Hello,
Friend.
In these days when the onslaught of news and,
Of course,
Everything we have to hold in our own lives can create a sense of uncertainty in our lives,
I want to offer one of my favorite practices.
This is a form of grounding.
Begin by stepping outside.
Ideally,
You want to find some green space.
Even just a few trees and some grass can be nice.
When you're there,
If possible,
Slip your shoes off so your feet can touch the earth.
You're welcome to pause the meditation until you arrive.
And then just begin to take a moment for yourself.
Allow your senses to begin to connect with a gentle breeze,
The temperature beneath your feet.
This beautifully simple practice has been shown to reduce inflammation,
Pain,
And blood pressure.
When we reconnect with the earth in this way,
It relaxes our heart and can help with stress among other things.
So just feel deeply in the space where your feet touch the ground.
Breathe in and know that you're breathing in.
Breathe out and know that you're breathing out.
And as you breathe in,
Feel the freshness of the air,
And as you breathe out,
Let go of any tension that you notice.
Breathing in,
Your awareness moves down into the body,
Right out to the fingertips.
And breathing out,
That very awareness softens with each breath.
Allow yourself to notice any part of you that has been feeling stressed.
Allow your attention to connect with sensations in the body of this stress,
Any emotions or feelings in the body,
Or to connect with thoughts or any sort of visions or images that come to mind.
Now,
This part of you that's been worried is in service of you,
So just take a moment to welcome it,
And let it know that we're interested in knowing what this worrying part most wants for us.
And you can do this just by asking,
Or you could say opening to this part with the inquiry of what is it that it needs us to know,
And then just listen for an answer.
If the part shares something with you that it's worried about,
You can connect and ask what it is that it might need from you in this day and in this moment.
Is there a way that you could work together,
That you could support it,
That you could reassure it?
Or is there some action that might be taken that would help to alleviate unneeded stress?
Just see what it says.
And then just allowing this little space between you and this part to be expanded on.
Just allow the kind,
Compassionate,
And present,
Listening part of you to be there with this worried part.
Let it feel that it's not alone.
Sometimes these parts really love just to kind of feel our presence,
And notice that we're listening,
And to feel that we're interested in helping.
It can be nice just to notice if there's anything that needs to be done right now,
And if there is,
Great,
You can help that to happen.
But if not,
You can also perhaps just repeat a little internal mantra with this part,
That this moment is enough,
That it's more than enough,
And that you are enough,
More than enough.
Just repeating as many times as feels right and good,
Allowing that deep sense of enoughness to permeate through the entire field.
Sometimes it can feel nice to imagine that you're drawing or filling yourself up with this rich source of enoughness.
Okay,
Dear ones,
I hope this little break was helpful.
Maybe just taking a last few deeper breaths in.
When you're ready,
In your own time and in your own way,
Making your way back,
Let's move through this day with the clarity of what is most important,
So that we can support those around us,
So that we can support ourselves,
And so that we can make this world a brighter place.
Sending love to you.
