Hi everyone,
I'm Lucy from Coexist Collective and today we're going to do a loving kindness meditation.
Start by taking a comfortable seated position of your choice.
Your legs can be crossed,
You can sit on a cushion or block,
Whatever feels most comfortable to you.
Make sure you're sitting in a quiet place with no distractions around you.
Take a moment to adjust your seated position if you need to.
Placing your hands either on your knees or thighs and gently closing your eyes,
Draw your attention to your breath,
Noticing each inhale and exhale.
Ground down through your sit bones and keep your spine straight,
Sitting up tall,
Letting your breath come and go.
Opening up through your chest by drawing your shoulders back and down,
Feeling your breath deepen as you open up.
Feel your chest rise and fall with every breath,
Inhaling as your lungs expand and exhaling as your lungs fall back down.
Let your body soften and relax in your seated position,
Focusing on your inhale and your exhale,
Riding the waves of the breath.
Now imagine someone who loves you or who you love unconditionally.
Allow this feeling of selfless love engulf you,
Bathing in the aura of love and kindness they provide or you provide for them,
Resting in the warmth of their heartfelt embrace of who you are,
Just the way you are.
Bringing in the experience of this unconditional love and acceptance,
Feeling comforted by knowing that you do not need to deserve this love or be worthy of it.
It just exists no matter what.
You may not feel worthy of this love,
But that does not matter.
It is irrelevant.
You are accepted and loved regardless of whether you accepted or not.
You are loved for who you truly are.
Bask in this feeling,
Allow your heart to be held in the safe space.
This space is provided just for you.
If you feel ready,
Try to become this source of loving kindness.
Let the energy flow through you.
Imagine these heartfelt feelings as your own and not those from another being.
Feel the radiant loving kindness pulse through your body,
Enriching every single cell with loving energy,
Letting your heart overflow with your own acceptance and kindness,
Seeing yourself beyond judgment of any kind.
Now let the feeling sustain you.
Let it move naturally.
No need to force anything.
Let this feeling be a balm for your personal negative self-talk that can linger beneath the surface.
There is no more space for the negative when there is this overflowing love and kindness within you.
You may find it useful now to keep this warm feeling going by repeating the following mantra.
May I be safe and protected and free from inner and outer harm.
May I be happy and content.
May I be healthy and whole to whatever degree possible.
May I experience ease of well-being.
Gently at your own pace repeating it softly to your mind,
Whispering these powerful words to yourself.
May I be safe and protected and free from inner and outer harm.
May I be happy and content.
May I be healthy and whole to whatever degree possible.
May I experience ease of well-being.
May I be safe and protected and free from inner and outer harm.
May I be happy and content.
May I be healthy and whole to whatever degree possible.
May I experience ease of well-being.
As we draw this meditation to an end,
Take a few more breaths to feel your own innate beauty,
Your own innate love,
And your own innate kindness.
Embody this feeling and let it shine both inward and outward.
Allow this energy to be a constant state within you.
Now bring your focus back to your breath.
Come back to the present moment and let yourself ride on the wave of your breath.
Inhale and exhale.
Thank you so much for joining me today and for cultivating loving kindness within your life.
Namaste.
