Begin by finding a quiet and comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
Sit comfortably with your back straight,
Either on a cushion or on a chair,
And let your hands rest gently in your lap,
Closing the eyes.
Take a few deep breaths to settle into the present moment.
Notice the sensation of the breath as it enters and leaves your body,
Whether it's through your nostrils,
Your chest or your abdomen.
There's no need to control or manipulate your breath.
Just observe it as it is.
As you focus on your breathing,
You may notice that your mind starts to wander,
Which is perfectly normal.
When you notice your mind has drifted away,
Simply acknowledge your thoughts without judgement and gently bring your attention back to your breath.
Inhale deeply,
Filling your lungs with air,
And exhale slowly,
Releasing any tension or stress you may be holding in your body.
Repeat this as many times as you need and then allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm.
Now that you are settled,
Know that you can come back to this place of being with the body,
Of being in the present moment,
Any time that you want.
You have this place within you,
Opening your eyes,
Taking a clean,
Fresh breath as you return to your day,
With peace and calm within you.
