One of the hardest things in life is to learn how to slow down the mind and be present in every moment.
We live in a culture where we have been trained to act,
Move and respond very fast to life.
Actually most of us believe that constantly doing something or working on something it's essential for our survival.
Well without a doubt life is made up of quite a few moments like this.
Nonetheless continuously whizzing through life can simply lead to missing out on the best bits of life,
Not to mention burnout.
It's very hard to focus on what's in front of you if your attention is moving constantly fast or even faster and to put it in another way focusing on quantity rather than quality.
In this meditation I would like to invite you to put all distractions away,
Slow down the mind and trust that it's okay to have moments like this when it looks like nothing is happening yet as a matter of fact quite a lot of healing takes place in moments like this.
I hope you are already in a nice and quiet space where you won't be disturbed and ready to begin this practice.
Begin by gently stretching your body but only if it's comfortable for you.
Doing a couple of wrist rotations one way and the other way,
Ankle rotations one way and then the opposite way and if you wish you may loosen up all the muscles in your neck by gently rotating your head one way and then the other way.
When you are ready choose a comfortable posture for yourself.
If you are sitting in a chair making sure that your lower back it's well supported elongating the spine rolling back those shoulders feet firmly planted on the ground feeling the support of the ground beneath you hands resting in your lap palms facing up go ahead and adjust your body so you are able to relax and enjoy your experience.
Take this moment to notice where is your awareness and gently guide it to this present moment.
We have plenty of time so take as much time as you need to arrive here.
Set an intention for yourself and it can be something very simple like a word,
A feeling,
An affirmation or a mantra.
Allow your intention to sink into your mind,
Heart and soul.
Let's connect with the breath noticing how it feels to breathe consciously and take a moment to focus on the word consciously.
The breath is so precious and most of us take it for granted.
Never questioning where the next breath is coming from.
Without a doubt we trust that it will be here when needed.
I invite you to take the biggest breath you've taken all day or perhaps in a long time.
Take two more breaths like this,
Filling up your lungs with air,
Expanding the belly.
With every exhalation release any worries or fear related to slowing down.
Keep releasing,
Keep releasing.
All life is about balance,
Inner balance,
Outer balance.
The moment we are out of balance,
Not connected to our centre,
We experience stress,
Anxiety and feeling overwhelmed.
Oftentimes we take short and shallow breaths because we are rushing and then forget to empty our lungs completely because we are busy and life is spinning around us.
We are afraid to slow down in case we might be missing out on life.
The truth is that you can't miss what's meant for you.
This is the reason your soul chose to be born during this time so you can experience what you came here for.
So go ahead and take another juicy and calming breath and give yourself permission to slow down even more and enjoy life.
Let go of all the beliefs that are not serving you in this moment.
Relaxing the body,
Dropping into your centre and connecting with your essence energy.
Noticing the mind and all the mental traffic going on in there.
Not feeling the need to change anything or interact with any of your thoughts.
One of the reasons why most people are afraid to slow down is because they have scarcity mindset rather than sufficiency mindset or abundance mindset.
Take a deep breath and give yourself permission to be with what's coming up for you in this moment.
Breathe in even deeper to open up the space in your mind and your heart so you can understand the belief that stops you from slowing down.
Trust that when you are ready the answer will be revealed for you.
Feel the flow of your breath in your body.
Relaxing and softening the muscles in your lower back,
Mid back and upper back.
Relaxing the shoulders,
Dropping them one inch closer to the ground.
Relaxing the spine,
Breathing in from the base of your spine,
Your root chakra,
Guiding the breath between each and every vertebrae until it reaches the top of the head,
Your crown chakra.
Breathing out from the top of the head all the way down into the base of your spine.
Repeat the process a couple of times in your own pace.
Directing your attention to the front side of your body.
Relaxing and softening the pelvis and hips,
All the muscles in your abdomen.
Relaxing the chest and the space between your collarbones.
Take a deep breath and relax the arms and legs.
Allow them to get softer and softer and melt away into the surface beneath you.
Relaxing and softening all the muscles in your neck and throat.
Now move your attention to your head.
Unclench the jaw.
Relax and soften all facial muscles.
Take a deep breath to calm the mind.
Breathe out and smile.
Let's just pause for a moment and notice how you feel.
Perhaps you are experiencing a shift in your mind and physical body and perhaps you feel like it's okay to slow down and enjoy the journey.
Whatever emotions,
Feelings and thoughts are coming up for you in this moment,
Allow them to be.
You are not your emotions,
Feelings and thoughts.
It's more to you than this physical body.
When you give yourself permission to slow down,
You are embodying your true self.
You are bringing yourself into alignment with your values so you can express yourself authentically.
Experiencing alignment means that anything that's in alignment with you will be matched by you.
Breathing in and out through the nose.
Remember that it's never too late to step into your power and experience life at your own pace.
As we are coming to the end of our meditation,
Take a moment to notice how you feel emotionally,
Mentally,
Physically and spiritually.
Give yourself permission to remain in this space for as long as it feels good and right for you.
And when you're ready,
Just gently start moving your body and slowly open your eyes.
