In this visualization meditation, I will help you connect to your inner child. Inner child connection is a good way to connect to your childlike wonder and joy even in adulthood. It is recommended to have a photo of yourself as a child when doing this visualization to help the process but it is not mandatory. Music by Chris Collins, indiemusicbox

Hello and welcome to today's practice.

Today we will be going over a visualization activity that is beneficial to inner child healing.

When we focus on healing our inner child,

We focus on connecting to the part of us that is full of childlike wonder and joy.

Sometimes it's good to connect to our inner child to make sure we remember those feelings of joy,

But other times your childhood may have not been a childhood at all.

If you feel like you didn't have a childhood due to having to grow up too quickly,

Parental or family dysfunction,

Or other circumstances that were out of your control as a child,

Then it is important to connect back to your inner child.

In this activity,

I recommend having an image of yourself when you were a child.

If you don't have one for any reason,

That's okay.

You can just use your imagination.

Now getting into a comfortable seated position,

I want you to clear your mind,

Take a deep inhale through your nose,

And exhale through your mouth.

I want you to take a look at your picture of you when you were a child.

Lock in on that image.

Again,

If you don't have one,

That's okay.

Now still sitting,

Close your eyes.

I want you to imagine you are sitting in an open field.

The sun is shining on you.

You are in a good mood.

There are no worries in your mind,

No sorrows,

No anger,

No pain.

There's nothing but warmth.

Now I want you to visualize your inner child sitting across from you in the field,

The younger version of yourself from the photo.

If you didn't have a photo,

I want you to visualize yourself at a young age,

Whichever age you think of when you hear the phrase inner child.

Visualize that younger version of yourself at a happy time.

What are they wearing?

Are they holding on to anything?

Is your inner child a bit jittery while sitting,

Or are they sitting there patiently looking at you?

Take this time to visualize your younger self,

Your inner child,

In front of you right now.

After visualizing your inner child,

I want you to tell them the following.

Hello little one,

I am here now to be your parent,

To help you,

To play with you,

To protect you,

To be silly with you,

To guide you,

To love you.

I am here and I am NOT going anywhere.

If you allow me,

I would like to hug you.

If you're new to inner child healing or connection,

There might be some hesitancy in this part,

But try it anyway.

You will now reach your arms out as if you were to hug someone,

Then pull your arms back in as you hug yourself while actively visualizing yourself hugging your inner child.

Hug your inner child as long as you need it.

After you are done hugging your inner child,

Tell them you will check in with them another time.

Now to recenter yourself back to the present,

Take a few deep breaths.

Inhale and exhale through your nose.

Once more.

Inhale and exhale through your nose.

You are now done with this visualization activity.

You can practice this every day at the beginning or end of your day as a way to check in with your inner child.

Other ways to check in or connect with your inner child is doing something fun that you used to enjoy as a child.

I hope you use this visualization often and have a happy,

Loving relationship with your inner child.

Bright blessings and take care.

Thank you for your gentle guidance and reminder of my loving childhood that I need to keep close in my thoughts through adult life and it’s challenges.
