Transcript

Welcome to the 5 minute reset.

In this short practice,

We'll use the breath to help centre the body and mind.

Through a slow conscious breathing pattern,

We'll help support the body to release tension,

Regulate the nervous system and guide you back to your centre.

So this breath will be done entirely in through the nose and out through the nose.

We'll start by taking a deep belly breath in.

Then taking an extra sip of air in.

And exhaling fully.

Begin by letting the body settle into the support beneath you.

And feeling the steadiness it offers.

Take a moment to notice the body exactly as it is with gentle curiosity.

Allowing any sensations to be here.

And notice how the breath is in this moment.

So let's begin our conscious breath together.

Breathing in.

Small sip in.

And exhale.

Coming back to a natural breath now.

And take a moment to observe the body and mind.

And noticing any shifts you may feel since beginning this practice.

And if you'd like,

You can always return to the beginning and move through another round of breathing.

Otherwise,

Taking this sense of calm and centredness with you into the rest of your day.

Thank you for joining me.

Beautifully guided as always, thank you Kirsty 🙏 I really appreciated the quiet simplicity of just breathing without any words for a while. I feel noticeably more settled after just this brief practice. Another of yours I'll be returning to.

Thanks for this lovely short practice. Fun to have something new. I did this practice five times tonight. By the fifth time I could do it without tilting my head/neck back. I also added a mantra on the inhale, I thought “I” for the length of the breath. For the sip, I thought “am”. For the exhale, I thought “here” for the length of the breath. This helped me focus and kept the mind chatter at bay pretty effectively. I am interested in knowing about why this breath practice is used—why the breathing is all through the nose and what effect that has. And why the sip of air is included. Just curious because sometimes the exhale in similar practices is through the mouth. And sometimes there is a hold at the top of the inhale instead of a sip. What is the difference in doing this way? Just curious. I love this method of breathing and the others as well. Is it just action/distraction? A way of focusing the mind in the breathing technique to quit the mind chatter? Thank you so much for your beautiful and soothing tracks. The US is such a shitshow right now, and my meditation practice us a necessary ritual to maintain some semblance of sanity and also to keep from looking at the news at night before bed. It is truly a lifeline. I am so appreciative of you and your work.

Thank you so very much So simple yet incredibly effective, no talking during the session just breathing in time with Kirsty Also personally lovely to breathe in and out of the nose only as that was the way I was taught in yoga decades ago

Thank you, Kirsty. Perfect length and the repetition of the breath without much talking was very soothing. Hearing your breath helped with syncing up my own breath to relaxation. 💛
