you'd like,
Place your hands over your heart and bring this person or situation to mind just as the observer without attachment or judgment.
If emotions arise,
Just acknowledge them and let them float by with the next exhalation and let it go.
Refocus on the breath.
And ask yourself,
How can forgiveness in this situation help me?
How would it feel to be free from this anger?
Can I forgive this person?
If not,
Take a deep cleansing breath in and out.
Visualize that exhalation,
Taking the anger and resentment with it.
Ask yourself again,
Can I forgive this person?
If not,
Continue with the deep breathing until you feel you can.
Once you're able to let it go with the exhale,
Feel the lightness that comes with that release.
Feel the freedom and the sense of weight being lifted off your shoulders.
That sense of relief with letting go.
And just sit with this sense of relief for a few minutes.
Thank yourself for letting it go.
You are free.
You are free.
And now start to come back to the here and now.
Acknowledge your surroundings and take a deep breath in and release.
Bring some movement into your body and open your eyes when you're ready.
Thank you for joining me today.
Come back to this meditation as often as you need it and feel the freedom of forgiveness.
Namaste.
