A 3-minute practice of finding well-being in the body. Attention is often drawn to the difficulties in our experience, but we can develop the habit of also giving attention to wellbeing. When attended to, it will often grow, and we can become skilled at letting it fill the whole space of the body. All this is helpful for cultivating the meditative states described by the Buddha where there is a deep absorption in different flavors of well-being and happiness (samadhi/dhyana).

This is a three minute well-being practice.

Please do first listen to the introduction to the practice.

So three stages to the practice.

Notice,

Attune,

Soak.

So beginning by taking three conscious breaths and allowing a letting go with each out breath.

And looking for some aspect of our bodily experience where there's well-being in this moment.

Might be quite subtle or mild.

That's fine.

So it could be an area of pleasurable sensation.

Some flavor of ease,

Contentment,

Happiness.

Some sense of spaciousness or lightness,

Aliveness.

Or just a pleasure of simply being present.

And then attuning to that experience of well-being.

It's as if we've got antennae and they're tuning to that particular frequency of well-being.

And just allowing other frequencies to be more in the background.

Could feel as if we're listening to a particular sound amidst other sounds.

Letting that one sound be prominent.

And then soaking.

So just letting go into the well-being.

Giving it space to be fully felt.

To be enjoyed.

If the well-being's mainly in one part of the body,

Maybe we can allow it to ripple outwards into more of the body space.

Maybe the whole space of the body filled with that well-being.
