This is a practice to deepen our awareness of our wombs and explore the different ways that we may cultivate a tender and loving relationship with her.

You may do this practice while you are on your period and you'll find that it probably will help your cramps feel better and your flow a little smoother.

If you're not on your period you can do this as well because you'll still get those benefits of establishing that line of communication with your womb thus leading to healthier periods in the future.

To begin,

Sit in any upright position that feels good with our hands resting gently on our thighs.

If it feels nice,

You can rub them on your thighs taking care to give special attention to the inside of them around your knees.

There is an acupressure point here that is connected to womb health.

Now bring a soft focus to your womb area.

Feel how she rises and falls as you breathe.

Notice how you were holding her in your body.

The womb is a part of our anatomy that we often forget about until our cycle and what actually happens is that we dump a lot of tension into our wombs.

One way is through daily stress.

We freeze up in our torso area when facing challenges or when we feel unsafe.

Another way is through the patterns in which we hold our body.

This area can be a place of self-consciousness and sucking in.

Over time,

The energy in our wombs becomes balled up which leads to difficult and painful periods.

What does it feel like to allow this part of your body to relax and let go?

Notice how our attention and our breath softens our womb.

Breath by breath softening,

Unwinding,

Releasing.

Gently,

With warmth,

Letting our attention travel around our womb.

Softening,

Unwinding,

Releasing.

Start to invite a slower,

Deeper breath that trails from your throat to your chest,

Your stomach,

And finally lingers to a rest in your womb.

Feeling this gentle,

Undulating wave,

Both subtle,

Deeply felt.

And now,

Inviting our presence to come to the exhales.

Feeling that wave of breath up your body with every breath.

Feeling tension be carried out on the exhale.

With every breath,

Feeling your womb relax and begin to open up.

Continue to explore the inhales and the exhales.

Feeling your womb link up with the other parts of your body that the breath travels through.

Feeling your womb release its tension to the environment around you,

The earth,

Supporting and holding you.

As I do this practice myself,

My hands are naturally drawn to float over my body and trace this flow of breath into and out of my womb.

This is a spontaneous form of Qi Gong.

Qi Gong means moving and working with energy and breath.

With the help of my hands,

I'm moving and working with the energy of my womb in a deeper and more embodied way.

I invite you to explore what Qi Gong hand movements your breath and your womb desires to express.

Let your hands dance gently over your body in any way that feels natural.

Your hands are expressing the unique way your womb desires energy and breath to move through her.

Feel how fresh energy and breath opens up even more awareness in your womb.

See if you can feel where she is situated in your body.

The pace of modern life pulls us forward and we often exist in the space in front of our bodies.

Oftentimes,

The womb is pushed out as a result.

What does it feel like to let your womb sink back and into your body?

Again,

We can call upon our breath and our hand movements to help us.

By breath,

Our womb sinks,

Deepens,

And rests in our body.

With every exhale,

Expanding the space in our bodies downwards and backwards,

Letting our womb stretch into a sink down into this new space we've created.

Rest in this space.

What we're doing here is particularly powerful if you're on your period.

In letting the womb soften,

Open up,

And sink downwards,

We're creating the perfect environment for blood to flow freely and painlessly out of you.

Even if you're not on your period,

This is still a very nourishing practice for womb health.

To be relaxed and centered in our womb means that the energy can flow effortlessly from this place.

Start to feel the fresh energy flowing through your womb.

How does it want to move?

I welcome you to begin to invite that movement into your bodies and hands.

Feel the movement run through the entire body.

It might feel right to stretch or sway.

This is the dance of our womb.

Witness this dance.

Let your womb know you're here for her.

Give thanks for all that she has done thus far and for being willing to work with us here today.

As we near the end of the practice,

I invite you to keep this line of communication open between you and your womb.
