Hello everyone.
Thank you all for being here.
As usual,
I want to encourage you guys to participate in this live event by writing down your comments,
Sharing your opinions,
Your experience in the topic,
Maybe asking some questions.
If you would like to,
I would definitely be glad to answer all of them.
And let me mention a few words about me.
My name is Diana Mirzayeva.
I'm a philosopher,
A life coach and a meditation teacher here at Inside Timer.
As we all know,
The topic of our today's event is intuition and we will specifically focus on how to tune into our intuition and how to train our intuition.
In all my work,
Especially the work with my clients,
I always prefer the science-based approach.
So everything I will be talking about today has been proved.
There were some experiments made in the labs and institutions all over the world.
So it will be less spiritual context of intuition but more of a neuroscientific one.
I really hope that you guys could catch up with the previous information.
You can always find it in my profile.
I upload each of the live events in the audio so you can listen to it and also probably tune into each topic once again.
So the main,
The general topic that we are here for is Mind-Body Connection.
It is where I specialize and I extremely love this area and I really enjoy being a specialist in the topic of this inner connection in our bodies and minds.
Alright,
So let me mention a few words about the previous event,
What we've been discussing last week.
So we were defining intuition according to the dictionaries and of course our perception of it.
We were reviewing two experiments from the professors of neuroscience,
One in the New South Wales and another one was in Japan.
And also we were talking about the brain-gut connection.
And as we mentioned,
Not only the brain plays an extremely important role in our body but also the gut that can be called the second brain because it has millions of neurons inside.
So it is extremely important in the context of intuition as well.
I guess we can start with the next part,
How to tune into our intuition.
And let's start with a couple of points that I wrote down for myself that I would like to mention here.
First of all,
We should be aware of our mood when starting to work with intuition.
Especially Pearson,
The professor whose experiment we were discussing previously with the blindside people,
He says that intuition really is influenced too much by emotion.
So when we are feeling highly emotional it is much more difficult to access our inner voice,
Such as anxiety,
Anger and depression.
They all have shown that they kind of throw off our internal compass,
Our intuition.
So emotional thinking and intuition isn't the same at all.
So I would even say they are quite opposite.
And emotional thinking when we feel kind of anxious or lost or desperate,
These sort of emotions,
We kind of block ourselves from hearing our intuition.
Because if we talk physically,
The stress in our body blocks the signals to our brain,
To the areas in our brain which help us to tune into ourselves,
To relax.
So that is all connected strongly.
And when we are feeling highly emotional,
It is not recommended to even start working with intuition.
What we first have to do is to work with our emotional state and our mood.
The best place to have a contact with intuition,
To access it from the neutral standpoint.
So tapping into our brains or God's unconscious information requires us to stay neutral,
To stay calm.
And this is what is mainly required,
I would say.
And this is where meditation can extremely help to be kind of the first step towards our goal of hearing ourselves and our inner voice.
Not only meditation can be helpful to work with emotions but intuition as well.
Well,
Let's make a little pause.
Angelica,
I can see your comment,
Let me read it.
I have a little bit of trouble when trusting my intuition because I am a very anxious person and tend to have intrusive thoughts.
It is hard distinguishing my gut feeling from my anxiety.
Exactly.
So I guess this is why person,
And I can totally agree with that,
Highlights that emotional thinking isn't the same as intuition.
And it is very difficult to access the inner layer of intuition if it is covered with anxiety or some kind of negative,
Tough,
Rough emotions or stress.
So to distinguish between them,
I am not sure if you would like to hear my recommendation or what I think about that but I will allow myself to do that.
If you are not sure at the first place,
Try to work first with the anxiety.
Because I am pretty sure when we hear our intuition,
We are quite certain that all right,
This is it.
And when we cannot find balance or we cannot find the right answer,
We are not sure yet in that.
It probably is something else.
It is probably our emotions speaking or the uncertainty or stress in our physical bodies.
And let's move slowly to our second point.
Here I would like to talk about interoception.
So I am pretty sure most of you have heard about the sense of interoception in ourselves.
There is extra reception when we are perceiving the world around us.
And interoception,
Well,
That's kind of a highlighted awareness of one's internal state.
So how we feel from the inside.
It can include not only our spirituality,
Our mood,
But also the physical conditions that we can feel,
Access and work with.
I would like to mention here that I am working on my course of a mind-body connection that will be here on Insight Timer and there will be a special day dedicated to interoception,
How to work with this sense,
How to also develop that and much more detailed explanation of why it is crucial,
Why it is important for all of us.
So to put it in simple words,
It is kind of the sense that helps us to understand and feel what is going on inside of us,
Inside of our bodies.
Psychologists came to the conclusion,
They are saying nowadays that interoceptive abilities of people,
They can be the driver behind everything happening in our bodies,
Starting from thought,
Our emotions,
Decision making and speaking in total our sense of self.
So that's a huge topic to discuss,
So that is why here I am only mentioning that partly.
Speaking of the brain,
More of the physical abilities,
Our brain's main job is to interpret signals from our bodies and then drive us to act on those signals.
And every cognitive process,
Every thought that we have,
It originates first in our bodies.
And only after that,
A quarter of a second later,
We are getting our thoughts.
So we have to learn how to listen to our body,
To access the needed thoughts,
The intuition,
To make decisions and so on.
Other way,
I believe that we will be acting on the information that is given to us from the outside by somebody else and that are not our authentic,
Not our own thoughts.
And a great example of this would be how politics works.
We will definitely not be going to politics tonight,
But it's one of the proofs for myself at least,
Why it is so important to listen to yourself first and to know yourself before trying to know and understand others.
For example,
People with a good interception,
They can easily tap into their heartbeats,
Into their blood flow in the bodies,
Into the different parts of the bodies,
Let's say.
They can kind of check up on their health,
On their states,
Whether something feels wrong or right,
Different or better than it was before.
Well,
I guess we can continue to the third point of our today's discussion,
How to tune into our intuition.
So the next tool,
I would say,
Technique even,
Is to visualize the situation.
So it is very important to note that intuition doesn't really work in new situations.
So in completely new circumstances.
So when you are thrown into something new that you have never experienced before.
So in these kind of events,
It is much better to rely on logic and your slow thinking rather than intuition because analytic and intuitive thinking,
They are not correlated usually and could not happen at the same time.
And in the context of mind-body connection,
Intuition is something that helps you access the unconscious information in your physical body.
From my point of view,
This is what I teach how I see that.
And your body simply doesn't know,
Hasn't been in this new situation before.
So there is kind of no knowledge yet about that gained.
So I hope that is clear why.
And if it is something that you have probably experienced earlier or probably have seen,
Observed this kind of situation from a side,
Maybe something similar was happening to your relatives,
Your friends or even the characters in the movie you have been watching.
It is useful to look down at the situation like you are watching it from a balcony.
And allow your mind to visualize whole situation,
All of the details without forcing yourself to find the answer.
And when you are engaging these interoceptive skills inside your body and when you become aware of the nuances of the situation,
When you feel calm and relaxed and just allow this to flow,
You allow yourself to,
You allow it just to be.
This probably will give you some kind of feelings inside.
You can ask yourself,
Does it feel right?
Or maybe there is some detail that just pulls your attention that you have to notice that is so bright.
And the most important here is not to force yourself to let it be and not to think too hard.
Just try to relax,
Try to enjoy that,
Be curious about that.
So what is curiosity?
It is something that we are expecting,
That we are kind of excited about but we do not know the result of it yet.
So we are curious about the result.
So try to be curious about this situation you are looking down at.
And probably,
Most probably,
The answer will just come up somewhere from the inside of your body,
Of your brain,
Of your mind.
So this is important not to overthink because it can definitely damage your decision making process.
Well,
Here is the comment of Jana.
Interesting,
Seems like your intuition would be clear without knowing the situation.
Well,
That seems curious to me.
Why?
What do you think so Jana?
As for me,
My intuition wouldn't even work in a situation that it doesn't know,
That I don't know.
Well,
If you could explain that,
I would really appreciate this.
Oh,
Your mind doesn't get in the way.
Okay,
Right.
So there is necessity to differentiate,
Of course,
The mind,
The thinking mind that kind of puts pressure or is seeking for the answer and the wisdom of your body,
Let's say.
Okay,
Yeah,
Now I know what you mean.
Right,
Thank you.
Well,
And the next point that I would like to highlight tonight is practicing getting into the flow state.
So it's kind of similar to the state that I was describing previously when talking about looking down on the situation.
So just allow your mind to guide you,
Not the thinking mind,
Not the one that forces you or that hurries you up,
But the mind that has it all,
Including the unconscious part of it.
So mind is everything that our brain has.
It is not only conscious information that we have learned,
That we are thinking,
That maybe new thoughts are coming to our mind,
But it is everything including the sense of inter-reception,
This kind of unconscious information,
Let's say,
Or better to say non-conscious information.
Well,
And what will help me personally,
And I'm sure many other people to get into this state of flow is,
For example,
Tracking on being on nature when you can have this panoramic vision,
When your mind will switch from focus to completely different view,
Or probably playing some sports or even active meditation if you like to practice it,
Or free dancing,
For example,
That we were also paying attention to in the previous events when we were discussing the practices that help mind-body connection.
And of course,
The next point,
The fifth one that I pointed out is to trust your instincts,
To trust your body.
So this is where a lot of wisdom is held,
And that is why developing the mind-body connection can make us more self-confident,
Because you will be trusting yourself much more,
You will be more sure in yourself,
In your decisions,
In where it comes from.
It will become more clear for you.
So another important link to mind-body connection as well.
And here I would say that it is all for the first part of our today's event,
How to tune into intuition,
And slowly we are moving to how we can train our intuition.
But before that,
I would like to thank the Insight Timer,
This incredible platform and application for the opportunity to gather here and to have such amazing and warm and welcoming and friendly life events for the incredible and immense guided meditation library.
So your presence here is very appreciated and your donations are also very welcomed that will be distributed between contributors and the platform,
The team who is working for our good.
Let's move on to the second part,
And I can assure you guys that intuition can be trained,
We can train this sort of skill of accessing our inner wisdom,
Of hearing our inner voice more clearly.
And of course it requires practice,
Better regular practice or even more daily practice.
So even a sense of inter-reception,
Not only intuition can be cultivated.
Psychologist Jonathan Gibson,
If some of you guys have heard of him,
He specifically outlines two mindfulness practices which can help increase the inter-receptive awareness.
I am glad that we are having such a discussion on the meditation platform,
I am sure that all of you guys are familiar with the mindfulness practices.
So the first one that I would like to highlight is focused attention mindfulness.
So here we will spend some time,
Around 10 minutes with the awareness trained on a specific aspect of our bodies.
For example,
The easiest for me at least is our breath,
Or maybe for some people heartbeat or sensation in the limbs or other parts of the body of your choice.
So training your awareness,
Focusing your attention in a relaxed way of course,
No forcing on the body part or aspect of your body for about 10 minutes will help you know yourself better and will increase your sensitivity for inter-reception and intuition.
And the second practice is the open monitoring.
So here we are not judging but just observing and noticing various sensations in the body.
So we do not only concentrate on one body aspect but we notice the sensations in the physical bodies that are passing through us and it drastically increases our awareness of signals given by our body.
Well these simple practices that of course require quite a lot of effort especially to dedicate time to that will be extremely helpful.
So also what I can add to these two mindfulness practices is paying attention to your gut,
Working with the senses in your gut.
I would particularly recommend as a next step to be aware and get aware of your gut feeling,
Literally of your gut.
So as we discussed last week,
The gut has its own brain,
It's kind of a second brain in our body and it is also called the network in our gut,
It's called enteric nervous system.
So all of the neurotransmitters that construct our gut.
Also another practice that will be helpful is just asking intentionally a question before your meditation and quietly sitting with this question.
So not trying to look for an answer but rather allowing it to come to you.
I'm sure when you practice this you will definitely feel when some non-conscious information wants to or is ready to pop up and you'll definitely get it.
You will not miss it and I would say it is a practice of a higher level but I'm sure that anyone can do that and can get to that level.
So this feeling will guide you to the answer which will be incredibly beneficial for the decision making of course.
And the final moment here that I would like to say is just paying your attention and noticing your energy.
For example,
How do you feel in a particular situation or with a particular person,
With a co-worker or maybe with your potential customer,
If you're a business owner or if you're a freelancer.
So does it energize you,
The situation or the person or do they drain you?
So try to trust your feelings,
Try to differentiate between what feels right or wrong for you.
And a lot of leaders make their decisions based on this sort of feeling,
On intuition generally speaking,
On their energy,
How they feel about it.
Literally how they feel about it.
Well,
I guess this is it.
What I wanted to share for today.
It was a big pleasure again to meet you all.
I love having these live events weekly.
And if you are not following me yet on Insight Timer,
Please do so,
So you will not miss the next events in the topic of Mind-Body Connection.
And of course,
If you have any wishes,
Any thoughts,
Ideas of what you would like to hear from me,
What you would like to discuss with me,
You can leave a comment or the private message for me.
I always take into consideration the flow,
The general flow of our live events.
And I would also like to mention,
Please allow me so,
If you would like to have a private session with me on the Mind-Body Connection topic,
You're very welcome.
I'm always open to new connections and collaborations.
Well,
Thank you all guys for being here.
I wish you to have a great day ahead or a night ahead depending on where you are.
I strongly wish to see you next week for another aspect of Mind-Body Connection.
And goodbye everyone.
Thanks a lot for your presence.
