Do you harness the full capacity of your lungs?

Have you ever considered the profound significance of the first and last thing we do in life?

How often do you pause in your day to acknowledge the life force that sustains you?

I'm Shelly McLean,

A therapeutic arts healer and empowerment coach.

Join me today as we explore the incredible power of our breath.

Let's start by taking the most expansive breath we've taken all day.

Inhale through your nose,

Filling your lungs.

Hold it here for a second and now exhale it all out.

Now consider the purpose of our breath.

Beyond the essential exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide,

It serves as a powerful force with many benefits.

Our breath has the ability to alleviate stress.

Our breath can hype us up,

Infusing energy into our being.

Our breath plays a role in our body's healing processes.

It has the capacity to calm our mind.

Breath work contributes to improved focus.

It's the force behind your everyday existence.

And if you choose to explore breath work with a partner or friend,

It can deepen your connection and relationship.

Our breath is nothing short of magic.

It's freely available at our disposal every moment,

Yet it often goes unnoticed until congestion or a nasty head cold disrupts it.

Let's shift our perspective and incorporate breath work and gratitude for each breath into our daily routine.

It's a simple,

Transformative practice that invites our breath into every aspect of our lives.

Recognizing the myriad of benefits,

Stress reduction,

Heightened energy,

Healing capabilities,

Mental serenity,

Improved focus,

And deeper connections,

Is evident that treating our breath with mindfulness is comparable to appreciating the vital act of drinking water.

It's easy to overlook the profound significance of each breath,

Yet every inhalation and exhalation is a silent,

Rhythmic reminder of our existence.

By establishing breath work into our routine,

We form a powerful connection to the present moment.

Much like the ritual of drinking water to nourish our bodies,

Being mindful of our breath becomes a practice of nourishing our very essence.

Let's embrace the simple yet profound act,

Whether it's during your morning ritual,

Evening wind down,

Afternoon reset,

Or moments of scattered thoughts.

Incorporate the psychological sigh into your breath work practice.

Let's practice this now,

Together,

As we end this talk.

Take two deep breaths in through your nose and follow it with a deliberate extended sigh.

Breathe in through your nose,

Hold,

Breathe in again,

And sigh it all out.

This simple yet powerful act can serve as a grounding anchor,

Helping you reset as you move throughout your day.

Thank you for listening.

I hope you found new appreciation for the beauty of breath and the life it's given you every single day since birth.
